When you're looking to set up a creature combo for elf ball this card gets it for you, plus it can block some weenies and survive as well as give you mana. Yes, it's a 3 drop, but it gives you a lot.

Not bad, but I'd rather see one less mana than one more toughness.

Well worth the 3 CMC considering it provides a mana of any color, tutors an elf, and is +1/+0 larger than Utopia Tree.

The real value of this card is the tutoring ability. The rest is just there to justify the 3 cmc so that this card doesn't get abused with too low a mana cost.

One of the worse harbingers - and some of them don't have abilities. Tutoring for an elf is the only reason to play this card. It really kills it that the tutored elf isn't drawn straight away. The harbinger's abilities are pretty useless unless you need a different colour of mana and it's power/toughness are terrible. If your deck uses a complicated elf combo this is worth playing, otherwise requiring you to draw the tutored elf and a 3cmc make this a terrible card. If it was a 2CMC 0/1 that tapped to add and tutored it might be a great card.

Wow temple, or should I say Spike, you really ask a lot from cards huh.. I bet you only play cards like Ancestral Recall and Mind Twist.

This is a perfectly good card, tap mana plus a tutor for cmc3 is great, but I suppose you'd only play it if it gave you an extra turn as well and only cost 1.

4/5 as it allows my elf deck to fully shine.

She is not that bad. Tutoring may be a little slow and your opponent can react to it somehow (like casting Tome Scour), but I think it worthy addition to any elf deck. You can tutor the elf you need most, possibilities are almost limitless... Immaculate Magistrate, Lys Alana Huntmaster, Ezuri, Renegade Leader, Elvish Archdruid and many, many more. Tapping for mana of any color is also really nice, especially if you're not playing mono-green.

This is a solid, solid card, especially with the black Elves that showed up in the Lorwyn block and the white elves from Shadowmoor. Plus, it can fetch those tribal elf spells that aren't creatures, such as Elvish Promenade and Eyeblight's Ending. One of the best harbingers.

This is cool, but I use Green Sun's Zenith to tutor in my elf deck.

Gives you 4 more chances to draw your game ender elves, while letting you ramp and fix your mana.

This is actually pretty useful even in non-tribal decks that happen to have a few elves.

Outside of my regular Elf deck, I also use it in a deck built around Undying creatures (like Flayer of the Hatebound) and Birthing Pod. I'll use the Harbingers almost as if they were a slightly slower Squadron Hawk to help fix my mana sometimes while giving me some 3 cmc creatures to sacrifice to the Pod if I need them. If not, I can always tutor for an Essence Warden to give me some life gain. Thanks to this card and Skyshroud Elf I can run a pure green mana base if I wanted to in a three color deck.
