Seems really strong, since black kills creatures all the time. Also, try pairing it with creatures that sacrifice themselves, ie. Hellspark Elemental. A 5/5 body for one mana is nothing to sneeze at.

Vampire Aristocrat works wonders with this. For extra fun, sacrifice rotting goblins to the aristocrat!

Gotta respect this enchantment. Only one mana investment for a 5/5 body that shows up at instant speed a couple turns later. Once again, for emphasis, INSTANT SPEED. It's quite easy for someone to forget about your enchantment that's been sitting there unassumingly for a couple of turns, only to have a nice sized zombie pop out of nowhere, eat one of their attackers for lunch, then wreck havoc on the offensive next turn because they weren't ready for it.

That or you can just doom blade a creature for the third counter and do the aforementioned trick even if they aware of it. All and all, a solid and very aggressive black spell.

Or try it with a bloodghast. Bloodghast comes out turn two and basically sticks after that. Add some doom blades and you are looking at some major kickass.

I know this might sound a little unconventional, but I really want to play this with Day of Judgment. Nothing says epic like destroying the opponents creature base and then playing a 5/5 zombie giant afterwards.

This card is a must in any black aggro deck undoubtedly. Not only is it great with your own removal but your opponents are gonna have to think twice whenever they are looking to pop your creatures. I play this before any one drops in my hand for that very reason. Great card.

great tactic if you get board wiped. now you're putting the other guy on edge by having threats in the field and threats that would come if he kills your creatures on the field. great card imo. also good with stuff like hellspark and ball lightning

My giant zombie loves Undead Warchief, Death Baron and Cemetary Reaper

can I remove twice as many and do it twice?

This is amazing. 1 mana for a 5/5 is amazing, even if it doesn't activate immediately. Especially with all the removal in black, Quest for the Gravelord is a cheap and powerful threat.

The major reason this card is so good is, obviously, the fact that it applies to all graveyards. In multi-player magic, this thing can go off in a single turn. In a 2-player match, you're still more than likely to see this within 2-3 turns, particularly if your own deck is setup with either sacrifice or removal attacks.

I had an opponent put out two of these on me the other day, and it created a pretty nasty situation where I was reluctant to attack him due to their presence.

For a 1CC, this is no-brainer, especially since it is a zombie and works with boosts like Death Baron.

Fantastic in many multiplayer variants. 3 creatures alone isn't too tough (especially if you use the sexy Fleshbag Marauder), but in a multiplayer environment it's incredibly easy to get this to pop before your next turn. A fairly reliable 5/5 for 1 is pretty good by anyone's standards. ^^

@sammyk- no beacuse you can't sacrifice it twice now can you?

I really like this. Cheap and only three counters needed for it to pull off. Art is kinda weird, though. Like zombies who have been knitted togeather. lol.

I once had a wierd fight. I had a 1 CMC themed deck, and I was color screwed, having only two Scrublands out but had no white cards in hand while my black cards are usually useless by themselves (I play all 5 colors). My opponent was mana screwed too, unable to play anything. I somehow got all 4 Quests for the Gravelord and played all of them. Then, I played two Death's Shadows and an Unearth on one of them (automaticly destroyed because they get -20/-20). I ended the game the next turn with 4 5/5 Zombies. Pretty wierd game, I never imagined playing a combo like that for this card.

From the picture it seems as though it should summon a zombie mutant instead of giant. I wish it did because Zombie Mutant is a much cooler creature type in my opinion but oh well. I still love this card, I use 4 in my archenemy deck.

I can't help reading this as "Quest for the Gravey Lord"

In a multiplayer game, all you need to do is drop a Fleshbag Marauder to fully load this quest.

Plays quite well with cards like hellspark elemetal and ball lightning. Plays even better with eldrazi spawn.

The coolest of all the quests, it's the name. Quest for a gravelord. Anyone who gets this quest off is officially a Gravelord. I don't even have one, but I still got to fire it off for the 5/5 thanks to Karn Liberated. This card won me the restarted game, and I also got a Massacre Wurm and a Contagion Clasp with Karn. My opponent traded the Wurm with a Vampire Nighthawk on my 4th turn, then I proliferate the last counter on and proceed to beat his face in the next three turns for game. I'm a better Gravelord, and I don't even play black. Deserves a 5 for being a fun card and actually useful at the same time.

love this thing. When playing black, 3 creatures make their way to the graveyard from the battlefield in rather short order. it's a slightly delayed 5/5 zombie for ONE.

Because black needs even more Day of Judgment insurance.

Great card. 5/5 creature for B. Forces your opponent to be wary of how he kills your creatures or sacs his. Rewards you for sacrificing your creatures, which combos well in black. 4.5*

Interesting card that I look forward to trying out sometime. Would be great in B/W with Phyrexian Rebirth and some Bonehoard action.

The artwork is really wild and super creepy. I can only imagine where that conglomeration of creatures is racing off to. Hopefully not my place.

Play with 3 in some combination of Shifting Wall and Phyrexian Marauder for a turn 1 5/5 flying.
