Man oh man! If any of you have bought the Derevi Commander precon, this guy will fit right in! (Unless you went for the blink theme.) As is he's going right into my Vorel of the Hull Clade EDH

This set has such freakishly good uncommons and such sucky rares...
This is an amazing uncommon. It's a perfect Arbiter of the Ideal, or any Inspired trigger. I mean, who wouldn't want to get two artifacts, lands, or creatures per turn?
@Lord_of_Tresserhorn, Would you prefer a set with junk rares and amazing uncommons, or junk uncommons and amazing rares? I, for one, am happy that I can hope to pull 2-3 of these without difficulty, vs 0-1 if it were rare.
Scry 1 + draw a card + draw and play a card for free, every single turn. It did not make me popular with the other players!

At first glance I thought this card was ok. Tap it to untap another creature or artifact? Decent.
Then i realized that in addition to those uses, he also functions as a mana-dork! 4.5/5

As with usual in GU, she has a multitude of utility compressed into an elegant ability. -Ramp -Vigilance -"Copy target activated ability with a tap cost"
and a variety of other tricks can be pulled; from a mere 4 words.
"Don't look at me - all those blue people all look the same" Solid double-down.

@ DeckMechanic, it can't target itself. It says "Another target permanent", implying anything but this. If you had two of them, that could work.
Otherwise, this is a beast in limited. When you're looking at your opponents untapped lands, you don't think about this as a source of mana at first.
For example, I was playing a guy who played this on turn two. He didn't play a land on turn 3, and he didn't play anything. "Excellent", I thought. "I can play Fabled Hero and still have the to pay for Stymied Hopes". I didn't consider him technically having 3 mana for Dissolve, since it just looks like he's got 2 untapped mana.
The best combat trick is this and Pheres-Band Tromper. If you attack with the tromper and they have a 3/3 to block, they'll block it. It sucks for them because now your tromper's a 4/4... and it's untapped.
A definite champion of this set.

Any combo appreciator's dream. A standard bear on stats, gives your biggest guy pseudo-vigilance, and allows you to active inspired at instant speed. Doesn't really combo with Kiora, but someone will find a way.

Yes, yes, infinite loops in standard, but more importantly, how does he actually swim? That huuuuuge fin he has on the back of his head makes swimming look incredibly impractical. From what I can tell, he has four methods to swim, any of which make him look goofy to his fellow merfolk:
A.) He swims with his face constantly pointed downwards, which doesn't seem like he'd ever be able to see where he's going, and the fin doesn't look designed for that type of swimming anyway,
B.) He swims vertically, which is either intimidating or hilarious, depending on your politics,
C.) He arches his spine in ways that shouldn't be arched to properly allow the fin not to get in his way of his torso or legs,
D.) He folds the fin to the side as he swims. I'm no marine biologist, but I think a curved fin would always make him swim lopsided.
He's also pretty cool with other Merfolk; they frequently care about untapping permanents. Wake Thrasher comes to mind. Get two of these on the board and attack with a monster fishman.
On top of THAT, combining the two combos into a single deck gives even MORE combos between them.
Elite Arcanist with Triton Tactics and Illusionist's Bracers Combined with a Favored Felhide Gives infinite mana that can be used to fuel infinite hasty Arcanist copies!

Untaps Simic Growth Chamber for 2 mana instead of 1. So you can play it turn 3 and not lose any tempo (you still get 4 mana turn 3). Then turn 4 you have 6 mana, with just 3 lands and 1 mana dork, not counting your turn 1 or turn 3 play.

This is one of them.
Note, it's not a rare...

THAT VOYAGING SATYR HAS SEEN A LITTLE PLAY IN STANDARD
U/G DECKS WILL SOON HAPPEN BECAUSE THIS
Perhaps the best infinite loop to assemble in the format is a land that taps for 2-4 mana (Simic Growth Chamber, Fertile Growth, Verdant Haven, Dawn's Reflection, et cetera) paired with a land untapper (Krosan Restorer, Voyaging Satyr, Stone-Seeder Hierophant) paired with a creature untapper (Freed from the Real, Galvanic Alchemist). It's one of very limited infinite combos that has redundancy in each component, and it's in two colors that can assemble it. (Drift of Phantasms, Commune with the Gods, Frantic Search)
This card is in the proper colors and serves as a part of the combo.
(Its competition in its colors is the Gilder Bairn and Pentad Prism infinite mana combo.)
He may call himself kiora's follower, but i call him WRONG!
Still a great card in any format though.
