Absolutely hilarious. Can go in everything from mono-red to mono-green to white to blue to black.
Absolutely wrecks a control matchup. They take two or sacrifice their Wall of Omens that's stopping your attackers.

Could be very fun in a mono red deck. Combine with Act of Treason to take out one of their creatures once you're done with it or squeeze a little bit more out of those Ball Lightnings. It might also make use of the goblin tokens you get from Goblin Assault.

oh my god I friggin love this card. Its hilarious AND a game changer. just run it with a grave titan and whenever it gets back to you, sac a token, and...BAM! Your opponent gets it again.

Awakening Zone is an obvious choice. Maybe a nice alternative win condition in a (likely not competitive) Mass Polymorph deck.
I love how you can pass this at instant speed. If it gets passed back to you, sac something and give it to someone else before your turn. So glad they printed this, very fun indeed.
Sounds like another job for Bazaar Trader!!! Vastly more targets to consider than grave Pact but the down side is that your opponent can choose to take the 2 damage instead of the sac. I would assume this Jinxed Idol may be in a red/black deck. From my small experience, I would be worried with what else bazaar trader would be used for...That little goblin makes me nervous sometimes. Jinxed Idol does seem like a never ending Pestilence to the players.

hey guys, i have 3 questions to ask about sacrificing and using this artifact.
Im quite new to magic and still confused with a few things, so please help me out.
1st question. If my opponent has 2 jinxed idol and 1 creature under his/her control, and during his/her turn he/she sacrifices the creature to pass back the artifact to me. Does it mean he/she passes the 2 jinxed idol back to me or just 1 jinxed idol? Or he/she needs to sacrifice 2 creatures to pass it back to me?
2nd question. If i have jinxed idol and a creature card called Viscera Seer : 1 Black mana 1/1 creature from M11 with the abiilities : Sacrifice a creature : Scry 1 . When i sacrifice it does it mean the jinxed idol goes to opponent and i get to scry as well? Or i only can choose one?
Finally, If my opponent has jinxed idol and 2 creatures under his/her control, in my turn i cast Consuming Vapors to him/her. he/she sacrifices a creature due to the spell, does it mean the jinxed idol comes back to me? Or he/she sacrifices the 1st creature and i gain life, then he/she has to sacrifice the 2nd creature to return the jinxed idol to me?

@teocl86 Activated Vs. Triggered Abilities
You see the colon after (Sacrafice a creature)? This colon is the tell-tale sign of an activated ability. You probably don't recognize it since most activated abilities use mana, but in truth anything before a colon is esentially a "cost" for activating the ability. Most of your questions seem to be confused between Activated abilities (which require a cost, for example Fauna Shaman) and Triggered Abilities (which "trigger" when a condition is met, for example Mortician Beetle)
1st question - Since the hot potato effect is an activated ability, in order to give the idol to you, your opponent must sacrifice a creature as a cost. So let's say they sacrafice the creature to activate one of the idols. Much like how mana is used up when you cast spells, the creature is sacraficed as a cost
(Important to note that this "paying" does not use the stack, so your opponent could not doomblade the creature you have already declared as a sacrafice for ability)
Thus, you cannot use one creature to pay for both abilities simutaneously
2nd question - Same deal as the first, Viscera Seer's scry 1 is also an activated ability, so you could not use the same creature to pay for both abilities at the same time, and the act of sacrificing a creature will not trigger both abilities.
3rd question - Since Consuming Vapors is a soccery, to take effect, it must resolve. This is important since simply casting the spell does not force your opponent to sacrafice a creature. Your spell initiates a stack, which allows your opponents to use their own spells or abilities in response.
Which in the case you propose, once you cast Vapors your opponent can respond by sacraficing one of the creatures to the idol. You would not gain life since the creature was not sacraficed as a result of your Vapors.
Then your spell would resolve, and your oppenent would be forced to sacrafice a creature, and you would gain life only from the creature they sacracficed as a result of your spell
On constructed: Never count combo cards out. This card is very good at what it does, and that presents the possibility of a combo-deck breaking out in standard. Not nearly good enough with Bazaar Trader, though.
On limited: If you get this late in a pack, take it. If you are running Act of Treason or Reassembling Skeleton (particularly Reassembling Skeleton), or if your opponent's deck lacks creatures, this card will win games for you.

People have mentioned combo potential a lot already (I use one of these in my casual Act of Treason/Bazaar Trader hijacker deck) but it's not really a strong enough combo to build a deck around. If you don't have other ways to keep pressure on the opponent they'll just keep it and deal with the damage.
Although as far as combos go, another decent one is a token generator like Awakening Zone, and adding Mortician Beetle to the mix isn't bad.

This card makes games a whole lot more fun! I wish WOTC would make more of this kind of thing.
Jinxed Idol, Bazaar Trader, and Phyrexian Revoker naming Jinxed Idol. The first is a triggered ability and the second is and activated ability. They cant give them back. Anyone no if this is incorrect?

@sneekandpeek
You are correct, using Phyrexian Revoker you can prevent them from being able to use the sacrifice ability. They would have to use a Bazaar Trader or something themselves to give it back.

I think we need a comment about the awesome artwork.
At first it looks like a totem of some kind of animal, but if you look carefully it is something more sinister... Great flavor, fits the text well.

Perhaps somewhat less useful now that every control deck worth its salt is running a squadron of Squadron Hawks... but still quite good, especially if you can spit out enough dorks to keep it profitably online.

Just sumbled upon this, and I gotta say I love it.
Its one of those cards that just give a great big "F*ck You" to any opponent not using a sacrifice deck. A good card to use with Reassembling Skeleton.
To me, the cost of its activated ability is as interesting as its effect. Outside of black, I don't think there's another standard-legal card that just lets you sacrifice creatures w/o an additional cost (such as tapping). Keep in mind that you can pay its cost several times before its effect resolves, given how the stack works. Practical applications for this include Viridian Emissary, Perilous Myr, or large-scale shenanigans with Nim Deathmantle :)
Easy combo with Young Wolf to put the pressure on right from the start.

If you have Magma Phoenix on the field then you probably have access to at least 4 mana the next turn. Drop this, sac the Phoenix and cast Pyroclasm. Your opponent takes 3 and hopefully you can manufacture a board wipe or at least wipe anything your opponent would have been okay with sacing just to save themselves 2 damage. Beginning of their upkeep and this make 5 damage and a board wipe from about 4 mana.

I'm somewhat confused as to how this could have been reprinted. I thought all rares up to and including Urza's Block or so are on the restricted list by definition, independent of how good or bad or expensive they are...
