Even the bull realizes how bad this is and is crying at the R&D team for being put on such an abomination. In Limited, it's a subpar combo trick, and Vines of Vastwood is dying of laughter at how pathetic this thing is. It can't grant toughness or first strike, which screws over the whole point of doing combat tricks in the first place; I block with a creature that kinda sorta can't survive, then pull my combat trick so my guy lives while your guy dies.

Also, the flavor text can be quoted from someone who was watching the R&D team make this, just saying.

This card is disgusting crap. It's worse than Shock. This is in the same block as Burst Lightning. Oh, you can play it on a guy with double strike? Like who? Who has double strike in Zendikar limited? This is just jank. It couldn't at least be +3/+0?

Traditionally, +X/+0 effects are costed lower than their burn spell counterparts. Fists of the Anvil hits harder than Incinerate. Balduvian Rage has a cantrip where Blaze doesn't. This one, however, is actually costed higher. Come on, wtf?

Bull Rush is bull obviously.

Even the flavor text is unoriginal and not what a red one ought to be.
Gosh, we're having Lightning Bolt, an improved version of Shock, but get red creature buffs as crappy as this?

Kindled Fury can at least serve as a minor combat trick, but this is just an awful joke version of Fever Charm and Brute Force.
If it at least provided haste like Reckless Charge, gave trampe or anything, it wouldn't be that bad.

It almost looks like Wizards forgot to add a planned Landfall replacement effect for this card, like it was done with the comparable green counterpart from this set, Groundswell.
Or maybe they just once again felt like trolling with a terribad common slot à la Chimney Imp.

So in order to balance the power creep it is necessary to print cards that will never see play in any format? This card is so bad it makes me want to never buy packs again.

Why in the name of all that is holy couldn't they have reprinted Brute Force?
or some sort of +4/+0 eot?
or something actually worth playing?

Hilariously bad.
and not in the bad-but-still-good-in-limited-even-though-its-strictly-worse-than-Scathe Zombies, Mindless Null way.
Just bad.

Ok, i guess you want to tell us red is NOT the color of instant creature pump, don't you Wizards?

Au revoir Brute Force :'(

Really seems like they missed a landfall ability on this, considering there are other instants with landfall for other colours. But then put it on Searing Blaze instead.

There are times when I can justify the existence of a card despite its flaws. I can't do that here. This is seriously one of the worst cards ever printed.

This? Worse than Rakalite? I really think not...

This is just extremely sub-optimal. At least it does something generally useful.

But guys, "it could be good in limited", right? Isn't that the excuse everyone makes now to rationalize a system where about 75% of the cards you open in any pack go straight in the trashcan? Pretty sweet deal for Wizards - promote a format that requires players to constantly buy new packs, make so many of those cards useless that they'll never be able to build a constructed deck with them, AND have a convenient excuse for putting zero thought and time into a portion of the commons in every set. Bravo, Wizards, bravo.

This is so terrible, I would rather splash blue for a single Armored Cancrix. And, no, I'm not talking about Limited, I'm talking about Standard!

It's half of a fists of the anvil. The heck do you people want? Kiln Fiend seems like a good target for this. +5/+0 for R.

It's not as bad as you all seem to think, in fact it's very middle-of-the-road as red pump spells go. Brute Force is not a fair comparison, as it is a color shifted card, Fists of the Anvil is a more apt comparison. Red simply doesn't get super efficient pumping, that's green's shtick.

I'm going to be original in why I hate this card and comment on the flavour text.

I'm aware that 'loose the chains' makes sense. However, to my naturally cynical brain, it looks too much like a common mispelling of lose.

That and the card seems designed to be utterly useless- +4/+0 would not be too powerful by any means.

Should have been either +4/+0 or +2/+0 & First strike instead. That wouldn't have been a format-breaking common...

GUYS,
This is not worse than Aven Trooper or Razor Boomerang!
Come on, I know that Shock and Burst Lightning are usually better, but at least you could pump up a Plague Stinger and deal 2 more poison with this.

This is by no means good, but doesn't deserve a 0.745...
And besides, red was never known for it's pump spells.

Teetering Peaks; preserving card advantage since the previous set in the block.

What you could do with this card is almost a subset of what you can do with Shock.

Deal 2 extra damage to the player? Shock does it, without requiring one of your creatures getting through.

Letting your 1/1 trade with their 3/3? Shock does it too. And this can't even off a 2/2 like Shock does!

The only niche this has over Shock is double-strikers / infect. I guess if you're really desperate for a pump spell in your mono-red infect deck... even blue has a better pump spell (Distortion Strike).

the card art is very poor, given its also a pretty weak boost, I'd give it a 2.5/5
then again If ever I feel like running a minataur deck, I'll consider this card, till then its Brute Force all the way.

one of the poorer +x/+x instants that red has a limited selection of.

I'd like to have this card as trample (more akin to what a bull may do to somone if let loose upon them)
then bury at the end of turn.

+3? +4? It is what it is.
For infect, this is more akin to a proliferate, by adding extra poison.

How this card has managed to hover just above 1/5 is beyond me. Brute Force is +3/+3 for Red. This is +2/+0 for Red. The only thing I would ever use this card for is as a coaster... and even then I'm probably better off spilling my drink all over my table than letting this card touch it.

As a side note, Dynacharge is also pretty bad but still does this much better by combining it with Trumpet Blast. Talk about adding insult to injury.

This is actually a pretty good option, since if your strength score is high enough you can do quite a lot. Sure, it has the downside that you're going to provoke an attack of opportunity, but the chance to immediately kill an opponent by pushing them over the edge of a cliff is difficult to pass up! A good hint, though, is to avoid using this ability on creatures that are larger than you, because they will get a hefty bonus to--

wait.

I seem to have made a mistake.

I'm not quite understanding what you guys are bitching bout here. It isnt the best instant pump, to be sure, but to downrate it just because it isn't your first choice is kind of strange. Granted, I would probably run a color with different and better pump, but for a mono-red agro, I would say that this isn't a bad choice, if nothing much better presents itself. The only card i can think of off the top of my head that is better is Banners Raised

Thing is, it cannot really be compared to cards that are sorceries, or that can only be played as sorceries.
