Infinite combo with Sharuum and several other parts...

Golemn Foundry for infinite tokens, Extractor Demon for Infinite Mill, Disciple of the Vault for infinite life loss, Where Ancients Tread for infinite damage, and Soul Warden or Attendant for Infinite Life...

Phyrexian metamorph replaces this and makes it obsolete. Why copy an artifact for 4 when you can copy an artifact OR creature for 3Blue or 3 + 2 life? getting it out a turn earlier could count for a lot, and the fact it is a superior clone version of this card just pushes it to be as superior as you could get without being strictly so.

Where'd you get the 4? This costs 3.

Why would a clone Planeswalker be any good? The point of planeswalkers is that they're so powerful. Having another card to copy would just be a waste of a slot.

In my wacky Metalworker/Voltaic Key/Thran Dynamo Deck, this sculpts my Darksteel Colossus or Steel Hellkite hilariously often.

Truly awesome card.
I like to use it to copy my mirrorworks and blinkmoth urns, so I can recur (in my round about way) infinite myr retrievers via skeleton shards, and hence lots of everything.
Or stick it on a prototype portal.
Yay for artefact decks!

@jsttu, not completely replaced, as it is a blue spell and can be counted via pyroblast, red elemental blast etc.

And occasionally 2 life is the game.
But that's really circumstantial, so metamorph is generally better.
Really, I'd just run a few of each (and one of each in EDH).

"Wow. That was an incredibly complex and exhaustive way to get your Blightsteel Colossus onto the field so early. I mean, the Proteus Staff, the Krenko's Command. That really was an impressive turn! Anyway, I'll just tap for 3 and..."

While I am currently running this in my artifact-laden monoBlue EDH deck, I came to the realization today that this makes a good card for potentially any and every EDH deck. It is colorless, of course, so it can go into any commander's deck, and even if your deck specifically doesn not have any powerful artifact worthy or writing home about, the format is lousy with powerful artifacts to copy. Yes, it does get around shroud/hexproof. So for 3CMC, why shouldn't every deck have access to the most powerful artifact on the field at the time. I will be sure to add this to all my decks. 3.5/5 stars (only because by itself it does nothing)
