This seems like one of the better rares in the set. A 3 mana 4/2 with Flash is solid, and being able to double as a permanent trick makes me think this might see playing in standard at some point.

P1:"I attack with my Sedge Scorpion leaving five mana untapped"
It is so strange to me to see such high power, low toughness creatures in green. There certainly are a fair number of them, but most of them due to their mana costs appear as fatties with their butts shrunken rather than cheap things with razor teeth.
Honestly, taking another look at it, there's always been Deadly Insect, Yavimaya Ants, etc. Just funny is all, given how they emphasized shifting high power low toughness away from black, because it was making it too similar to red.

probably the only bestow card going to see constructed play

This kind of reminds me of Blade Splicer, in that apparently the way to make cool mechanics constructed playable is to have them at rare.

One of the best priced bestow cards. Only for its Flash though. Most of them are crap.

So far the best bestow card. It's a nice combat trick that becomes a decent body if things go awry.

@Dalucaray: If they just fed a dude to your one drop deathtouch I think you still came out of that ahead.

Heheh, I'm amused by the combination of the card name, ready-to-rumble posture of the satyr and the two booze kegs at his feet.
The card itself also feels it could make it into constructed, which is nice.

How good is this in a deck running Breeding Pool? Very good I say.

To me it really feels like a lovechild of the two Wolfir cards from Avacyn Restored: Wolfir Avenger and Wolfir Silverheart in that it's a flash creature that can alternatively give what may as well be seen as +4/+4 for across "two creatures" since when the creature this enchants dies, it becomes a 4 power creature (or this could be seen as "similar to the Avenger's regenerate ability")-- unfortunately it can't provide as good of a surprise defense but considering it's like both cards into one, I would say it's still very powerful

Well this is an awesome card. But I have to wonder...
If I cast it for its Bestow cost, then is it still a creature while it's enchanting another creature? Could Doom Blade destroy it while it's Bestowing its abilities? What if I cast Black Sun's Zenith with x at 2... would that kill this guy, even while he's an Aura?
And probably biggest of all... while he's an Aura, enchanting a creature... could I still swing with him?
Perhaps the answer's obvious and has been staring me in the face for days but I'm still curious.

I hope I get one at pre-release just so I can flash it in and say "HERE COMES THE BOON!"
4/2 flash for 3 is pretty sweet already, the added versatility that bestow gives this puts it over the top. Almost certainly the best bestow card in the set (at least for constructed). It's not flashy (not counting the sparkles), but it certainly does work.

Compare with Wolfir Avenger, which saw a tiny bit of play. I think Bestow makes this slightly better though.

This card is a strong boon that I intend to bestow upon an unblocked Fabled Hero.
Boon Satyr is arguably the strongest card in Theros showcasing the Bestow mechanic, the only other challenger being Nighthowler. The flexibility granted by the low casting cost, the manageable Bestow cost, and the surprise factor of Flash gives this card enormous potential, depending on the metagame. And remember that, in general, four power for three mana is a fairly credible threat.
@Xpodmaniac: According to Rule 303.4d, "an Aura that's also creature can't enchant anything." When you Bestow a creature, it loses its creature card type until it's not enchanting anything. (Otherwise, Bestow wouldn't work at all.) Also, it loses its Satyr creature type as long as it's an Aura, because only creatures and tribals can have creature types (Rule 205.1a).
The reminder text has two clues to help you answer your question: 1) the text lacks "in addition to its other types," the phrase that indicates that existing types are not overwritten, and 2) the clause, "it becomes a creature again" wouldn't make sense if it were already a creature.
So no, neither Doom Blade nor BSZ for 2 will kill it when it it's an Aura. You'd need two creature-removal spells or one enchantment-removal spell.
One of my favorite things about this card is the art. He looks like he's carefully balancing before a fight in a big, wide stance as if surfing on the back of another creature, a perfect image for bestow. Also he seems to be cross-eyed, like he's dazed that you just flashed him in. The enchantment bling on all of these bestow cards that spills into the art looks here like its a bit more integrated than in the others, particularly the three dots at the satyr's eye level. It looks like he's staring at them (and is he cross-eyed?), and, like someone who's just walked into a giant swarm of gnats, he's drawn swords and is ready to fight. And those little bitty satyr calves? He looks like one of the guys at the gym who only does bench presses, yeah, that dude would be a 4/2 creature, too. Nicely done.

Compare with Feral Invocation (the guy in that is even using the same swords, from the looks of it). Both flash enchantments but, for two mana more, this sticks around after your creature dies. I like it.

That cape...
"What's the 'S' stand for?" "It's...uh...Satyr. Initially I was going to go with 'Boon Satyr,' but then I would have been walking around with a big 'BS,' and you understand why I couldn't go with that."

One minute your Setessan Oathsworn is a puny 1/1, the next BAM, BOON SATYR and he's 7/5.

This guy rides a lot of Stormbreath Dragons. Generally he's a safer investment than monstrosity.
