Actually, seeing as this was first released in Fifth Dawn it was probably intended as an easy way to get the Bringers out without hardcasting them for 9 mana.

A decently sized body that can come in handy when you want to cast either Sunburst spells, or one of Conflux's many 5-color spells and effects. All in all, not a bad card, and a good way to get 5-colored mana without running too many multi-lands or the like.

Works well with Kaleidostone if you're trying to pump mana for Progenitus or Door to Nothingness That way you could cast the stone earlier for 2 and draw a card, which makes the draw useful in context since you intend to use it later. When you get the golem out later you have available for 5 mana rather than trying to get 2 golems or pump hybrid mana some other way. Kaleidostone can also contribute to metalcraft if you're using it.
