This card sucks. If you do not have the ability to sacrifice creatures, i.e. no creatures, then you cannot draw. Take my advice and do not use it. If you do use it, then beware Wrath effects.

if you didn't skip your draw step this might be playable, it would also be rare.

This is, I mean, WOW. Uncommon? I thought deck engines were rare by default. SO easy to build around. Devour.dek, here I come!

Ugh, i just dont see myself ever playing this unless i had a sure way to destroy it if i ever ran out of things to devour. This card just seems very... risky... with all of the removal available right now, you could easily screw yourself over with this card.

This just seems so much worse than fecundity. Maybe it's not fair to compare, but this is just so expensive for the limited usability. I'm sure some people will have fun building around it though, which is nice.

There's definately some potential here. Obviously losing your draw phase and the cost are fairly significant drawbacks so you'd need to focus on getting the full potential from this. Having more than one in play also allows you to get card advantage more easily.

I'd also recommend a permanent with a sacrifice creature ability (Scarland Thrinax springs to mind) since they're more reliable than waiting for a devour creature.

Intersting card, but the "skip draw step" makes the card far to risky to be effecient.

This card is terrible. There are cheaper cards that do the same thing without the drawback.

Works well with mass sacrificing, assuming you have a card(s) that will do that for you. If you do it could offer you a huge card advantage. However the 3 color mana is just way off to beans, if Im playing :b: :r: then it's highly unlikely that I'd be also playing :g: and to splash some green in there for the sake of this card makes no sence to me. It would slow down my deck too much. Still, it could be fun to build a "fun" deck around.

Doesn't neccessarily have to be a drawback if your playing a fog deck.

Obviously theres not always a use for it, but I could see it being used in a variety of ways

Sounds like a bad recycle to me.
When you lose the card you sacrifice stuff with, you won't draw any cards anymore.
When you are out of creatures, ysou won't draw any cards anymore.

Sure, this card could draw you tons of cards quickly, but it might as well prevent you from drawing ever any cards again, if your opponent has the right removal at hand.

recycle at least triggered of anything you play, even lands.

I absolutely love this card. I run one in my Jund deck. If you have a three colour Jund deck, this card is brilliant. Don't cast until you have Filigree Fracture in your hand if you're that worried about it. Once this card is in play, the fun begins. Having a Mycoloth in your hand or in play helps. If half of your creatures are Devour cards and the other half (or even less) are Saproling generators, then you're set if all goes as planned. I would not use this card for anything but a Jund deck, however, and not outside of Standard right now. People are commenting on its cost, which I agree is a bit high. I'd like to see it 2BRG. As far as three colours, well, Shards of Alara has six themes, five of which are based on tri-colour decks, one theme based on 5-colour decks. It makes sense that a card falling into a tri-colour theme would be in fact three colours.

This card works very well in today's standard.

It would combo well with Myr Servitors. Long as one is on the board you could sack the rest for cards every turn. It's still a mediocre card...

This would be fun to use with Oath of Lim-Dûl in a Black Red Green token deck. Throw in more Lim-Dûl flavor like Lim-Dûl's Paladin and maybe even Limmy himself, Lim-Dûl the Necromancer, to put opponent's dead creatures into play as zombies then sac them with a Vampire Aristocrat or two. You'll draw into a few copies of Dragon Fodder and devour creatures in no time! Dragon Broodmother and Marrow Chomper would be nice additions. Verdant Force or Verdant Embrace might be too much Green, but would sure come in handy.

I would suggest using Dryad Arbor for some of your Green. They give you a few more creatures to sac to the Oath/Devour/Aristocrat!

This is not a hard card to build fun and unusual casual decks around! Granted those decks will be slow at first.

Definitely an interesting functionality to work with. Unfortunately it has a three-colored mana cost of 6...
It could have used a bit less mana imho - even if it was a cheaper mono-colored card they would still not have been required to be worried that it might turn out to be as powerful as Necropotence.

On the other hand, given that there are no creatures available, this will create a soft-lock for the user itself.
This still doesn't make it a useful card to Donate, but might even get relevant in a casual multiplayers game...one never knows ;)

Awful card with the cards currently available. Maybe there will be cards to come that will break this card, but for now, all it's good for is Donate.

An example of Wizards being really, really careful. They knew what would happen if they made this card cost 3 mana; every Spike in the world would jump to break it. 6 mana keeps this from going the way of Necropotence.

