I would have loved me some (functional) reprint of Ashenmoor Gouger, but still 4/4 for 3 is something that has me thinking how many (living) equipments do I need in my RDW to make this card work.

Grifter's blade? Thoughts?

Uhh... Grifter's Blade can be played and equipped at instant speed, unlike Strider Harness. However, I concur that Grifter's Blade doesn't combo so well unless you want to go "Surprise! I blocked it after all!"

strider harness is just as fast as Grifter's Blade, is in the same block, a common, and the drone doesn't sit around for a turn as a removal target.
Downside is you need to hit your first 4 land drops instead of 3.
Piston Sledge would be my weapon of choice. A 7/4 swinging on turn 4. turn 3 if your 1 drop is a BoP

yes grifters blade can be played and equiped at instant speed. but the order in which you play the cards is different

1. land + ?
2. land + ?
3. land + strider harness OR land + drone
4. land + drone OR grifter's blade

either way your swinging on turn 4 with a 5/5
grifters blade makes it harder to react to the equipment.
strider harness makes it harder to react to the creature.

I thought it was hilarious during the 2010 POTY playoff when Guillame Matignon played this, had no equipment in play, and then Brad Nelson Arrested this XD. Rich Hagon, who was commenting on this match, made a remark about virtual card advantage.

I wish we had Lightning Greaves in the format so this would actually be constructed worthy.

All that aside, is anyone else reminded of the turret guns from the game Portal?

Cant Attack or block unless... Yah true. But its metalcraft that CAN be flung!

Don't underestimate it. These cute little guys win you the game when given, say Accorder's Shield. A turn 4 4/4 beatstick is nothing to laugh at, and it it just gets more monstrous from there. Well worth playing around with, if you've got a couple lying around.

Owned by Lurebound Scarecrow. Needs to be a wall that loses defender when equipped. In my pauper equipment deck, most of the time he's just a metalcraft enabler. I'm not about to take something from Kemba, Kha Regent just so this card can actually function.

Well, Myr Superion is even easier to abuse, and finally that's a reward in power/cost ratio that makes all the trouble worth it.

Just play any 3/3 for 3 in your colors over this. You won't regret it.

minus vorthos points for this card. as far as i know, mirrodin vedalkens have four arms!

that guy below the training drone, doesn't look like a human to me so he must be a vedalken, yet he only have two arms. sorry matt cavotta.

Just stick a Trusty Machete on him and you can be swinging on turn four with a 6/5. How often do you get to do that?

This artwork reminds me of the turrets from Portal.
However, stable card. A 4/4 with manacost 3, which has to be equipped first is a fair deal. Especially if you have a Brass Squire in play.

I just now realized there's a person in the art. That drone is huge and its weapons are MASSIVE.
