I love having Animate Dead in the new card frame. It's impressive to see the rules text properly formatted on a card in that tiny font.

that's rather ridiculous text box, but necessary to explain the rules of it nowadays, I guess

Ah my favorite necromancy spell, now with sexy new art. I would've loved to have Sun Titan in the deck though.

This is the best reanimation spell, hands down, for this reason:
I could honestly see this card getting reprinted into an actual Standard-Legal set thanks to Naturalize, if only the effect could be reworded in a way that is just more concise and readable--
Reanimation Ritual 1B Enchantment
When Reanimation Ritual enters the battlefield, return a creature card in a graveyard to the battlefield under your control with a -1/-1 counter on it. When Reanimation Ritual leaves the battlefield, sacrifice that creature.
Well? Advantage of using the -1/-1 counter would be to reduce exploiting hasty creatures with 1 toughness. Exhibit A: Ball Lightning.

It's like Necromancy, except cheaper, gives it -1/0, and doesn't give you the choice of playing it at instant speed.
This is still better because of it's cost, but Necromancy can be used in strange ways. Also, it may be more effective in EDH because of the lack of a negative ability, as minor as it is.

If I can ever use this version of the card on a Sun Titan, I'd be ecstatic.

That wording wouldn't work. An "enchant creature" spell needs a creature target in order to be cast, which is why this new version starts with "enchant creature card in a graveyard" - it targets a creature in the graveyard. For the same reason, the original version used "enchant dead creature" because it looked for a target in the graveyard; the problem with that being that once the creature leaves the graveyard its no longer dead.

This new art is too close up, not enough of a scene. There's just 'dead guy in your face' with some rocks breaking out from around him. The motion of the rocks makes it look like he's blowing them away, not rising from them (as though this art was originally intended for a loss of life spell). The old art, with the bodies wreathed in eerie flames rising from the ground, was much better.
Still a solid card and a favorite in reanimator, especially for snagging your opponent's utility creatures. It doesn't matter if Seedborn Muse or Magus of the Future has 1 less power, now does it? Especially when you got them for {1}{B} on the second turn after a first turn Ostracize...

@htgtmd: Nope, because it's not a creature enchantment until after it hits the battlefield.

The sacrifice is not a drawback if this enchants an undying or persist creature. Like Flayer of the Hatebound.

The rules text is ***. I'll just take a Reanimate and be done with it.

What the textbox basically says: Enchanted creature is returned to the battlefield. Gets -1/-0.

I hate that text box entirely too much.
Fine card, though. I wish that R&D would explore the interaction between aura and creature more, instead of printing auras that automatically give card disadvantage.
We'll have to see what the future holds.

I find it awesome and ironic that it's a Sun Titan, considering Sun Titan can also reuse and abuse this card as well ^^ It's why I use this and Necromancy in my Karador Commander deck.

I wish this was the picture for Grave Titan instead =/
Give us something similar to this in Journey to Nyx! I love using this with Phenax casually, let me do it in Standard!

Seriously, the text should read:
"Target discarded creature card in your own graveyard goes to battlefield. Attach this card to target creature. If Animated dead is removed from play, discard target creature. If creature dies or goes to graveyard, exile this card.
Enchanted creature gets -1/0"

I really like arts like this that make it feel like those titans actually have a place in Magic lore rather than just being a bunch of random chase mythics.
