Regeneration is barely even around nowadays, so it basically can be considered Wrath of God.

They centered the text.
I figured they would have let Wrath of God keep that over this.
Guess not.

I was getting overwhelmed by the opponent's creatures in draft until I top-decked this, clearing his board and turning my Roc Egg into a 3/3 bird which then won me the game single-handedly.

I can't wait for DoJ to eventually cycle out (if ever). When it does it will drop in price, and hopefully tight-wads like me will finally be able to get a play-set of decent m^ss removal for only a few bucks (since few people from Type I will want it compared to WoG).

They should have a substitute of Damnation since white got their replacement. Still isn't bad. Every thing dies. Sure they can regenerate but few creatures do it unless you can make them do it. Glad they took off regenerate since making things unable to regenerate is a black-type ability.
I have an extended deck using 4 wraths, 4 day, and 4 damnations. It's nice when you play wither with WB. So many possibilities. I got ways to get all my creatures back in one go. How about you?

I'm still very upset that this replaced wrath of god (probably for political reasons, which makes it even sadder). Strangely, white/blue control has been running less and less of these as time goes by. That's fine with me. I feel like such a sissy playing with wrath lite.

It's a pity. I really liked Sorin's flavour text, although this has a certain beautiful simplicity. Ah, well, it's still a great card, and the ability of creatures to regenerate out of it isn't much relevant these days.

I like it for the fact that it made mass removal affordable. A single Wrath of God costs $14 on Cardshark, but a playset of M11's print of Day of Judgment costs $16, mainly because everyone keeps picking Wrath over DoJ in all formats where it's legal. I can only assume it's due to tradition, or perhaps because of the strictly better non-regeneration clause in WoG.
Serano4545- nope. Protection from X means it can't be targeted by, enchanted by, damaged by, or blocked by X. Because DoJ does none of those, it effect goes through.

I (and probably many others) have a love-hate relationship with Day of Judgment in standard. It's almost format defining. If you're looking at making a new deck (or doing considerable alterations to an existing one), this is the one card you need to either use, or be able to beat. For that reason a generic 'creature aggro' deck without much thought beyond strong creatures will get blown out of the water - judged if you will - all day long. A great example is a match I saw a few weeks ago - a GW Token/Lifegain contraption, and your typical UW control deck. As the GW guy dropped creature after creature, I, and probably anyone else bored enough to be watching was probably thinking "he's walking right into a Day of Judgment. Sure enough, turn 4, Day of Judgment - 4 cards for 1. That's card advantage that's hard to recover from that early on.
I mean, the card alone pretty much keeps Dauntless Escort in any deck that uses green and white. Eldrazi Monument, while a good card on its own, almost becomes mandatory in any mid game aggro decks - try running elves against a deck that uses it without the monument.
But I guess the meta would be vastly different without it, so I don't know if there's any grounds to complain as we can't tell if it would be significantly better or worse. I will say though - this is absolutely one of the best cards to get in limited. In constructed people expect DoJ to be running around and plan accordingly - in limited, people don't expect too many board sweepers. They feel no fear in overextending, getting out 4 big creatures to your one Infantry Veteran... then bam, Day of Judgment. Things can be tough when you only have 1 or 2 cards in hand and your opponent just killed ALL your creatures.

Just a question, not sure if it will work? Could you drop Day of Judgment, then cast Ethersworn Shieldmage as an instant, because of flash, and protect all your artifact creatures from destruction? I've been experimenting with an artifact deck and this might be a solution.

As long as this card is in standard, the control formula of "walkers and wrath" will continue to be. The fact that Planeswalkers stick to the board through this makes the spell entirely one-sided instead of it being a "reset button." In my humble opinion, it makes Standard a lot more boring; you can ONLY build decks that can work with or around DoJ.
Have the Aura, Spider Umbra, attached to both Kresh the Bloodbraided and Gilder Bairn. Have Kresh the Bloodbraided equipped with Sword of Vengeance while having Gilder Bairn equipped with Paradise Mantle. Before pulling this combo off, make sure you also control a Doubling Season. Once you are done making sure, cast Day of Judgment to kill all creatures on the battlefield except Kresh the Bloodbraided and Gilder Bairn since the Aura's attached to them have the Totem Armor ability. Thanks to Doubling Season, Kresh the Bloodbraided will end up with a lot of counters and use the abilities of both Pardise Mantle and Gilder Bairn to put a lot more counters on Kresh the Bloodbraided. Once you are done, attack with Kresh the Bloodbraided to win the game.

