Not really. Just means you have two cards that make wolves.

This is only even moderately good late game monogreen. Translation: Its not.

Superb limited bomb, if you can last that long. Usually drops ~5 wolves, which is usually enough to win unless they can kill you next turn. If you can pull an overrun, it's basically good game.

It's simply too expensive for constructed, however. Since cheating it in doesn't really do much-- it relies on the number of forests in play, so dropping it for free means nothing-- it's really just not that playable. There's a fun deck to be made with Wren's Run Packmaster, Master of the Wild Hunt, and Fable of Wolf and Owl, but it's certainly too slow to be tournament viable.

This one is good in monogreen with Master of the Wild Hunt, even if you only get a few wolves out of it.

This card destroys friendships worse than Dr. Mario.

Kinda exspensive, but handy if you get it down.

And now, unclejenkins's silly comment will cause me to equate Wolves in Magic with Dr. Mario for all eternity. Thanks for that.

I have a question about a mono green deck. I am relatively new to magic and love the green deck. I was wondering if a mono green deck is competitive in play and if not how about a green/white deck.

great casual card, just pump out the mana.

In a my good green deck I can put out 6 mana by turn 4, turn 2 throw down Khalni Heart Expedition and then turn 3 throw down Harrow, thus activating your expedition, giving you full access to 6 forests by turn 4, drop another forest and you have 7 wolves by turn 4, combine this with Beast Masters Accension and you have 7, 7/7 wolves by turn 5 and at that point it would be game, for the most part.

Use with Khalni Heart Expedition, Harrow, and beastmaster's ascension.

1: Forest
2: Forest + Khalni Heart Expedition
3: Forest + Harrow
4: Forest + Howl of the Night Pack
5: Beastmaster's Ascension ==> Swing for 49 damage

Fun potential in monogreen.

Man Zendikar really beefed up this card. Pwnsaw's right, that's exactly how I play my Ascension deck.

I used two of these, 7 forests, and a beastmaster ascension over 3 turns to deal 115 damage to my brother in one go.

Great card in a mono green deck in a format where WotC is really pushing hard on the creature removal. This card creates several threats that a single Lightning Bolt, Terminate or Doom Blade can't deal with and is the perfect card to follow a Day of Judgment or Planar Cleansing. It's expensive and casting it with non-forest mana acceleration makes it much worse, but when you can get 5+ forests while casting this it becomes a real threat. Combine with Oran-Rief, the Vastwood to give all your wolf tokens +1/+1. Blanchwood Armor, Overrun and Beastmaster Ascension are all great cards to play in a deck that runs lots of forests and this card.

throw in Creakwood Liege and then you'll have yourself a party

They should really rename this card "OMG!"

Expensive, but in the current format with mana flying everywhere for Eldrazi, this guy gives you blockers and a hell of a lot of damage. Combo with Overrun for instant winage.

Late game? Those who say late game don't know green, green has tons of creatures and spells that make you able to get 2 lands out each turn, in a monogreen, you should be able to play this on turn 4 and get 6-8 wolves.

In a mono green this card is especially effective with Recollect. In a green blue Cast Through Time would provide an excellent combo. In a green white, this card before a Nomads' Asembly would be devastating.

Leyline of Vitality + Howl of the Night Pack + 7 Forest = 7 life ??

my bigest problem with this card is that at 7 mana, you need to run acceleration in order to cast it in a reasonable amount of time, and if you use axel then it will become weaker unless you use land axel, which i personally find weak unless you willing to shell out 50 bucks for primal titan.

5/5 run four in my green deck. not late game at all. pops around turn five(If you play green without mana-acceleration, your doing something wrong.) works perfectly Overrun and Gigantomancer

I feel like this card and the flavor of this card would go well into Innistrad, too bad it was not reprinted in Innistrad.

The same deck that likes this, also likes Baru

For fun, compare to Nightmare:
1) Both have only a single colored mana
2) Both have "night" in the name
3) Both care about a specific basic land
