I've been thinking about using it in a Pod deck, along with Curse of Death's Hold. I can either feed it into a Birthing Pod, grab a Wurmcoil Engine and get the curse, or I can feed it to a Mortarpod, kill any target creature I want, then grab the curse. Worth trying?

I'll have to wait for more curses before I properly evaluate this card.

Its clever that they gave it deathtouch. It should make an excellent blocker late game.

I love the flavor of this card. A witch that puts a curse on you as her final act. Cool card!

It may not be as good as Academy Rector but it's certainly a better combatant with Deathtouch. Although at a cost of 5 I hope they bring some very nice Curses in next expansions.

Flavor wise, this creature is beautiful.

If there are some sick curses coming from the next two sets, I'm building a curse deck and she'll be the star.

As a five mana 1/2 it threatens Chimney Imp's status as my favorite five mana 1/2 in black.
But it does not fly.

I totally missed that this has deathtouch. At first, I questioned the cards usability, but now I am sold.

The deathtouch does make it neat. I'm really happy that a key mechanic for black in this set is deathtouch.

THE FLAVOR, IT'S SO GOOD *vorthosgasm*

*reads mana cost* HURGH GUURRRRRRKKK

Ok, back to normal. Luckily those two extreme emotional states balanced each other out. Anyway, she's probably decent if your have Curses in your deck. I'm an expert of the obvious.

It's not bad... but I think that this would be still have been fair at 2BB

I have a feeling that this card is going to get better as block goes on. Watch out for some mean curses in the future.

Play alongside a pair of Heartless Summoning and you can Curse of Death's Hold your opponent for one black mana.

Shame there aren't really that many good curses out there yet.

Great creature that will undoubtedly get greater as the Innistrad block wraps up the second and third expansions. The art is also great, I love the design for the witch. I wish she was part of the Hag creature type, though. Would've been nice to see them return.

She's a big fat meh, right now. Rather or not she stays that way is entirely dependent on the next two sets. At present, there are six curses in the game. Not impressive.

I'll hold onto mine, for now. The only usable one for her is Curse of Death's Hold. Most of the others are either not worth her cost, or just too narrow.

Pff, this is sad compared to Totem-Guide Hartebeest. Given, different limited environment, color, and abilities, but the Totem-Guide actually saw play in Twin Pod I believe to fetch out Splinter Twin for Deceiver Exarch.

Also given, there aren't that many curses. . . yet. We shall see what the next 2 sets bring that may or may not make our Witch more or less bitter to play. And there's always Heartless Summoning to make her cost only {2}{B} or {B}.

I've held on to my foil of this, knowing Dark Ascension would bring more curses. How right I was. Lots of neat curses in Dark Ascension and this is a beautiful fetch for them. You'd be paying 4CMC for a Diabolic Tutor anyway to find a curse -- this is 1 more and it goes straight to the battlefield. Drop this, then play Altar's Reap.

as many people have stated, get two heartless summonings for...
B: Search library for a curse, put it into play attatched to target player.
and now with Dark Ascension, Curse of Misfortune seems like quite the logical choice as it repeats the effect each turn.

Her flavor text should say, "Feed me to your vampires!"

For those curious, it has 2 toughness because of the existence of one card: Heartless Summoning.

This with 2 Heartless Summonings= {B} : Search your library for a curse and put it onto the battlefield attached to target player.

P.S. Curse of Misfortunes.

Great to put Curse of Death's Hold, which by itself costs as much as the witch. Cast her, and save half the mana while also getting rid of a creature in the process.

Also this allows you to use nonblack curses in a monoblack deck.

Edit: she's a lot better as of Dark Ascension, now that there are a LOT more Curses around.

The art is so wicked!! = I feel she costs 1 too much but if WotC prints more Curses she will increase in use and value.

-Reprint curse of wizardry as an actual curse please?-

A shaman, you say?
You might not even need a mana ramp for this if you have a Leaf-Crowned Elder that can help her up...
Then you can order Kiki-Jiki to make her disappearing mirrored images repeatedly curse your opponent. (Because a triple-red mana cost obviously isn't a problem at all between a double-green and a single-black one.)
If you don't want to add red, you could also use Nezumi Bone-Reader...or even Shidako, Broodmistress.
Or just let her die while death-touching any moderately strong creature, you know...

Or, since she's a human, too (although medieval population probably would have toldl you that being a witch is mutually exclusive to being a human), try a block-constructed deck with Call to the Kindred.
And then corpse-trade that evil witch for great justice!

Even in a dedicated curse deck this is overcosted. ESP since it's LTB trigger not ETB. No one is going to attack you on the ground with this out anyway, unless they're going to kill you regardless. Maybe if it were flying + deathtouch... esp in current standard.

EPIC FAIL.

Here's a neat card for a curse deck: Helps you fetch your coolest curses, or Curse of Misfortunes so you can curse them turn after turn! Curse of Bloodletting can make Curse of Thirst (and Curse of the Pierced Heart) hit doubly hard. Curse of Echoes will seldom steer you wrong, and Curse of Death's Hold is brutal against weenie decks.

There's just one little problem: The Witch and five of the six curses I just mentioned are CMC 5! Assuming you're running, let's say, three Witches, three Curse of Misfortunes, and just one of each of the other five, that's ten cards maindeck all clogging up the same spot on your curve, and if you want to splash green to ramp into them, you'll be splashing the only color that doesn't have any curses! I'd say your best bet is to pick your favorites and then substitute cheaper curses for the ones you've cut. This CMC business isn't a dealbreaker, but it's worth being aware of if a curse deck catches your fancy.

Apparently she got killed by Garruk (http://wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/ur/201). And she fetches up Curses. Oh, the irony.

A Witch who costs 5 and gives my opponent curses? She really should be giving me +2 cards.

A relatively good substitute to Vampire Nighthawk when you want to abuse deathtouch with Thornbite Staff. She's a bit more expensive and doesn't have lifelink, but she can ping herself to fetch a curse in a pinch.
