I said I wanted his head on a silver PLATTER, not a silver GOLEM!

The primary function is really powerful but a bit too cost intensive for my liking. The second ability is a good measure against milling.

@ zulp: the various artifacts shown in the image are "Pieces of the Legacy." Powerful artifacts sought after and made by Urza. There is an arcana somewhere a year or two ago about this. Hope that helps

The art is confusing for people as most of the things that make up the Legacy artifacts weren't reprinted in newer sets.

this card is hard to play but amazing if you can get it to work, it's basically the ultimate answer to everything. it deals with indestructibility and regenerate and everything, the card doesn't go to the graveyard, and it deals with any permanent.
it's vindicate combined with swords to plowshares. sure its cost is a little demanding but a reusable answer to everything is incredibly useful.
(and I know it doesn't deal with shroud but you know what everything needs to have a limit, its still a great card)

I love how the artwork includes lots of familiar other artifacts :) A great image of this card can be viewed on this carticle: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtgcom/arcana/1372
Regarding the actually quite challenging "woo-berg" cost to remove a permanent, i think the second ability which was intended to prevent it from getting abused by reanimation (e.g. with Goblin Welder or Argivian Restoration) was rather redundant. It's also notably the only artifact which has this replacement effect, which is normally only seen on creatures like Serra Avatar, Darksteel Colossus or Progenitus.

This art is 100 times better than the apocolypse art. Although, to those who haven't actually read the novels, this can seem confusing. But to those who have, the other legacy weapon card shows Weatherlight after it gathered the dormant white mana from the Null Moon, which wasn't actually a part of the legacy. This version shows almost ALL of the pieces of the legacy, which makes loads more sense than the other one...
@Yotika: you're half right, Urza didn't make all of the pieces, he just made karn, everything else was from other planes...(karn, urza's eyes, bones of ramos, thran tome, power matrix, etc.)

Shows some real potential for a five-color artifact deck. Recurring exile effects aren't really things to be scoffed at, I don't think.

the art is just silly. If you didn't know what it was supposed to be, this still only confuses you. the old art was much better.
I really prefer the Apocalypse art; it looks epic. This art is just a bunch of thrown together pieces of oddity. Yes, I understand that's what Urza's Legacy was. But this just looks silly for one of the most end-game cards that exists.
What better use do you have for a Composite Golem/ Nim Deathmantle combo? It's great, because after you EXILE THEIR ENTIRE FIELD you still get to peck them to death with whatever utility creatures you happen to have left.

Ironically, it doesn't look like it'd be all that good in Legacy.

there is no need foor a five coloured artifact deck this card works great in my blue atifact deck you just need to have a few fabricates, Tinkers, or even some Reshaps in ther to help you get Mycosynth Lattice out so you mana can produce any type then to help you get more land wgile you put this all to geather you can have some Solemn Simulacrum in your deck to help slow them down and speed you up a little.

I'd say that what the card actually depicts is more epic than the mechanic. and wuberg exiling is pretty epic.

This Card should have been the Foil Rare for the Phyrexia vs the Coaltion Duel Deck instead of the meager Urza`s Rage
The original art is far superior. I understand what the 10th edition art is trying to represent, and I normally love Terese Nielson's art, but it just looks so stupid compared to the pinnacle of epicness depicted in the original Legacy Weapon art.

Now THAT'S Legendary! Man, this is truly a fair card. If you're able to make 5 different colours, you truly deserve an ability such as this. It's very interesting that Karn is in the art, and Karn Liberated's negative effect is the exact same thing.

The difference between card games and TV shows based on card games:
If MTG followed YuGiOh and tried to do a cartoon show, 10 bucks says this would be called the 'most powerful card in the game'. (Planeswalkers and Legendary Creatures wouldn't be cards, they'd be characters on the show)

So, half of the original cast, including Urza, all died horrific deaths for this. I would have expected something that instantly wins the next ten games and takes away target player's lunch money.
It is a truly great card, but I only wish they didn't hype it up this much in-universe.

@Totema: This cards exile target permanent. This means it completely obliterates ANYTHING. Now take away the arbitrary mana costs that had to be added for gameplay and has absolutely nothing to do with the flavour. All of a sudden, you have this weapon that can send anything to oblivion. Why WOULDN'T that be hyped? That's the greatest weapon there is.

Despite what it's name implies, I'd like to remind everybody that in no way should this ever be used as a weapon in Legacy. You'll be laughed at.

You know, I have a hard time not liking anything that has Urza on it (even if it is just his floating head). 4/5
This weapon can single handed dominate the board when its online. Takes a turn to tap out for it, then start firing. And its modern legal with this printing, 5/5

Karn is in the art because he's a component of the weapon and it's precisely reason why he's -3 ability exiles permanent's

Contrary to prior belief, if you manage to get this out in a legacy game, you're probably going to win. Even if its because you're going to win anyway because you managed to survive turn 1-3 kill combos, as well as ramp into it while dealing with your opponent, not to mention all the other broken things about legacy I'm not mentioning. It's still nice to get out, and it's a fantastic card in every way.

You know, it's kind of interesting, and confusing, that you can have this card, Karn, Silver Golem and Karn Liberated on the battlefield at the same time.
My head-canon for that? Karn is using some very advanced and confusing temporalmanipulation.
