Honestly this needed better Modern art. It doesn't kill Progenitus, but Griselbrand, Emrakul, or Phyrexian Obliterator would all have been cool to see him fight.

@DarthParallax: Did it really? I always loved this art. Makes me think of Eowen fighting the Witch-King in Return of the King.
This was a great reprint. I wish they had done this before I got my white-boarded copies. It's fantastic removal, shows White's part of the removal color pie (good for introducing newer players via the core set it's in), and gives you and your opponents newfound appreciation for 3/3s - and there are a lot you'd wish this guy could take out.

Intrepid Hero: What just happened here?
Big Game Hunter: Didn't you know? Wizards did a power creep and creatures are bigger than ever
Intrepid Hero: What madness is this?!
Big Game Hunter: Oh and they gave stuff like...Smite the Monstrous to deal with them. I have been fighting them alone all these times, lets team up to rid ourselves of these silly creatures
Intrepid Hero: "LET ME AT THEM!!"
Welcome back slayer of big creatures!

Cool combo I saw at the prerelease: This+Rancor on an opponent's creature.
Haha, I love seeing comments about this guy and the powercreep over the past few years. This indeed calm things down a bit :) With that it's even greater than it was before. It just gives a smile to my face that a card of my time (7th edition) comes back, with a glorious reception from players :)

After a small break, politely asked by Emrakul, the aeons Torn and friends in order to avoid disgrace, our Hero is back to business.

It's a shame they didn't do new art for this guy. Would be neat to have him victoriously standing over Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis or something.
@SyntheticDreamer Poor guy never gets credit for it. Everyone was busy running from Emrakul to notice the tiny figure bravely crawling up his giant bulbous spaghetti body.

we need art of him resting in a rocking chair with his armor and sword on a rack beside him, and he's a beside a fireplace where every single demon and dragon's head is above it

Pulled this from a booster, and even though hes cheap $$$ wise, I was glad I got him!
@Totema: That can easily be resolved if Intrepid Hero has already been out for at least one turn and the creature is/can be made to have a power of 4 or greater. You wait for your opponent to choose his targets, then tap Intrepid Hero in response. If he isn't 4 or greater then play something after tapping Intrepid Hero to make the other creature stronger and then resolve the stack.
BUT otherwise yeah, that is a pretty easy way to get rid of him if you aren't prepared like in the scenario above.

This is an excellently crafted card.
Logically, you'd think a giant-slaying hero would be bigger than a 1/1. I mean, as everyone's saying, he can kill the non-Ulamog Eldrazi!
However, that's just his thing. It's his speciality. If you asked a Chef to do your Tax Returns, do you think they'd do a good job?
So when he's facing normal creatures, like Goblins and such, he's confounded: "Where's the giant horns? Where are the wings? I have no idea how I kill this thing..."

Does this card indicate it can destroy an opponents creature with 4 or greater or the card attacks with 4 or greater?

He reminds me of Link from "The Legend of Zelda": He is rather small and weak, yet somehow he manages to defeat creatures way more powerful than him. Probably by stabbing them in the eye ;-) And both are "intrepid heroes", of course.

This guy is relevant, versatile, and a lot of fun to play. He is a bit fragile, but some decent equipment (the usual Lightning Greaves/Swiftfoot Boots, etc.) can protect him, and there are plenty of ways to boost his power/toughness. I find Ring of Thune (from the same set, even!) is an excellent way to make him stronger. Plus, he can then attack and use his ability the same turn.

One of the few Urza's Saga card not broken, not underpowered, just balanced! I'm not a fun of this art. The shield, the armor and the sword are so much bigger than the man who's handling them. Especially the sword, I don't think that was designed to be used with only one hand.
@Ferlord: Ahahahah! Funny quote...!
However, this is the kind of white removal that I like. Full of flavour, not undercosted, doesn't put on shame the black ones, not exile-nonsense... I've never undestood why white has so many exile removal...
