I suppose it's a much more controllable Manabarbs, but on that point, it's a lot less damaging. Sure, you could play no Non-Basics, but what's the chance they are? It's an inconsistency.

I don't think this will see much play anywhere except for maybe EDH. In Standard and Modern, it may be just a bit too slow.

I think this will see a fair bit of play in standard considering that the shocklands are running around. Especially for these 2-3 months before Theros comes out and we still have the M13 and Innistrad check-lands too.

Honestly, I am a little worried others realize how good this card actually is. I'll just downvote it and hope no one will sideboard it against my junk deck, which happens to run only two basics

I'd rather play Manabarbs. Because I'm a man, and I can take it.

Just how good is a one-sided Manabarbs?

I already made RDW with Mutavaults and three of these maindeck.

Not bad, but too slow in red.

Nonbasic Manabarbs. Interesting sideboard hate.
Despite the high cost, this can add up a lot of damage very fast against decks that mostly rely on nonbasics.
Then again, that doesn't happen too often in Standard, and it's probably too slow for eternal formats.

It should be hilarious in EDH, though.
And punishes your friends for using Command Tower in their mono-colored deck.

Going straight into Urabrask EDH. For standard though, 4 mana may be too expensive. It depends on if Theros brings more dual lands with it as well.

Given how good the mana is for the next few months with both shocklands and buddy lands, this is going to be a powerful sideboard option for aggressive red decks for a while.

This would really screw a colorless EDH deck.

The Blood Moon of standard. (Obviously not as powerful.) Unfortunately it hasn't affected the number of basic lands run by standard decks by much so far.

Sideboard hate? Id say 4 out of 5 top-tier decks run no more than 4 basics. Many dont run any basics at all. If anything, this is more like "sideboard out against mono-red"

This thing tore me up at FNM last week. Must be answered if you play three colors!

An amazing and very underrated card. Many players are running 3 color decks atm with a whole host of nonbasic lands, and this card in a monored or red/x deck with mostly basics can just be back breaking. Just saw Kibler drop it in round 6 of the world championship, when he had 4 basics (and only 2 nonbasics vs Duke's 5 nonbasics and 1 basic) - and given that he already had the upper hand, he basically strangled any hope out of Duke of making a comeback at that point.

They had better ban this stupid card or they could lose a lot of players this year. I can see the headlines now "New Theros Dual Lands Make Excellent Wallpaper!" "Desperate Man Uses His Collection Of Shocklands As Toilet Paper!!! What Is This Game Coming To?" I think this card is going to prove to be a 'Whoops!' The stupid aggro decks are way too obnoxiously fast the way it is. This god-forsaken card will make them impossible to beat. Honestly, who wants to go back to derp-derpity-derpderpderp mono-colored decks. FAIL!!!

Cards like this are great, because they selectively punish players who spend too much money on their decks, while leaving new players, or those just not willing to spend as much, unscathed. Which in turn makes it a lot easier for new players to break into the game.

Found a new card for my mono red goblin deck... Heck, this could easily be the finisher on turn 4 when they are lower on health and needing to drop a big creature or spell....

Oh Gosh, I have so many non-basic lands in my deck...... But glad that I put Prismatic Omen in my sideboard for my modern deck.... :)

@Ike38 I don't think Prismatizc Omen will protect you from this. Your lands are now every basic land type in ADDITION to their other types, so they are stil nonbasic.

It's narrow, sure, but in the situations this card matters it dominates the game entirely... There are numerous standard decks that run >50% nonbasic lands. This should be rated higher.

*Ahem* Excuse me for playing Aetherling liek any blue ***got out there

...but wouldn't this card, along with manabarbs, pithing needle, pull from eternity etc, be an excellent pressure game against its blink-wall-offense rape?
