I can't wait to get this card. When I equip it to either my patrol signaler or Silkbind Faerie, it'll only cost me {1} to put a token into play/tap a creature. If I add in Heartstone or Mana Reflection, that's infinite taps/tokens; however, that's no fun to me because then it's practically game over already, I like to keep things fun.

Would be extremely lulzy to play with an Ornithopter. Colorless two-card Birds!

I've played a lot of decks where this is a part of a combo:

Guilder Bairn with this and a Pentad Prism for inf mana to infinitely boost planeswalkers or whatever else you like to kill with.

Puresight Merrow to scry through your deck instantly until the next card is your winning piece.

With a Freed from the Real on a Goblin Medics for infinite lulz.

I can't remember the others, but there's more. This is basically an Earthcraft for one creature, enabling a lot of the same combos but in a less obviously broken way. Good for any untapping creatures.

Grimoire Thief. Nuff said.

This is actually sometimes worse than Springleaf Drum. With the drum, summoning sickness doesn't apply, which is why Ravager Affinity uses the drum rather than this. However, this can be used more effectively to make combos.

So much combo potential here, especially with those Shadowmoor and Eventide cards that have untap abilities, like Gilder Bairn, Leech Bonder, and Silkbind Faerie.

Also very useful in a casual merfolk deck with cards such as stonybrook schoolmaster and fallowsage. Or any creature with a 'when xxx becomes tapped, do something cool' effects. Get the bonus for the tap ability and get a mana to cast another spell.

Don't be fooled - it doesn't speed up your mana curve like a birds of paradise.

Also, a rather lovely picture.

@Kirbster

This is exactly the same as birds of paradise with an ornithopter just with 2 defense. Play a forest, ornithopter, this, then use the one forest for equip... 0/2 birds of paradise called Ornithopter

Except it costs 2 cards and takes one of your turn 2 mana, and its much worse if its killed. Almost the same though

Should've been equip 0. Still cool though.

Equip 0 would be imbalanced, because you could just get 5 or less creatures, tap them all for whatever mana you need along with your lands, then easily cast out 5 colour stuff

This is a cheap mana fixer for 5 colour decks, and its also a 0 mana artifact that can be used as part of combos

Equip to Arcanis the Omnipotent for some good times.

@codealpha:
Why would equipping this to Arcanis the Omnipotent be good? I'd rather draw three cards than get one mana.

I feel bad for asking such a noob question, having played for several years, but if you equip multiple of these to one creature, do all of them activate at once, or just one?

For example, if I had a creature with two Paradise Mantle's on, would the effect then be "Tap this creature to add two mana of any color to your mana pool." Or would it still only tap for one meaning it's wasteful to equip more than one of these on one creature?

If multiple of these are on a creature, it's like it has 'T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool" written on it that many times. Most of the time, multiple instances of the same activated ability are redundant.

@ saprolingsftw: that does not work, you can't tap the creature for two cards...

"Should've been equip 0. Still cool though."

@Salient: I agree. Earthcraft wasn't powerful enough.
Far too expensive (1Green), restricted to green decks and limited to the mana you could draw from your basic lands.
A free artifact that turns all your creatures into Birds of Paradise during your main phase seems far more reasonable.

This card is used in combos, but I would rather run birds of paradise. Why spend 2 cards, (creature + this) to get the same effect?

Then again not every deck runs green.....

Training Grounds, Gilder Bairn, and this. "So Jace comes in with three counters? Well guess what, now he has 12. Time to exile your library."

To be fair, earthcraft didn't require haste. I agree that it'd be too good; but they are quite different when it comes to combos (which is a large reason why the enchantment was so brutal.)

I remember ordering 2 of these a couple of months ago for about 2-3$. Now they're 10$. Damn you Blistercoil Weird! Well, maybe it's not the only suspect, but it sure is a likely one.

@atemu1234: It would have cost you two cards instead of one. You'd still be better off just going for the birds.
