I find this card destructive, especially in combination with the Coiling Oracle. With 8 mana, you can get out four 1/1s, draw 4 cards/put 4 lands into play, and have any creature in your deck in your hand at end of turn. As well, following the logic behind Demigod of Revenge, even if the spell is countered, Momir's ability still triggers.
I wish he either had higher toughness or for the second ability to be, "...look at the top card of you library, if it's a creature card, reveal it and put it into your hand."
Nonetheless, amazing card. He'll be the General of my EDH in progress.

One of the greatest creature's that / have going for them. If you built a deck around multicolored / cards, then he is perfect for getting creature cards(Simic Sky Swallower) in you're hand. A bit high for a 2/2 though. would have been much better but you can't complain about efficiency.

Well for his low body just graft 1 or 2 counters onto him. He is a SIMIC visionary after all.

I like this card a lot, but I cannot deny it costs 5 mana to play and is a 2/2 body.
EDIT: After some play testing, I realize this card is actually very powerful. Why? Because this is a Simic deck material, which means that even it's a 2/2 by default, it could easily become much bigger when you have other graft creatures in play, at the same time benefit from all other abilities. By itself though it's still fragile.
I forgot I put this guy in my Sliver deck. Helped me get my overlord out as soon as I had the mana to play him, and he went and found another sliver for me!

How about with Cascade creatures? Like Bloodbraid Elf or Enlisted Wurm. Just cast one, put the cascade on the stack first so it resolves after momir's, and you get a few free creatures.

overcosted. should cost 1GU max.

overcosted?
one must understand that he was designed to be played in an environment where+1/+1 counters whiz around the table every time a creature hits your side.
with a simic guildmage in play its even worse.
considering that the cost is quite balanced.

He's my commander in my EDH deck. I love his ability to tutor for a creature nearly every time I play one. He's also the guildmaster of my favorite guild, the Simic Combine. 5/5
I'm adding it to my Intet, the Dreamer EDH deck, since: a) it's mostly composed of creatures and lands, so playing a creature each turn shouldn't be much of a problem and b) it supposedly has a lot of sinergy with a lot of cards in it, such as Intet himself (it nets you a lot of value just for casting your commander, plus it combos fantastically with his ability), Djinn of Wishes, Garruk's Horde... Other than those, it also turns any U/G creature into a tutor/draw spell (and there are quite few great U/G creatures: Coiling Oracle, Trigon Predator, Simic Sky Swallower, Nulltread Gargantuan...) AND gives you card advantage against counterspells. Pretty solid, as long as you've got the means to protect him (because, honestly, he's a little fragile for a 5 drop - but worry not, you can always run counterspells or, even better, Mystic Snakes or Plaxmantas). Another thing I'd like to point out is that, whenever you cast a G/U creature spell, you can choose the order in which the effects trigger. So, if you somehow (and by "somehow" I mean Sphinx of Jwar Isle or Cream of the crop) know what's the next card in your library, you can put that card in your hand (if it's a creature) instead of the card you tutor for. This is nice to do in case you'd rather have that card on top of your library for some reason (and I generally do have a reason to want that). Sorry for the long review, but I think Momir Vig is an awesome card and can't really shorten my ideas about him more than this. Also, look at Sages of the Anima for another great G/U combo card, although not as good as this.

Quite possibly my most effective EDH General, and that surprised me a bit. If I get him out with Fable of Wolf and Owl (which is not too hard since the latter tends to be a low-priority target... at first), things start getting out of control *very* quickly.
I'll cast something like Slippery Bogle, Vig fetches a Murkfiend Liege, I cast the Liege and Vig fetches a Mystic Snake. After countering a spell with Snake, I have 3 3/3 Wolf Tokens, 3 2/2 Flying Bird Tokens, a 3/3 Hexproof Bogle, a 4/4 Snake, a 4/4 Liege, and a 4/4 Momir Vig. And I *probably* fetched a Vedalken Mastermind to further abuse Mystic Snake.
This may sound far-fetched, but it's happened before. Momir Vig is *not* to be underestimated!

This guy, coupled with Animar - Soul of the Elements, and a draw card engine like Soul of the Harvest is a serious problem.
It essentially then reads:
Whenever you cast a green creature spell, pick up your deck and search for a green creature spell and cast it to search for another green creature spell and cast it to search for another green creature spell and cast it to search for another green creature spell.....

Momir! Come back to us! Your guild is falling apart. They have this cool new mechanic called Evolve. That is good and all but they are losing the science. They live in holes in the ground! They don't stand for anything! They worship fish! It is all; the lock ness monster in a swimming pool and merfolk not wearing enough clothes!!! We need the beakers, the research notes, the mutations and the cytoplasm back. Make your guild different from the boring semi-ritualistic growth cult fatties!
Edit: I just saw Experiment One in Rosewater's (?) column. Fear not science fans! Simic is back baby!
I used him to tutor up Kraj and then some combo pieces. My friends don't play EDH with me anymore.

Just about any legendary tutor makes a strong general because they can pull off comboes easily (some easier than others), get out answers, or play cards that are bad if not for their synergy with another card (aka bad in most EDH decks).

People just refuse to understand that yes, he's a 2/2 for 5, but he also is the head of the +1/+1-counteriest guild there is.

+1 put a 1/1 green and blue plant mutant with reach into play. -2 put target nonland permanent on top of its owners library. -7 you get an emblem with "creatures you control are simic sky swallowers,"

Momir deserves some love. In a decent simic deck, you'll be tutoring for whatever creature you want once or twice a turn. Your opponent will have to remove him early or get steamrolled. Fragile, but deservedly so. 5/5
