Well, Knight of Meadowgrain seems to have grown up. She also seems to have gotten a species change. It is probably a slightly more relevant sub-type however, and for the short time Innistrad is in standard, this will see some standard play.

Am I the only one who thought he looked like a jedi?
I mean seriously, glowing blue sword, AND protection from black and red, (traditional sith colors)?

Anyways, it's a great card. Arguably worse than Paladin en-Vec, but then again, why not run both?

Solid color hose critter which might slide nicely main or side board into a W/x human tribal build.

Because White Knight, Black Knight, and Blood Knight were too weak, and needed life link and an extra protection....

No, more like White Knight, Black Knight, and Blood Knight all play different roles and, as someone on another forum pointed out, this ability is easier for new players to understand than "protection." I like our new paladin, not the least because that art is amazing. I think "Jedi" is the most appropriate comparison

Wow, thats certanly a thing, I had to reread it, thinking I must have missed some drawback other than WW, nope, he really is that good.

This is my favorite of the enemy color-hate cycle in M14. It could all be that art though, dayumn.
I do wish they'd do some updated version of protection, the old one is clunky and annoying, particularly the unblockable part doesn't make sense to new players and makes play frustrating.
I'd go with a simple damage/destruction prevention variant, but untargeting is clean at least and makes it less likely for your guys to just get burned off the field.

This is the best of the enemy color hate creatures in this set, hands down. Might be right at home in a Humans deck before Innistrad rotates.

Sadly owns Lifebane Zombie by a mile. Protection against the two colors with the most removal is insane.

Solid little creature, will probably have a solid little pricetag to match it, at least for awhile.

Not protection from black or red. But the lifelink is really nice. And besides, protection from black and red, is usually meant to stop the Doom Blades and the Shocks anyways, so its good enough.
Can't help compare him to Vampire Nighthawk tho.
....run both

The card's great and all, but it won me over as soon as I saw that art. Something about it is so... badass.

Compare to Paladin en-vec, Fiendslayer doesn't survive as well, but if you main deck Fiebdslayer against a nonred, nonblack deck you still benefit from lifelink, while en-vec would just be another first striker. I prefer en-vec out of security reason, but they both have a place in the right deck.

Now this I don't mind seeing. You get a really good creature for the cost.... Kind of overpowered..... but not disgustingly. I like him. =)

I despise cards like Baneslayer Angel. She can go fornicate a rusty pipe. D<

What the...?! What is Snake Eyes doing in MtG?

Seriously now, he looks like a lot of fun. Not perfect (as others said, Paladin en-Vec probably has a slight edge), but the lifelink is very nice. This is the very definition of "awesome sideboard card".

Plus it looks really snazzy. Must find foily ones.

White 'value knights' are all pretty good, and this one is stacked with keywords and sideboard potential against aggro decks. The only thing that's not to like.... wait... it'll come to me.

Also, THAT ART. It is amazing.

Wish it had actual protection, but that might've been just slightly broken.

Five stars for the card, ten stars for the art. This is going to be one sweet foil.

Probably the sweetest White card of this core set. Perfect design in terms of functionality and flavor. I'll admit upon first glance, I was worried that this duder represented a shift away from the use of Protection in core sets (last time around we got Knight of Glory and Knight of Infamy for instance), but the presence of Brave the Elements reassures me that Wizards isn't ready to ditch the best / most powerful / my favorite ability yet :)

Someone said that Lifebane Zombie was less Main-deckable than this and Witchbane, but this and witchbane are the exact cards that Lifebane can target so I feel like they've done the color balance pretty well here.

This guy also doesn't get to fight the Zombie or win against the green drop, which all makes perfect sense. Black evasion with lopsided toughness, White's versatile and hard to kill fighter, green's fat that you have to remove through combat, etc..

I like that it doesn't screw up Legacy or Modern tournaments due to Earthquake style cards

Take note of the fact that this doesn't have protection.

Protection against two colors with efficient removal is brilliant. I say that this forgoes the sideboard unlike its other-colored companions and goes directly into the main board.

@Sonserf369: You forget that Black has a ton of graveyard recursion, allowing you to either trigger the zombie repeatedly or swing in for 3 every turn (if they block it's probably going to die)

Wait, new players have a hard time understanding Protection...

Okay, I'm just gonna assume they're kinda young, but I digress.

This card is very good for his cost. Since he doesn't have true protection, they were able to give him life link for another mana, which isn't bad.

4.5 for early beater with lifelink and psuedo pro-black/red for fairly cheap.

Would have been nice if they'd given him 'protection from black and red spells', a slightly pumped version of that last ability which stops board wipes like rolling temblor from completely smashing your weeny deck but which doesn't make this card unkillable - you only need a 2/3 to beat him after all.

Regardless, a much fairer version of protection and what I imagine it should have been to start with. Very nice design and gorgeous art.

Please, wizards, more of this, and no more of that Mirran Crusader bollocks!

reminds me of baneslayer angel's badassery. it makes you play white... sort of. and you get to slap your red-black playing friends. this makes up for slivers in my book.

+1 to all to those commenting on this being a more balanced protection effect. I'd like to see a Protection variant that makes the Creature receive half the damage from creatures/spells/abilities of that colour.

Awesome art. I like how his armor is a pretty legit depiction of full plate harness, unlike the giant spaulders that we often see in popular MMOs these days.

hahaha anyone who says this card is not a awsome powerhouse in a standard deck is insane. you can suit him up,put counters on him, static boost him, he can't be targeted by black or red spells your opponents control, he has first strike and lifelink, great for soulbond. great double blocker with another first strike or double strike creature such as fencing ace. i could go for hours on how this is a constructed playable card.

Does any one have any good ideas to get around this card if your playing red green aggro?

Looks like Solaire joined the Darkmoon Covenant.

If only my sword could be so grossly incandescent!

@kman9000and1: 2/3 creatures? or 3/3. Boros Reckoner and Briarpack Alpha would probably do well. Oh! Ordeal of Purphoros.

Such an awesome card. Great balance with its protection, great color hate, and that artwork is amazing. I think the explanation is also a lot easier for newbs to understand than the typical "protection from X" as well, since my Auriok Champion caused some confusion against my newbie friend.

A solid card all-around. it holds it's own and its resistance to being targeted by black and red spells is nice; no more doom blade, murder, lightning bolt or anything like that!

Effectiveness: 4/5
Artwork: 5/5
Originality: 3.5/5

Pulled this card foil and well, I'm a sucker for it. First strike and lifelink with red/black protection gets this card a 4.5 rating IMHO.
