This would be pretty good if the equip costed 2 less. It's very flavorful, but just kinda meh power-wise

I think the ability doesnt justify the equip cost. I could see the cost if it was "tap. destroy target werewolf"... otherwise, i think it costs too much.

Equip cost is pretty nasty. In Modern I'd take Viridian Longbow instead almost any day of the week.

GAAAAAAAH I JUST GOT SHOT THROUGH THE HEART, OH GOD

oh! oh wait, it's only silver. Hahah, PHEW! Only 1 damage then, doesn't matter cause it's just silver! THANK GOD I'M NOT A WEREWOLF, OR I MIGHT HAVE ACTUALLY DIED!

I find it funny how it kills werewolfs and yet does nothing to regular wolfs.

I like it.
It can be tutored with Trinket Mage + Attached with Brass Squire.
Not the the best combo there is but all the same, I can't wait to get my PING on.
- I might even throw in a Soliton for good measure.

Would be better if the equip cost wasn't so insane

Seems like wizard's fear of repeatable colorless damage sources has reared it's ugly head again. This is starting to get silly. Please tell me how it costs as much mana to equip this as it does to cast a bane-slayer angel. Last time I checked it wasn't really hard to put on a quiver. It's not like it's a grafted exoskeleton. 0.o

Awesome! I can get this out on turn 1 and equip it on turn 5! Wait...

First ability: Hooray!
Werewolf bonus damage: Hooray!
Equip {5}: Never mind...

Okay, take a seat. Yeah, sit right there. Want me to put the pot on? No? Anything to eat? You're okay? Okay. Good. Now, I need to ask you something. It's very important. Hey, don't be like that. It's okay. Just look at me... look at me... okay? Good. Now...

WHY ARE YOU 5 MANA TO EQUIP?!

Found myself nodding and wondering why the rating was so low until I got to the equip cost. Then I just got sad.

Would be more playable if it was 3 CMC and 3 equip, but even then it's still overcosted. Unless Avacyn Restored brings out some kind of artifact equipping utility, like a Puresteel, this won't move out of the "fun gimmick" category.

But it was sure fun to strap this on my Diregraf Captain in the pre-release.

It costs 1 to make a pile of silver arrows, but 5 to teach someone how to fire them proficiently. Makes sense to me.

You know what really bites? A turn in which you're paying 5 mana to equip the Wolfhunter's Quiver, you're probably not playing another spell.

Trying to use this card probably just made the werewolves more dangerous.

Puresteel Paladin would take care of the equip costs...but you still probably wouldn't see this card in any other format apart from casual.

Addendum: After thinking about it and thinking about Kryptnyt's comments regarding the repeated equip and tap with Puresteel Paladin, I realized that you could take it even further you equipped one or two Galvanic Juggernauts, which would untap once a creature died (assuming that you're just taking out creatures with 1-2 toughness). Wanna really abuse it? If you have nothing but artifact creatures, repeatedly equip and ping, and use Unwinding Clock to untap all your artifacts, and repeat the process on your opponent's turn.

I think Avacyn Restored will have some ways of cheaply equipping Humans to fight off the Werewolves and other evil creatures. 'Til then, I'll put this card aside.

First time I saw this card, I was thinking it was pretty great. 1 mana, makes anything a pinger. Then I finally noticed the equip cost. Usable with Puresteel or the Myr, that's about it.

It sure takes a lot of magical resources to make a creature under your control pick up a quiver...

Amoeboid Changeling or Imagecrafter, etc. for some 3 damage "werewolf" shenanigans, could be fun. Also Puresteel Paladin, Brass Squire, Auriok Windwalker or Stonehewer Giant can help equip costs.

This card ain't doin it on its own, people, but with proper help, it CAN not suck.

@Toquinha1977: you can equip only as a sorcery, so unwinding clock wont help you equip it on your opponents turns. BUT it will untap your galvanic jug, so you can ping for 1 -3, kill something and untap and repeat, it just won't untap on your untap step. Leonin Shikari for insta-equip, or some of the aboved mentioned equip helpers. puresteel doesn't help to instantly equip, but he sure is handy/is a god with shikari in play.

all in all, this seems like a whole lot of work and other good cards to make one card suck less.

Alright with Puresteel Paladin? Free to equip, so ping-equip-ping-equip. Then finish off your opponent with Mortarpod shots!
Equip cost is high so that you can't easily turn your creatures all into pingers, which would be strong in limited for sure.
EDIT; Very nice in limited, there's a few nice combos for it there. Anything with Deathtouch is obvious, and powerful, but things like Midnight Guard, Niblis of the Breath, and Galvanic Juggernaut hadn't occured to me at first.
It's star role, however, is killing Huntmaster of the Fells. TWANG!

This is a LIMITED card, people.

Getting one of these on a Midnight Guard, Galvanic Juggernaut, Kessig Recluse, Typhoid Rats, Diregraf Captain or Ambush Viper completely locks down the board in draft. Even without one of these synergistic creatures, having 5 mana open means you can ping twice each turn, and keeping that 1 damage up makes first strike and Geistflame a lot better.

If it were any cheaper to equip, it would be completely overpowered in limited. Wizards learned from their Viridian Longbow mistake.

The Quiver with Juggernaut and onyx mage is a Sure thing for black and one he gets deathtouch on juggernaut you just paid the same amount of mana for a doom blade if juggernaut is equiped with quiver to wipe out all there creatures sounds good to me. so yah ill pay the five mana to equipe

I would love to see a duel between someone wielding a Razor Boomerang and someone equipped with this. No matter who loses, we all win.

It got 5 to equip cause you put it on something with Deathtouch you break the game. Like Typhoid Rats. Yeah.

This is a very narrow use equipment for starters, and it's ridiculously overcosted to equip. Next to useless, and even against werewolf decks (which are typically fast aggro decks), i'd look for better creature control alternatives.

Puresteel Paladin thinks you're all asses for complaining about the equip cost.

★★★★☆ (4.1/5.0) (4 votes)
Flavourfully, this is as hard to equip as a Batterskull or a Worldslayer.

As in, a simple bow and arrow takes the same effort to equip to someone as it does to equip a world-destroying greatsword or a giant battering ram that sucks the life out of its targets.

WAT.

Guys, they were really pushing the horror tropes in this set.

I think the {5} to equip is the cost, monetarily, of equipping a guy with silver-tipped bolts. Silver ain't cheap. Doesn't justify it, especially not at uncommon, but at least it's a reason.

Its made for its own limited environment. They want it to be a clean up equipment late game, but they increased the cost to give werewolfs a chance.

This card is a prime example of how R&D doesnt mind destroying a card for limited.

1 to cast? Looks pretty cool so far.
Ping stuff? Nice.
Ping werewolves for 3 instead of 1? Loving the flavor.
Equip... 5?

Whoa whoa whoa, back that ass up.

Five mana to equip this.
Five fucking mana to equip this.
If it were 3, I might actually play it. If it were 4, I might use it in limited.
But 5... that's just ugly expensive. 0.5/5.

Pff! I don't see why u guys are hating so much. If I had a stylish looking quiver like that i'd strap that mother on my back as soon as i could. *Looks at pricetag* 5 mana to strap this on, huh? *Puts the quiver down and backs away slowly*