Is it weird that I like this card MORE than Wrath of God? I LIKE regeneration being good, I'm just sad they don't print it on enough creatures! Day of Judgment will still kill most creatures most of the time at a really reasonable cost. And hey, the DOJ deck could also be the regeneration deck! Like G/W with some things like Loxodon Hierarch or the new Scars of Mirrodin card Asceticism.

Destroying all creatures is primarily a white effect. Though black occasionally gets such effects, you should not look at Damnation as evidence the ability should be black, as it is from Planar Chaos, a set where the color pie was intentionally in disorder and not representing itself as it normally does.

Used to run duress because of this, but with duress the opponent would either have 4 different targets, or none at all, depending on the deck. That is why i switched to mind sludge. This seems to be undercosted on purpose, much like money sculptor and bankslayer, except this is affordable.

This card is FAR superior to Damnation or Wrath of God due to the fact that this doesn't ban out regeneration. If you play this, and have a nice enchantment (or good creatures), you can regenerate all your creatures, while still doing masses of damage to the opponent.

White removal is not the most user-friendly and kill-efficient but it has the most devastating and game-altering effect.
I like to call this the poor man's Wrath of God lol. However I like it for a number of different reasons. I look at this and Planar Cleansing as affordable alternatives for mass removal for magic players on a budget. It is cards like this that should be accessible to players that want to atleast stand some sort of a chance in semi-competitive magic. People who want to toss out a bit of extra dough, get an extra effect (Wrath of God which sounds fair to me).
This board sweep allows for regeneration strategy, which also works just fine. Even though I personally prefer Wrath of God, then Graceful Reprieve to bounce creatures back for the win.
Sure its not quite a Wrath, but in all honesty - cards like this are just what Magic needs. Affordable bang for your budget that get the job done. 4.5/5

Yes, very usable card. My question has to do with the wording: "Destroy all creatures".
Since it is a 'destroy' effect, would indestructible creatures survive? If not, why not? Since it is a 'white' source, would protection from white prevail? If not, why not?

This card and me have a love hate relationship. See, me and my buddies would always play these silly ridiculous token decks, where a common game would end up his army of 45 1/1's with double strike and lifelink that he could sack to prevent combat damage versus my army of 70 1/1s with double strike and lifelink and gettin almost twice as more every turn. Then we started getting into more competitive play, and he started picking up this card. I was still figuring out the best and fastest ways to play aggro in standard. He kicked my ass. Every time. So I hate this card cuz its annoying but it really has to make me think on how to beat it and has turned me into a better player.
And now I play control.

@StephenF: Indestructible creatures would survive. You can also regenerate a creature to save it from the graveyard.
Protection from white would not help a creature in this case. That's because protection only prevents the creature from being damaged, enchanted/equipped, blocked, and targeted. Anything else that might happen gets past protection.

I learned a valuable lesson a few weeks ago:
If you want your girlfriend to ever play Magic with you, do not cast this on her turn using Leyline of Anticipation. I can't blame her for not wanting to play after she gets you down to 2 life by casting a Malakir Bloodwitch, outnumbers you creature-wise 5 to 1 and believes she is swinging for the win in her first match ever. She didn't hit me again that match and I ended up winning easily.
She wouldn't play again for a month. I can't blame her.
I always figured that White's habit of focusing on weenies would balance this card out, since it would hurt them just as much as it would hurt the opponent.
Ah, how easily we forget that colours can be combined...
Still, I'm more of a red guy myself. When I want destruction, I want Worldfire levels of doom.
