Precursor Golem.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

I hope more non-artifact, artifact-producing cards come out later this block to make this thing more effective than it seems to be at the moment.

In standard, I think currently the best use of Shape Anew is to run 4 trinket mages plus 1 zero cmc artifact such as everflowing chalice and your bomb artifact of course. That way you can least remove the variance from what you're polymorphing into.

Sighs abound. Wish I’d attended the pre‐release. That way I could have a BlueTapColorlessRedWurmcoil EngineBlueTapColorlessRed to artifact BlueTapColorlessRedpolymorphBlueTapColorlessRed into!

Only put in Darksteel colossus, Wurmcoil engine etc, and stick in a bunch of sorcery cards (Master's Call) that give you artifacts?

idk, in standard it doesnt seem like there is a whole lot of things you can do with this card, and in extended polymorph is going to be better 90 percent of the time, because there are plenty of non creatures that get you tokens that you can sac for big eldrazi or such, not too many non artifacts that get you artifacts. And besides, 19 times out of 20 your gonna be searching up for a big creature. In standard the only things that can really justify that are platinum emperion and wurmcoil engine, neither of which seem to really be a "Be all end all" card. Dont get me wrong, theyre fantastic cards, but even a single wurmcoil engine isn't going to end the game.

I'd love to use this as an answer to my friend's Darksteel Forge. "Whoops, did I turn your Forge into a Myr? I'm sorry..."

It gives blue a way to cheat out Blightsteel Colossus, and blue a way to get rid of it.

Inkmoth Nexus seems to be one of the best targets for this, as it can tap for mana, poke your opponent for infect, and it isn't an artifact unless you want it to be.

Hey look! It's Tinker's little brother! Lets figure out how to break him too!

I bought these as soon as the spoiler for Blightsteel Colossus came out.
Great investment, since each went up $5.

Wow, Wizards made Tinker safe for Type II by making it cost more and function like Polymorph.

I think it's funny, all the people talking about this for a deck running blightsteel colossus as the only artifact.
You know what else this functions as?
Removal for Blightsteel Colossus. Of course, it'd (probably) never happen, but it would be the single most hilarious play I've ever seen. Maybe in a mirror match.
"I use Shape Anew... *reveal* Blightsteel colossus. Pass."
"I cast shape Anew on your blightsteel colossus. *trollface* umadbro?"

No one has pointed this out yet, so I figure it is my duty.
Shape Anew combos PERFECTLY with the new splicers!
The best being Blade Splicer because she costs 3 mana, and is in the same color as all the Master's Call you were already running!

@BDragon123, If you used Shape Anew on a Blightsteel Colossus in a Shape Anew deck, you would simply cause him to fetch another Blightsteel Colossus....

Hey little 1/1 Myr token, how would you like to be a Blightsteel Colossus?

@Sleazebag
Nope, this sacs. Sacing gets though indestructibility just like 0 toughness does. Now Polymorph is another story...

Edit: Never mind, I reread your comment. I'll leave this here in case someone else might get that idea.

Okay, how about using this card on a Clone Shell with which you have a really awesome thing imprinted on, perhaps your planeswalker or a really good enchantment, and then you shape anew him to pull out your blightsteel colossus. What do you think?

Blightsteel is clearly one of the best cards to tutor up, but what happens if you're running one and your opponent Shape Anew's it? I mean if that's the ONLY artifact in your deck, does it get re shuffled into your deck before the second ability activates because the card reads "sacrifices it, then reveals cards..." or does the ability trigger and then the Blightsteel get shuffled into the library? The easiest solution would be to run two in a deck but I don't want to buy one :(

Two minor points:
Inkmoth Nexus is not usable till you have 5 mana available: inkmoth, 1 to activate inkmoth (could be inkmoth itself), 4 for Shape Anew.
Phyrexian Rebirth is another late card to trigger Shape Anew.

I wish this had been a deck for at least a little bit during its tenure in standard, damn you Caw-Blade and Valakut!

Worth noting that this can remove indestructible artifacts.
