Just like Chronomaton, this guy serves an important role in Jace's deck as an artifact creature.
Not only does his typing allow him to dodge Grisly Spectacle and block Vraska's Intimidate creatures, but being a manland also allows him to dodge her sorcery removal cards like Marsh Casualties.
Having four power should allow the Statuary to trade well with some of Vraska's tougher creatures, particularly valuable ones like Ohran Viper and Spawnwrithe. Not only that, but the Statuary will be a valuable attacker for beating face or knocking the last few loyalty counters off of Vraska herself, should the opportunity arise.
Remember, the statuary can only dodge Vraska's -3 as long as its not a creature, so be careful of activating it's ability during the other player's turn.
Edit: Holy, good eyes steinburger1109! I stand corrected, the Statuary can dodge Vraska's -3 even while it's in creature form. I suddenly like this guy a lot more in Jace's deck; there are far too few things in there that can avoid Vraska's -3. Excellent inclusion.