@Sanderleet: You want to play a four-color deck to make this work when Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry have much better and cheaper combos?

This condition is far too, well, conditional, to be useful with that much of a drawback.
If you get wrathed, you are endlessly screwed.
Were it not for the no draw step clause, this would be extremely playable.

I don't lie to giveaway my deck ideas but i really have to say this. This card is awesome to combine with Phyrexian altar and any card that creates token like Mycoloth, Saproling burst or even Beacon of creation. And if you have a mycoloth card with a good 1\1 saproling army combined with Dragon appeasement and Phyrexian altar, just trow in a Stream of life and Im leeting you all figure it out. Maybe it looks like alot of mana but phyrexian altar deals with it pretty good. And a I say a deck with this combination is an ultimate deck for 2 headed giant and multiple players.

Once you get this card out you can play a good chunk of your deck in one turn with the right combo of eldrazi spawn generators. Throw in an eldrazi monument and sarkhan the mad, and things can get spicy. You're basically drawing as many cards as you can play into an increasingly brimming mana pool. If you get wrathed, sac 7 spawns to draw a full hand in response. you can even use you're own wrath ( all is dust ) to rid your self of the enchantment if you're tired of it; of course you'll want to sacrifice it last so you can draw a few more cards first (since all is dust forces more instances of sacrifice).

@everyone whos worried about a necropotence-like break. There IS a 3cc, mono-colored version of this that DOESN'T replace your draws: Fecundity. No one has broken that one yet!

For reasons why this card can be completely awesome, refer to http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/ftl/114. The top deck that was built around this card is pretty freakin' genius. In a nutshell, a bunch of eldrazi spawn tokens paired with Butcher of Malakir and Sarkhan the Mad. I might have thrown in a couple moreReliquary Towers to maximize hand size, but that's just splitting peas.

I think fecundity is almost always a better choice than this enchantment... it's a shame it is so expensive, the effect is cool

The flavor text on this card made me laugh hard.
It seems like it could be a pretty fun card. There are a good number of sac-decks out there, and the eldrazi spawn are a prime example. This is pretty much just what everyone else has already said though.

I like the art and love the flavour text, but I don't trust cards that make you skip your draw step if their alternate draw condition is too fragile. And this is too fragile for a 6CMC, 3 colour card for my liking.

Shut up guys. You've obviously never seen one or two of these draw someone's whole deck off of a couple Nest Invaders, Kozilek's Predators, and an Awakening Zone. Be very afraid of Brood Birthing. The triggers stack, so 4 of these gets insane. This would be an easy 4/5 if it were printed in RotE -- You know, the slow control limited format where everyone and their grandma has a few extra spawns to throw around? Whatever. At least they're only $0.05, so the shrewd budget player can easily build an explosive combo Jund deck.

Why would anyone use this overcosted crap? Yes, you could play stuff like Goblin Bombardment... but why? Enduring Renewal is infinitely better (no pun intended).

You could run stuff like Bloodghast/Blossom with Diamond Valley and/or Recurring Nightmare with this card out to draw cards, but that's so not worth it. When I read half of these ridiculously janky ideas ppl have, you have to ensure:
1) You're drawing at least 3+ cards a turn to make it more worthwhile than simply running Phyrexian Arena, Bob, etc.
2) It's practical, cheap and matches the color scheme
3) Like the Goblin Bombardment idea, there's not a more pragmatic alternative that already works better

Unfortunately this card is so ridiculously overcosted that if you don't simply win the turn it comes into play, it's just not worth it and the risk that comes with it >.>

Unless you can kill your own enchantment later, this is going to make it so you will never draw another card this rest of the game should you run out of creatures. That, coupled with the 6cmc and the fact that it isn't even very good at what it tries to do, I can rationally give this a 0.5/5

Too expensive and not useful enough. You rip apart your board to draw a few cards ? The card is flawed in its essence. It will never make into any of my decks. 1.5
Samfu
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
I guess it's useful against a mill deck, since you technically don't lose until you try and draw and have no cards left to draw.
Raexs
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
It seems it would be pretty easy to get screwed over after playing this. A wrath effect at an inopportune time could lose you the game. Clearly, if you choose to run this in your deck, you had better build the rest of the deck around it.
But that art is amazing. And the flavor text is amusing too.

This is fun as Donate fodder.

Here, dear opponent, your very own dragon to appease! Sorry I didn't pack any sacrifice effects with it. Hope you're satisfied with the cards you've already drawn, 'cause...
