You know, at this rarity, I would expect a +1/+1 counter party on ALL my creatures, not just one . . . Am I being too greedy here ?

Eh, it wouldn't be very good even if it was at uncommon. Has some synergy with some of the other counter creatures in the set, but for the cost to activate the ability it isn't really worth it. People might try to make it work with Ajani's Chosen or something similar, but without a flickering type effect I don't think it's really gonna work that well.

It can go on any creature so it's anti-undying. Does that make it dying?

Hmm... ancient wood? No thanks.

Go back to Kamigawa, and take your Molting Skin with you.

I mean, just get some Rancors going and you're having a party. Its only 3 mana and its recurring so I don't think its THAT awful. Maybe like a 2 or 2.5/5.

The Emmara Tandris of this set — yes, it could be useful in the right deck, but it is just so very weak that it's hard to find a non-niche use for it.

Persist likes it... Well, I tried.

This card isn't that bad... in limited... if you build around it... which you shouldn't...

"Some gaze upon the forest and see trees. I see true power."
- some topless druid with oaken leaves swirling around him

Some see trees. You see true power. I see mediocrity.

I think this could have passed as an awesome one-drop without being broken.

Maybe restrict the target to just "creatures you control",
or let it trigger only for other enchantments, and we're fine.

Not quite as good as Oath of Druids

Eh......
Well, in limited, it's not that good, simply because you pick there creatures and removal over enchantments. So unless you got there three to four additional enchantments, this will suck.

In constructed, it's also not good enough. Unless you run a casual enchantment deck. If you do, run four of these. Ideally with opalescence, or enchantments creating tokens, since any non-enchantment card would weaken the deck.

Really bad. They could have added landfall or made it trigger from landfall at least. Then it would be somewhat interesting in terms of power. As is, this thing should be 1 mana, or even 0. Card disadvantage for conditional creature pump? Damn, this is bad.

I just pulled this in the worst booster pack I ever opened. It could only be worse if somehow I managed to get both Rod of ruin AND Razor boomerang in it at the same time :D

This stinks. My first pack of M13 I get a Thragtusk, and in M14 I get this in my first pack.

This probably could have costed Green without being broken, especially at rare.

The obvious combo for this would be Flickerform and any number of auras that have enters the battlefield effects.

The flavour text finally makes sense to me. It came to me in a vision...
The time was 7:34 pm, Friday Night... at my comic store. I was playing M14 draft.

The person I was playing played this. When we were building our decks, I remember telling him to not to play this unless you had a decent amount of Enchantments.
"Bro," he said ironically, "I got this".

First match was against him. He was playing Bant colours. Early in the game, he played this. To no surprise, it had nearly no effect.

I was nearly done killing him. But then something happened...

Turn 9, he said, "So, you believe you have the upper hand, eh?"
"I do. I have three creatures: A Serra Angel, a Warden of Evos Isle, and a Griffin Sentinel. Sure, I have no cards in my hand, but... well, I don't mean to be arrogant, but you're at 4 life and I'm at 16..."

"See, you simply see a situation as it is. You gaze upon the forest and see trees." He then proceeds to play Dismiss into Dream. "I... well, I see true power."
He then played Pacifism. One he'd been holding in his hand since turn 1. And then he played Divine Favor the next turn.

Do not underestimate underestimated cards.

Heliod, God of the Sun was just spoiled. Not only are the Gods of Theros enchantment creatures, but Heliod has a non-tapping ability that creates enchantment creature tokens! Heliod will turn Oath into an efficient machine for cranking out counters while supplying targets for the counters. And casting a Dismiss Into Dream with decent enchantment backup will make your opponent's creatures explode. Ajani's Chosen has great synergy too, he adds two to your "devotion to white" and doubles Heliod's tokens.

I was wondering why everbody was hating on this, then I saw that it only triggered off of enchantments, not all permanets. Yah this could have costed just Green.

I feel like this is meant to help out the combo between Simic Manipulator and Agoraphobia. Easy creature control that can be played fairly early.

"7/1/2013: If the enchantment that enters the battlefield is somehow also a creature, you may choose it as the target of Oath of the Ancient Wood’s ability."

Look at Wizards, being all coy about enchantments 'somehow' also being creatures, a solid two months before Theros came out. Perhaps this enchantment is overcosted because the rest of the Theros block is going to help support it more effectively?

This is going to become a LOT better with all the Enchantment Creature token producers coming out in Born of the Gods, most of all God-Favored General.

Maybe it's because I own an enchantment deck but... This seems okay to me? Not 1.x bad at least.

Maybe usable in a deck based on JOU's constellation ability word?

So a card with Constellation has been under our noses for almost a year before the actual mechanic was spoiled..

I can think of at least a few fun card interactions in BUG or even just UG using this card. Makes bad enchantments like Mana Bloom into reusable counter engines, and makes Krasis Incubation always have more upside than downside.

I need several of these for my Pharika Constellation deck...

@Ataraxiom: there was already an enchantment creature printed before theros, Lucent Liminid.
seriously though why is this a rare. maybe if it put a counter on all your creatures..
