Note: You don't have to sacrifice this enchantment. SUICIDE ATTACKS FOR EVERYONE!!! :D

I'm so torn if this is gonna be any good in limited. Once it gets running, it's gg for your opponent. But until then, it's a wasted 3-drop that could have been advancing your board position. *sigh*

Wait wait wait.... it doesn't say "combat damage to a player" it just says "deals combat damage".

"Oh, I admit it. It's only two-alarm. Two and a half, tops."
Great card for Limited. Could be worth experimenting with in Constructed, but it seems a little slow.

Even when your creatures block they deal combat damage, even a token decks could use this as a finisher :D
This rings alarms. Naturalize before it's too late!

I have a question: This card says "Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage..." Does this mean that if a creature has double strike that two counters could be put on this enchantment if the double striking creature gets to assign first strike damage and then regular damage?

IO think this is better than what it's rated. Don't forget you don't have to sac it which means it's repeatable!

When Five-Alarm Fire is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put five "Alarm Fire" tokens onto the battlefield.

i thought this card was bad, but then i realized that having a play-set of these might work. you can gain more than one blaze counter per turn, depending on how many of your creatures were involved in combat. so this usually sets off in fewer than 5 turns. moreover, when you remove the counters, the enchantment remains, ready for another round of damage. do it once or twice in an aggro deck and you've won.

I was going to make a quip about why this didn't cost five mana, but then I noticed that it already had five instances of five on the card.

Why the low rating? This card is good. I'm guessing people can't read.
Does NOT require you to sacrifice the enchantment to deal damage Does NOT require combat damage TO a player (blocking will trigger this)

One of those cards that is easily worth making a deck around. Thatcher Revolt definitely comes to mind.

Four words: Silverblade Paladin, Boros Charm. Double strike makes this thing viable, folks. Keep in mind that it works on defense, too. Any creature you control, and instance of combat damage it/they deal(s) trigger this. It's not nearly as unplayable as I'd originally thought—it just (unfortunately?) has a lot of ferocious competition at its CMC.

It might work in limited, but my feeling is that you could be using that three mana to strengthen your forces for combat, if you run out of creatures this card will be useless. So unless your opponent isn't able to play any creatures, you certainly don't want to be putting this down on turns 3-4 even in limited, as for later in the game, well... any decent Boros/Gruul deck in standard doesn't have a late game.
Maybe there's a trick combo in EDH where you could put heaps of counters on it.

i think a made a infinite damage combo but someone correct me if Boros Reckoner and Boros Charm and Five-Alarm Fire sorry for bad english but if you were to combine all of these boros reckoner has indestructibility hits himself in the face when blocked or you block with him and keeps hitting himself in the face since this is combat damage when he hits himself in the face 5 times wouldn't the five alarm fire have 5 counters on it meaning you hit your opponent for 5 then restart the loop again?

Its like Luminarch Ascension for aggro decks. I borrowed my goblin deck with recently added two copies of Five-Alarm Fire to my friend the other day. He managed to pull it out twice dealing 15 damage in each game. Its awesome in token/aggro deck to both destroying big creatures and finishing opponent. Worked better than Goblin grenade or everything else I tried.

I used to think that this card sucked, but I put it in my goblin deck nonetheless. Turns out I played it and my friend pointed out that it was all combat damage, not just damage to a player. I ended up winning just through chump blocks and weenie attacks, with this thing burning through my opponent like nothing else.

I think this is a great card. A player with about a year more recent experience than me thought it was broken as heck, reading it. Running it with Innistrad human tokens ( Thraben Doomsayer, Increasing Devotion) makes a great complement to Kessig Malcontents.
The thing that people underestimate is that this is FIVE damage. Creature, or player, five damage. Someone stacks up big toughness and power against you, kamikaze block, deal him five more on the main, you can kill 10+ toughness easy, or spread it out and kill like three different creatures. I mean, that'll only work once and only if your opponent wasn't ready for it/thinking, but that comes up more often than you might think.

Ew. The cumulative damage just isn't worth the three mana, especially when there are things like wear // tear floating around. No no. Will not do.
I would have liked to see something that delivers in increments, little bits at a time. It should have been designed:
--
Back-Alley Arson -- 1RR
Enchantment
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage, put a blaze counter on Back-Alley Arson.
Remove a blaze counter from Back-Alley Arson: Back-Alley Arson deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
--
This design provides instantaneous (albeit relatively small same-turn) advantage. It'll help slower UR or BR decks keeps pace with things like Wojek Halberdiers and Ash Zealot. You can also just save up the counters and get a similar win-con effect this way.
