Card of the Day - Thursday, January 19, 2006
Copy EnchantmentRavnica rare. A lot of debate went into naming this card. Early on, many of Magic's card names were more reminiscent of a Dungeons and Dragons feel. Over time, Magic has developed its own stylistic feel. The issue was that it clearly runs parallel to Alpha's Copy Artifact, but some felt that "Copy Enchantment" didn't fit as well in Magic's modern naming style (there's not really any flavor at all in that name, just a functional de***ion). It went back and forth, but in the end nostalgia won out and the card was named in homage of its Alpha brother.

Dingo, actually it can, since Copy Enchantment doesn't target at all.

I'm genuinely surprised it took them this long to do an enchantment version of Copy Artifact.
@Mode because Copy Artifact is very undercosted. 2 for a copy of any artifact is very abusable.

Enchanted Evening + Yavimaya Enchantress on the battlefield, then copy Yavimaya Enchantress with Copy Enchantment, there' s 2 Gigantic Druids in play...

Good way to make a Paradox Haze deck that much more abusable.

This allows you to have 8 Thought Reflections out O_O For every one card you would draw you draw 256.

fun vs. debtor's knell, or followed footsteps. Also fun with megrim or last laugh. It's just so versatile.

why and not like the oldschool Artifact counterpart? i'd have prefered to keep this consistancy... :(
Edit (since 2/22/2009): @HairlessThoctar: Yeah i know, that's also what i'd have liked to do with that. It's not too amazing in eternal formats like that, which are also about using halfway broken cards :P
I'm relatively new to this game and don't know anything pre-Zendikar by heart. I'm in the middle of constructing a deck and I was looking for a card that copies enchantments and all I had to my knowledge was Clone, Phantasmal Image, and Phyrexian Metamorph. I search this website with a key word "copy enchantment" and this popped up. I laughed because it was so convenient.

Guess whos copying paralel lives in there Riku deck ?
I think the name on its own is distracting UNTIL you consider this card is from Ravnica and hence looks fine alongside the more science-flavoured spells, and can seem refreshingly practical.
So versatile as you'd expect. It can come out as a Seal Of Doom and then BAM! Two creatures dead. It can become your second Heartless Summoning to let Ulamog's Crusher come out 4 turns early. It can be your fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth Oblivion Ring to make your enchantment deck removal-tastic.
If one enchantment was good, often having two means a lot of game-winning potential!
I've copied Eldrazi Con***ion to bring on the beats, Oblivion Ring onto Oblivion Ring, Greater Auramancy to annoy everyone, Fervor to drop a surprise Bruna attack and even Necropotence to - you know - win the game.
Everyone expects Clone and such effets but no one expects the spanish inq... I mean... Copy Enchantment... 5/5 for fun

Too bad the legend rule has changed. Otherwise, this card would now be able to kill GODS!

I feel this card has become much stronger over the years. It's pretty awesome in EDH, since it lets you double up on Pillow Fort effects such as Propaganda,Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety. If your opponent has one such effect, it lets you take theirs, as well! With gods being a thing with Theros, this card is even better.

After reading this flavor text, I'm now making a fresh back up of my hard-drive.
