One of the most undervalued cards in Legacy. Always either run this, or be prepared to play against it.

one of the cornerstones of my "red deck wins" deck. it completely messes up the opponent's mana curve.

If your opponents play a deck filled with multicolored lands, they are pretty much screwed.

Could be good with Valakut

Sacrier; this is horrible with Valakut. It doesn't give Valakut the type Mountain, it turns it into a Mountain so it loses its ability.

this is just Blood Moon on legs. i like it better sense it can swing. but is much easyer to kill.

Plays havoc with your opponent's mana base and renders your Mountainwalkers unblockable. Game winner.

This is my least favorite magus to see in the side seat of a friends car driving by my house rolling his window down....

This card gets my vote for best artwork in the game. And also for one of my favorite creatures of all time. I loved playing my rogue mono-red deck back when Time Spiral block was still in Standard because nobody ever expected this guy. Especially not on turn one thanks to Rite of Flame. 5/5 for me. He is, was, and will always be a beast.
Anyone else think of Skull Kid from Majora's Mask when they see the art on this card?

Ohh WOW I want this for my EDH deck! They always ridicule me for running Spellbook with their fancy Reliquary Tower's. Who will be the one laughing now, after I force you to draw 50 cards!?

Blood Moon is powerful. Magus of the Moon is good too. Just not in quite the same league as some of the other Magi. Still a good way to school kids on what Magic used to be.
I predict its fanbase will rise immeasurably soon, since Innistrad's Werewolves are confirmed to be Red.

@The_Trendkill How would you cast him on turn 1 with only Rite of Flame? That would give you a total of 2 mana, not 3.

As I've said with Blood Moon- I would rather play Ruination in most cases. As you've been told before Blood Moon's benefit is that people aren't getting to play non-basic lands anymore unless they want the mountain, and now mountain walk is suddenly very appealing. Another thing you probably don't realize is that when you have 1 mountain and need 2-3 but all you have is 2 non-basic lands that tap for color or a different color you can always bloodmoon or use this magus and voila brand new mountains. You also seem to forget ruination effects you too.

Ruination is often more temporary than Blood Moon. Both are good, though.

i dont see why you guys say this ruins mana bases. alls this does is change the card to have the land type mountain, meaning its other abilities are left un changed. the only time this skrews with thier mana is if they run non-basics with land types, the only popular ones i can think of are alpha duals, ravnica duals, cloud post, and urzatron

No, its other abilities are NOT left unchanged. If you read the rulings, it says specifically that nonbasics become Mountains that have no other ability besides "T: add to your mana pool" just like any old Mountain has. Your manlands are mountains and can't swing. Your fetchlands are mountains and can't search your library.
Moreover, In just about every format outside of standard, the majority of a given deck's land base is formed of nonbasic lands...fetchlands, alpha duals, rav duals, and wastelands especially. If he resolves, this one guy can single-handedly shut down so many decks it's not even funny, and most red aggro decks will prefer to use him over Blood Moon because unlike the enchantment he is a creature and can therefore wield a sword and beat face. I give him five stars; he deserves it.

Heheheh.... there's a Spike in my playgroup who always plays Azorious control with his stupidly expensive deck. He only uses shocklands because he thinks there's no point to using basics. I'm putting this in my Izzet deck and I'm gonna cast it with a counterspell in hand. Bye-bye control! :D

Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Blood Moon and is part of the "Magus" super cycle of rare creatures. The Future Sight part of the cycle focuses on powerful enchantments, even matching the mana cost; the others are Magus of the Future, Magus of the Abyss, Magus of the Moat, and Magus of the Vineyard.
