and then green got unconditional spot removal. a 3/3 green beast is a great swap for a jace the mind sculptor or any of the titans. also good in limited to provide yourself with a 3/3 beast if you're desperate.

Just awesome.
Green had so few answers to creatures (barring artifacts that all colors had access to), and now it gets one that's cheap and an instant. But that's not all: it hits 'walkers directly, which was something that green could not do well outside the combat step. It's looking like a fantastic card for any permutation of casual / multiplayer / EDH formats.

Insane control in a color that just recently only got shroud added to its arsenal (Vines of vastwood). The idea isn't specifically to play it in monogreen deck. However, if you're playing green, chances are you won't be struggling in combat. Play it on offense, play it on defense (for example, when you're mana flooded), it screams for 4 in a deck.

I dig having a new way to kill planeswalker.. but I don't so much dig giving them a 3/3 beast. Yes, I'll play it, because how many 3 mana answers to a pw are there in standard? However, it's not really card advantage.. you're just choosing between the lesser of 2 evils. Do I give them more creatures.. or let them abuse a planeswalker.. and of course normally you will choose the beasty. Consider though, that they will get the first turn use of their planeswalker to draw cards, make their own beasties, kill something, etc, and then you give them another beast on top of it to kill it. It's kind of like saying, your opponent made you discard, draw a card or etc, and put a beast into play. At that point your opponent is still ahead, just.. without their pw.
The art and flavor reminds me of the ghost busters movie where they turn into those demon dogs. :)

@ Nayban - Your friends and you must also have a house rule where tapping lands somehow passes priority or uses the stack? Otherwise, you can't respond to somebody tapping their lands for mana. Just because a card says 'instant' on it doesn't mean you can play it whenever you want.
As for Beast Within, I think playing it Ratchet Bombs set to zero and Glissa the Traitor seems fun.

This New Phyrexia is somewhat inspired in Alien, isn't it?
Well, this spell is sooooo sweet for every green player. Not to mention that a color with less answers for enemy creatures got solid creature removal, it's not restricted to creatures, it can hit everything on the board... even at instant speed. Putting 3/3 is not so problematic, it's still much more easy to handle 3/3 token than let's say Walletslayer, Jace, etc... Green is going to be funny.

Finally!
Green's only "answers" were normally just having really powerful creatures to out-power opponents' creatures.
Wizards gave a few bones in the random form of psuedo-removal or such.
Now they threw green a whole flippin' skeleton.
Sure, a 3/3 beast is still somewhat of a threat,
But in exchange for their combo piece, planeswalker, etc. it's definitely the less of two evils.
Faster-speed, lower rarity, and easier color requirements than Vindicate. Yeah, sure, why not.

I have to say, this card doesn't make sense flavour wise. Lands, ok, that's a bit of a stretch depending on the land. Planeswalkers (except Karn) make sense because they're already biological. But enchantments? Artifacts? That makes no sense.
Know what'd be awesome tho? Make a huge (or infinite) 1/1 army. Use beast within and some duplicate combo to turn it into a 3/3 beast army. Precursor Golem and Xenograft would do, although there's bound to be another, better way to do it.

Even if you shouldn't find a nice target on your opponent's side to use this on (which is very unlikely, unless your opponent has only some harmless little chump blockers or a lot of stuff with shroud or hexproof), you could always use it on your side if you can make better use of it. Especially if you have something like Hatching Plans. Or simply a spare land (which might be the case in the late game).

And in new phyrexia we run green for removal.
Worst case scenario you blow up your own creature in response to some enemy removal and net yourself a 3/3 beast token.
Maybe late game you blow up an early O-ring, letting a minor threat come back into play, then recur o-ring with sun titan and deal with a newer, more prominent threat.
And those are some of the less effective uses of the card. Just great fun to play with, all-round.

I'm a little surprised it wasn't printed with the wording "destroy target nonland permanent." I'm not exactly sure how a beast is bursting out of a Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and destroying it. Also, very surprised it's not a sorcery. Even a sorcery-speed green removal spell for creatures as well as the normal artifact, enchantment, and sometimes lands is ridiculous. At least if it was sorcery speed and didn't target lands (since that just seems off, flavorfully), then it wouldn't seem like Green had a contender for top removal spells, and this card wouldn't seem as ridiculously out of color as it does. Well, I admit I'll still play it, out of color or not. After all, it is fun to say "Get rid of that 'walker, but here's a beast."

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0)(1 vote)
This is what green has needed for a long time. Good green removal. It takes out a *permanent*, giving green a direct way to deal with planeswalkers. It is also more versatile, able to do what a Vindicate can do, at INSTANT SPEED, for only one colored mana. The 3/3 beast token is barely a drawback compared to what you can remove with this, and can even be exploited. If needed, you can even use it on one of your own permanents, including a land, to use as a chump blocker during an opponent's attack, or to remove a pesky enchantment or equipment on an attacking creature to bring it down to size during combat.
This is a good example of "just when you thought you won the game GUESS WHAT? You didn't...."
