I want this card so bad! He needs to go into my aura/enchantment deck

I like this card. It's flavorful, effective, and can be a nightmare to kill. The artwork is gorgeous, though the name is a bit unusual. I don't know what a shrike is, so an Evershrike is...well...what does it matter? It eats enchantments to revive itself. That's awesome. It's on the pricey side and it's definitely not for every deck, but it's got its uses and makes a welcome addition to any Aura/enchantment deck.

combine with spirit loop, and you have an almost unkillable 4/4 flier with lifelink maybe have a pull from eternity in case he gets removed. oh yes

The secret about this card is it's second ability, the one to return it from the graveyard to play.. You'll have a 7/7 flyer for 3 mana, if combined with Edge of the Divinity ;D

Turn 1: Forest Turn 2: Plains, Wild Mongrel Turn 3: Plains, discard Evershrike, use its second ability with a Rancor. Now you have a 6/4 Flying Trampler. Turn 4: Plains, play Daybreak Coronet and Greater Auramancy. Now it's a 11/9 Vigilence, Trample, Flying, Lifelink, Shroud, and First Strike Creature. Win in the next 2 turns.
Plus, great artwork. :)

Used with spirit link, aspect of mongoose or rancor, this card is just so amazing...auras lose you card advantage but not with these three. Rancor is especially useful...a 6/4 flying trampler for three mana is really something special.

The secret to this card is actually rancor.. you can revive him over and over and over. It comes back into play with rancor even following a wrath of god as a 6/4 flying trampler for only 3 mana. As long as it isn't exiled you can revive it as much as you want. There are several other enchantments which either can be returned from graveyard to enchant a creature entering play, or played from the graveyard. Really needs a deck built around it, or an enchantment deck with celestial ancient.

I'm surprised this never saw serious tournament play, at least when lorwyn was in standard. It's got a decent recurring ability that makes it hard to kill. Yeah, hardcasting it kinda sucks, but like others said, there are ways to get it into your graveyard without hardcasting it (like discarding it via lightning axe or something), and bringing it back afterwards shouldn't be a problem. The other thing is, the problem with auras is that you can get 2-for-1'd, but since players can't respond between the time evershrike returns from the graveyard and when you put an aura on it, it can easily be saved.
I must be missing something that made this card not good enough for tournaments.

I wish it had converted mana cost 6... you don't want to hard cast it anyway. But if it cost just one more, you could combine this with all the dragon auras for ridiculousness.

@faisjdas : You forgot the Onslaught-block Clerics. Edgewalker gives me chills. Starlit Sanctum is magnificent.

From Dust Corona to Necrotic Plague to Eldrazi Con***ion, this guy is aura-tastic! Why don't I see this guy more often?

This card is so amazing. On turn 1 you can discard it with something like Cabal Therapy or even Blackmail ("Hey, check out these two Swamps I'm revealing! Oh, and I'm discarding an Evershrike.") and by turn 2 you can Dark Ritual it back out with any number of awesome one-cost enchantments, most of which people have already named here. You don't even have to be playing the color of the enchantment, he grabs it for colorless converted mana cost! Rancor is a great option even if you aren't playing green, and Edge of the Divinity is another obvious choice. Either one makes this guy a turn-2 flyer with 6-7 power... not too shabby.
I chucked this into the recent Aura Planechase deck, thinking it'd go well in it what with all the auras and stuff. First match with him, he ended up in the graveyard early on - I think to a Bloodhusk Ritualist.
Turn three, I drew into a Rancor. That was pretty much it from then on.
Rancor is good, but if you want something within the colors, you can go for Spirit Loop to keep it in the game. It's then a 4/4 flying lifelink that can return into play from the graveyard for 4 mana.
Edge of the Divinity is another great thing to slap on it as it immediately turns it 7/7. If you also have the aforementioned Spirit Loop, you have a 9/9 flying lifelink.

Fantastic art! This wonderful elemental is the soul of my casual / aura deck. throw a couple on him and beat your opponent's face to death. Good times!
I run one copy in a dredge deck. Dredge Moldervine Cloak and return shrike from from the graveyard for 5 mana at the end of their turn. Attack for 7 in the air on your turn, sacrifice to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord after combat. Unless exiled this is a fairly potent play to make every turn.

This does not interact with bestow creatures. Bestow creatures are "enchantment" and "Creatures" types. They are not "Enchantment-Aura" card types

Not entirely true. If you reanimate Evershrike, you can't attach a bestow creature to it. But if you have an Evershrike out already and cast something for its bestow cost, Evershrike will get the extra +2/+2 from its own ability.

He can be pretty insurmountable with Angelic Destiny. Plus, you get an Elemental Spirit Angel with double flying out of it!

It's cards like this where I wish the EDH Rules Committee would just change the color identity rule to ONLY restrict mana the deck can create instead of that plus restricting the color of cards you can run. Wizards wishes they would because that's the purpose of Hybrid cards in the first place; to be played in any deck with either of the color, not decks that have both.

Revive it with Edge, drop a Daybreak Coronet and Hyena Umbra on it for safety, and go to town.
