Great Blue card. Awesome artwork. I like the M10 style merfolk, but I miss Lorywn.

I wish they had reprinted Braingeyser instead of making another card with a slight difference like this one.

A close relative of Braingeyser. Though Braingeyser is a little better because you can mill your opponent.

This can be better than Braingeyser too. If you have Ivory Mask the geyser can't draw you cards, and Braingeyser can be Shunt'd, Mind Spring can't.

Can you twincast this for the amount paid for X?

I really don't see why people would play this over Tidings. You need 7 available mana for this to beat Tidings... Considering only a control deck would really play it 95% of the time, who wants to tap out 7 mana at sorcery speed, leaving himself open?

It's not the only good one, they also reprinted Mesa Enchantress. And anyone who's ever played Vercursion knows the power of an Enchantress. And since they also reprinted Underworld Dreams, it's like a deck idea right there. Too bad they didn't reprint Stroke of Genius; You could really mess with people in Type2. Ah well hough, still works in other formats.

Just to clarify, the person who said isn't Braingeyser the same? No. Braingeyser targets someone, and you can target anyone, so you can draw them up, or, you can force someone to and deck them. One of my decks has an infinite Mana and Life combo, that can all come out on turn 0, and win, on turn 0, without any Power 9. (Fastbond + Crucible of Worlds + Zuran Orb + Island + Sol Ring for extra Mana, boom, infinite life infinite Mana, and with Braingeyser, you deck your opponent before they have taken a turn) anyway it's hard to do because Fastbond is restricted, and getting all that on your opening hand isn't exactly common to say the least.

Also, to clarify for card advantage in M10, Mesa Enchantress is there. Those draw more cards than some people realize.

Also, for the person who asked if you can Twincast it, YES! If you have Fork or Twincast in your hand, you can use either one to double the amount of cards. Back in 1994, we used to use those for Fireballs but these work just as well.

Fantastic card that just screams advantage. Works well with any sort of ramping (currently, Everflowing Chalice is standard and helps out nicely). I've been messing around with a Bant walls/mana ramp Eldrazi deck and the values you can get out of a Mind Spring with two Overgrown Battalions and one or two other walls is staggering. Gets you all the DoJ cancels you need. =)

guh...they couldn't have made this an instant...maybe a mythic to balance it out a bit? it would cry for attention, but as it stands it isn't even sideboard with jace ms around

@Sidek. . . . Well first of all because there is always the chance that you will have a bunch of extra mana and may be able to draw five or six cards. And also, some people might not need four cards, and don't want to discard stuff. Either way though, that card is bad A$$, and waaaay beats out Jace's Ingenuity any day.

Tidings saw play. This was quite on par, so this also saw play.

Strong cards are strong.

@slackwarewolf: You cant do that on your first turn if you start.
Fastbound cost G to play, crucible of worlds 3, Zuran 0 and Sol Ring 1.
If all where to be cast in one turn that would mean 1 forest tapped to play Fastbound, then play another land to cast a Sol Ring, tap that to cast another, use the 3 mana left over to play Crucible of Worlds and just put Zuran on the table.
At this point you have used 7 cards.
If your opponent had the first turn you would have 8 cards at your disposal and thus could have mind spring though.

I really didn't understand why they reprint this instead of Braingeyser. They should at least consider it now, since there is Blue Sun's Zenith which you can use to mill people, is instant (so much more robust agains control), and shuffles itself, so much more valuable for a infinite-mana combo-deck finisher... Moreover Braingeyser is more interactive (something that R&D loves!) and is multiplayer-friendly... What can you ask more?

However good card, but Braingeyser is better. Not strictly better, but better for a healty game.

I'd personally prefer Blue Sun's Zenith and pay an extra {U} for Instant speed and shuffle back into library.

The only reason this was printed in M10 and not Braingeyser is that Braingeyser is on the reserve list. Death to the reserve list!

This will work so well in my Mono Blue Permission deck! Also, better than Blue Sun's Zenith!
