Now THAT'S cool. Very fair cost for those stats, plus flash, PLUS regeneration? This is like the turducken of creatures!

Seems like late game he's an amazing defender. Just find a way to slap flying on him.

FANTASTIC addition to werewolf decks!

You can cast 2 human werewolves for the 2 turns.
Dont cast anything on the 3rd, they transform, then cast this on the opponents turn. :>

Ridiculous in limited. I opened two at the prerelease and they were absolute superstars. Flashing it in to kill an attacker then attacking with it the turn after just feels so smooth and natural. The only issue is that the 3/3 body gets obsolete a bit quickly with all the soulbound stuff around, but he can still shut down an attacker all day thanks to regen. Love this card to death.

Anyone else thing he looks kind of funny? To me he looks less like he's howling and much more like he's looking up saying "Huh" like he just saw a Ghoultree with the Wings of Velis Vel fly over his head.

Not actually bad, but retarded just for the creature type

Incredible card. Very aggressively costed for the flash. The regen is a little expensive, but slamming out this big of a guy early game for surprise blocking is always welcome.

Surprise!

Eats attackers, and chumps like a champ.

Good, but I wish we had gotten more Werewolves instead of this "Wolfir" nonsense.

I actually love the transition from Werewolf to Wolfir, personally. Very flavorful, nice to see the wolves being the good guys for once. Only bad thing about them is there's only freaking two of them.

As for the Avenger himself, 3/3 for 3 is nice, flash is nice, and regenerate is nice. All in all, a nice card.

Remember back in Tempest when Trained Armodon was considered good?

YES! Replacing Elephant Ambush in the decks that I used it because it costs less.

Yell this when you have 3 or more of these out, plus Wolfir Silverheart. lol

As a card reviewer said in their review of this card / set"

"Wolfir Avenger gives a new meaning to what three untapped lands means."

Very nice card and most likely a staple in green decks for years to come.

I wish it was red and had haste instead of regen... What can I say? I like cards with haste and flash.

Good card and it looks like it'll see a lot of play in block.

@ FeralSymphony: If you don't know why we have the "Wolfir", it's because supposedly Avacyn turned the Werewolves into Wolfir when she came out of the Helvault.

@Gum_Mage He is not a werewolf, he is a wolf warrior. That is is sort of a bid deal triballybecause it is left out of many of the cool cards that come with werewolf tribal. Though, some (like me) want wolf tribal against all logic and reason so, this, I am main-decking. Hey, look on the bright side, wolf tribal tribal gets to keep Moonmist and Mayor of Avabruck.

Now to the card itself.
Efficient? Check
Aggressive? Check
Value? Check
Flavor? Check

Whether you're flashing it in on your opponent's turn, cascading into it, or hardcasting it, this card is VALUE. Just, a great guy to have on the field. I mean seriously, Regenerate 1Green on a flashable 3 mana guy? Imagine flashing this guy in with Wolfir Silverheart on the field, can you say BLOWOUT? While he may not combo the greatest, he does what he needs to do and he does it for low mana. No complaints here. I mean imagine flashing this guy in with Soul of the Harvest in play and drawing a Moonmist, then blowing the guy out on his own freaking turn. So epic.

3/3 for three is meh. Flash does help some but it takes five mana to stop it from dying as a chump blocker the turn it comes out.

Replace half the cards in the set with this card, and also make it able to appear in every rarity.

Like, literally, you open up a booster pack and about 7 of the cards in there are Wolfir Avengers.

Nobody would care. We would laugh. We'd make a house rule that you can run any number of this creature in your deck, and if you get 6 or more of them onto the battlefield under your control at the same time you get to yell "Avengers Assemble!" and instantly win the game.

Unfortunately this card isn't nearly common enough to make up for all the crappy cards in this set.

Edit @Lifegainwithbite:
>Implying that using cards like Griselbrand requires any skill beyond "get it into play quickly" and "pay some life" and that I'm so unskilled I can't tell it's a good card.
Hilarious. Avacyn Restored has bomb rares like any other set (they sell well, after all)...what makes it horrible is the terrible Limited environment (not enough removal, so the games are often just "who lands the r/w human godhand or bomby creature first"), and so many commons like Grounded that are completely useless (or commons that are good but not worth the effort to try in Limited, like Battle Hymn) to the extent that you literally have to decide on your colors immediately in draft and fight to get enough playable cards/creatures so that you can actually play the game. I'm used to having to play a subpar creature or two to fill a curve or an overcosted removal spell, certainly, but this set...wow. Oh and on the Limited note, black's unplayable. Literally. Unless you're the only 1 out of the 8 people drafting who decided to move into the color, so that you can safely get the few good cards like Barter in Blood. It's no Homelands, but still. I really expect better from Wizards.

@Silver_Legion: What are you on about? Avacyn Restored had some of the most powerful and flavourful cards ever. Griselbrand? Wolfir Silverheart? Silverblade Paladin? What crappy cards are you even talking about? Maybe you just don't understand how to use them. I'm pretty sure all the magic players with brains wouldn't want 10 of these in every booster even if idiots like you would.

EDIT: @Sliver_Legion: Not everyone plays limited. Avacyn Restored had some great constructed options. You could have specified and said you were talking about limited only. And all sets have dead cards - not all cards can be good. See Leyline Phantom or Debtor's Pulpit from Gatecrash. That doesnt mean every booster should have ten of one card just because you and your friends happen to like it and want boosters to be based around limited only. Also this card is very powerful and it doesn't take a ridiculous amount of skill to use this card either. It's about building your deck to get the most out of cards like this.

Not that this isn't a great card. 4/5.

Elephant ambush?? Dude, call of the herd

@patronofthesound

You're kind of missing the point of Elephant Ambush. Instant speed is extremely relevant. Both Call of the Herd and Elephant Ambush are playable, but for very different reasons. You cast Ambush in response to an attack to kill one of your opponent's creatures with a surprise block (and you can do the same with Avenger) and hopefully survive with a 3/3. You can't do that with Call of the Herd, though it makes up for it by being much more on-curve with its costs. Clearly Kiseki's deck values the potential removal more than the ability to get a second 3/3 up on turn four (and honestly, I think most green decks would - you'll have other four drops).

In the most mana accelerated archtype, that Regeneration cost looks pretty low to me.
I give it a 4/5. Definitely playable and will include in my newest deck.

Solid little bigger, will most likely take an aggro creature out and then have the regenerate ability to deter bigger things.

I think that there aren't very many Wolfir so there can be more wolfir in the next Innistrad block(and there will probably be another Innistrad block).
