Amazing card for casual multi-player. Big-defense, flying blocker early on in the game that still provides functionality later on via it's Transmute capability. Definitely gets put in any blue deck I build that has specific cards at a CMC of 3.

Amen to that, lanternx! ;-)
That creature's really good, especially when you're playing a blue/black controlling mill-deck like me where you really need something to catch big creatures. And I'm just beginninjg to realize that this card is perfect to get a hold of Mind Funeral...^^

This guy is the absolute backbone of the Darksteel Reactor deck that I have.
He can defend while the reactor builds up, and he can also fish out Dismantle and Paradox Haze to help build up the reactor. He can even fish out Fabricate if I don't already have the reactor.
Outside of this deck, it's still a serious pwnage wall and transmuter.
Love this in my Ensnaring Bridge deck. If I'm having trouble drawing the bridge, this guy can fish it out for me.

This card is fantastic if you're building an EDH deck on a budget. It can tutor any number of useful things at 3cmc. Fabricate,Eternal Witness, Mimic Vat, and Dissipate are only a few of many great targets.
Just saying. Oh yeah, and Dimir has other Spirits that Transmute for 3 and would also like to have hexproof.

A good cheap wall that blocks fliers or lets you trasmute into Jace Beleren

My favorite move with this card - xmute for Sword of Light and Shadow, play, equip, attack, return Drift.
Then xmute for some 3cmc degeneracy next turn - Intuition, Windfall, E-wit, all of the above. Recurring tutor in a low avg CMC deck blows the game wide open. Thanks for being a creature.

Great card! In the firsts turns it can save you a lot of life blocking annoying creatures. In the late game it can be Transmuted to search for anything else. If you plan it a little during deckbuilding, it's really useful! If you don't, it's still a great defender...!
On another note, in a more conventional mill deck (as Dimir tends to be) he can fetch both Mind Funeral and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

In any deck that has a particular 3-CC card it needs to work, this would be my tutor of choice. Johnny likes.
In a pinch, it's a decent wall. What's not to like?
