With Paradise Mantle this gives unlimited counter control for a mere 2Blue and 1.

"His pets are a dead giveaway." How punny :P.

Huh. I wonder if "moving" a counter triggers Doubling Season's effect. I think it does. Of course, that doesn't make this quite as useful with Doubling Season as it'd otherwise seem, since you have to play DS after this, and that's irritating. (If you play it before, it just dies.)

EternalLurker: I'm not sure if moving a counter counts as puting it onto battlefield. I think it doesn't.

Five stars for being able to untap for 1 mana (and that you can give his counters to your opponent's creatures).

This + some Paradise Mantles + Gilder Bairn means control of a lot of counters, not to mention that you can also steal counters (including, now, level counters) from your opponent's creatures!

Still, I was depressed to find out that it specifies creatures. Otherwise, you could have a lot of fun manipulating quest counters, stealing loyalty counters, etc.

Add Utopia Vow and watch him go. Excellent for disabling your opponents' Planeswalkers (or, if you get the opportunity, powering your own up!), though anything that needs tokens to function (Mycoloth, for example) is going to be an easy target. I <3 Leech Bonder!

@DarkBladeWraith

That's a negative ghostrider, planeswalkers are not creatures.

Simply amazing. Combine him with some old and new cards and he kills.
I team him up with Springleaf Drum, leveling, infect and proliferating abilities.

turn Magosi, the Waterveil into a creature with Vastwood Animist and have lots of fun proliferating eon counters on other creatures and moving them back to magosi with this

As much as I hate to agree with a "OMG DOUBLING SEASON COMBOZ!" guy, he might be right. I'm pretty sure it works with Fate Transfer (another "move counter" effect), but I can't seem to find solid evidence for one side or the other... if someone knows of a judge ruling, let me know.

But DS says "If an effect would place one or more counters on a permanent you control, it places twice that many of those counters on that permanent instead." so even though it isn't generating the counter, it IS placing it. Just like you couldn't move a counter from this guy to Tatterkite, as it can't have counters placed on it. BUT look that again. "permanent you control" So you couldn't use the combo offensively as a pseudo-proliferate to add two -1/-1 counters on enemy creatures, only one. You could, however, move one +1/+1 counter FROM and enemy creature to place 2 one your own. That is, if this combo is legal.

Theym and OmegaSeries, and anyone else thinking of using this with Doubling Season: Remember that if the Season is already out when you play Leech Bonder, it will come in with 4 -1/-1 counters and immediately die. So, you have to get your Bonder out before you drop the Doubling Season.

For added hilarity, use its ability to steal Gideon's counters when he turns himself into a creature. Now if only there were a use for loyalty counters on creatures.

Not everyone here agrees with the versatility he really has. I mean common... just how much suffering does a simple back-water Merfolk have to go through to get some respect around here?! He's already got leeches the size of my Blue Heeler milking him dry for Mayael's sake!! ... Wait... this'll clinch it for sure:

Paradise Mantle - - ("Yeah? Shling us a new one Jimbo!"), -OK: Chronozoa - - ("Uh huh, heard that one from ma' sister last week."), -alrighty then: Cryptoplasm - - ("Well, now a buncha inbred Clones showin' up... what'dya know! Kinda like our family reunions.") - - You rdy there mister 'born on a bayou?: Illusionary Wall to Mana Chains - YES to a 1 cost BLUE kill-spell! NOW you can Gilder Bairn your own Loyalty, +1/+1, and the like in peace. Play around with Cumulative Upkeep... OLD mechanic, lots of potential. Oh, and last but not least... Hello Persist and Undying! How's yer Mama?

This is a little problematic with Experiment Kraj. Yes, it's awesome if you can get his ability on Kraj (especially if Kraj also has a mana ability like Argothian Elder or Bloom Tender), but it takes some doing to get there, since you have to get rid of his -1/-1 counters before you can put a +1/+1 on him.

have you not seen Gidion? Slowly taking away his loyalty counters, or giving him +1/+1/ or -1/-1 seems legit.

Giving him Wither or Infect and a Viridian Longbow is pretty hilarious. He just starts flinging counters EVERYWHERE
