Tempered Steel, Percursor Golem, Indommitable Archangel. 5/5 this goes right into white artifact decks. plus 3 mana for a 1/1 and a 3/3 first striker thats tempo to tha pepsi max.

Looks more like it should have been a "good uncommon." Is mythic rare an excuse to print former uncommons as rares, and by result of that, not guaruntee a rare in every pack? Maybe. I say it could have been uncommon just simply because its simple and not above the curve...

Best Splicer, not even close, but that kind of bugs me.
It feels like they arbitrarily made this one cheaper than the rest for the sake of making this one rare.

I totally agree with HairlessThoctar. There's no thematic difference between this, Master Splicer and Sensor Splicer, only that the more rare one is costed more aggressively. This is not how vertical cycles should be - the rare on top of the cycle is supposed to be more epic in feel, like Bust // Boom.
She's kinda hot. Even with the giant claw-arm implant thingies. Golem tribal FTW!

This seems to ramp out nicely into a T4 Shape Anew into a Blightsteel Colossus. 'Specially because Blighty is a golem himself. OBVIOUSLY the only thing an 11/11 trample/infect/indestructible was lacking was first strike to be playable.

This is the laziest rare I've seen in a while.
"Hey guys, let's make a splicer that gives your golems first strike. Oh, and let's make it just a bit more cost efficient. Great, now slap a rare on it. Excellent!" - R "Because We Can" & D.
Also, this really makes me want to make a Green/White golem deck.
Also, having one of each of those out is 85 points of trampling, regenerating, first strike goodness, if my math is right.
Go go Golem Tribal!

Now all wee need is another Splicer, probably in black called "Ichor Splicer" or something that will give them death touch. Then drop the two of them out with a Vital Splicer and a Tempered Steel and you'll be in business.
Alternately, in capable hands, this can help you net a Blightsteel Colossus turn 4

I like it although I'm not so sure I agree with how good it is. It's no spectral procession. When you consider that porcelain legionnaire is a 3/1 first striker for either 2 and 2 life or 3 mana though, this is at least pretty close if not better in some ways. I feel like first strike isn't that good these days though, at least on a small creature. Squadron hawks fly, and stoneforge will be making your creature either bigger or unblockable.. or both.. once you get a sword out. Green creatures are too big, or kill artifacts and so will just kill the golem, and red creatures.. well ok it kills red creatures.. but then you would be fighting a red deck full of lightning bolts.
I think it's good, I'm just skeptical on whether it's so good as to show up somewhere in a tournament style "white weenie" aggro deck.

It does fill mana curves nicely for a Golem deck. It's somewhere between your Throne of Geths or Golem Foundry and the other splicers. Like the splicers, though, they'll probably see mostly casual play.
Don't forget your Xenograft for the splicers themselves, though.

I feel like this is a rare not arbitrarily, but because it makes Dread Statuary take down half the creatures in magic. And makes Loadestone Golem very annoyingly take down the the rest.

@hairless thoctar: That's exactly what they did. Magic has been correlating rarity with playability for a while now. The only problem is when they make cards which almost inevitably become essential to tournament play, then decide they'll be rares or mythic rares. Because apparently the fun part of magic is chasing mythic rares through booster after booster, or simply gazing longingly at people with the money to do so.
If blade Splicer gets lighting bolt as it comes into play does it still spit out a golem
Morgrath

@Vlion: Yes, because it needs to be a permanant to be bolted, and it's not a permanant til it's on the battlefield. Therefore, the fastest you can bolt it is after it resolves, but the golem trigger will always hit the stack before you can respond.

I think this has the potential to be good even outside of dedicated splicer decks, as its two creatures for 3 mana. One of them a 3/3, you don't normally get a 3/3 even by itself in white for 3 mana without a drawback, and as long as the splicer stays alive, it has first strike, which is even better.

I don't know about you guys but I would play this even outside of a golem deck. for three mana, you're getting two creatures. that's card advantage.

3/3 first stike plus a 1/1 for 3 converted mana cost is very good. I've been frustrated playing against this creature many times.

Can't. Stop. Pulling. These.
My first 5 packs of New Phyrexia and I pulled 4 of these things. Not that they are bad, just isn't typically my color. Well, my friend was happy. He his playset for his Tokens deck and now I absolutely HATE playing against them. In this Sword environment, tokens should not be these efficient. I need to revoke my loan of them and sell them one of these days.
I think its funny how these Splicers don't have the abilities that they offer to the golems as many lords do. I guess its one of "Those that can't do, teach" cases.
Guys, I just realized if you play Vital Splicer and Blade Splicer at the same time, it pretty much turns your golems into Wolverine.

Seems like she may have a little last moment in the sun before rotation with various White midrange strategies being well poised in early Avacyn Restored and Sun Titan and Restoration Angel kicking around to abuse her ETB effect.
This card is pretty ridiculous: A 3/3 first striker and a 1/1. It, Master Splicer, and Wing Splicer are the only splicers you'll ever need.

Just doesn't seem fair, does it, getting a 3/3 first strike golem for 3 mana with an additional 1/1 body. There is so much that the golem can block and kill that it's a nightmare for aggro decks to deal with, as well as being very good in aggro decks themselves. Restoration Angel and Cloudshift only makes it even better.
The best thing is, a lot of novice players have no idea how to deal with it. They often kill the golem, rather than the splicer itself. That often wins me the game right there.

Also known as the "Playable Splicer"
She's quite good though with other golems in general. Play her next to Lodestone Golem for a giant, hard-to-kill, board-stalling beater.
