My friend has a Merfolk deck and unless I have some mass removal I get screwed. Sorry for saying a no-no word.

This is a 1/2 Merfolk for 3 that generates tokens each tap! Awesome card. Boggart Ram-Gang has haste and wither, but it can't produce a blocker/attacker every turn - that's persevering power. Everytime I play this guy I'm reminded of how good he is.

This + Intruder Alarm + Anything that allows Stonybrook to be tapped like Drowner of Secrets = infinite tokens and infinite use of the ability.

If i get control of the schoolmaster itself, who are going to control the merfolk token?

Sounds like it should be the job title of a dean at SUNY Stony Brook.

A pun on the fact that the name of a group of fish is "school."
For anyone confused: If you gain control of an opponent's (SUNY Stony Brook) Schoolmaster, you don't gain control of the Merfolk tokens.

They aren't exactly cards that allow for colour-splashing, but... the Schoolmaster will work pretty darn well with Patron Wizard or Azami, Lady of Scrolls.

Probably one of my favorite cards, I have an interesting combo/prison deck which runs this guy, opposition, Azami, and a few other things that let me shut down the board.
A quick question though; why do I get the tokens if somebody else attacks with it?
