Potentially a one-sided Evacuation. Can be handy in turbofog decks. Be careful facing Azorius or other ETB stuff though!

I think it's worse for Gruul than for Simic. In Simic, you could hold your utility evolve creatures back, and this would allow you to play the attacking creatures a second time, allowing for more evolve shenanigans. In Gruul, you will not only be attacking with pretty much all your creatures, but you might have Bloodrush'd them as well, which would be an extra loss. Of course, it's still a major pain for both, so keep an eye on your opponent's mana before you attack.
Rakdos's Return after using this for profit. Bonus points if your opponent played haste creatures before combat to prevent them from saving a creature.

Remove enemy attackers means they won't get blockers next turn for your assault.

Simic and gruul are looking a little powerful, good thing Dimir can use this. And then, counter spells.

This card will be crucial in sealed or draft to slow down Boros's early game tempo.
It can also save you from an alphastrike or if your opponent activates Boros Charm's second or third options in the middle of what might otherwise have been a favorable creature exchange.

Everyone wants to talk Simic evolve and Boros battalion. Don't forget Golgari scavange counters too. Bounce enough cards with this and they'll have to discard, meaning some of those ETB cards won't be coming back. Even if they do, you at least know what's coming now and can prep for it. But if you know what's coming and are playing , this is the perfect setup to counter anything you don't want to see again.
And @cyberium, the only potential blockers this will bounce are the vigilant ones. Everything else is tapped.

This is among Magic's most satisfying cards to play correctly.
Nothing beats your opponent's bewildered facial expressions and incoherent exasperated stammering when the alpha strike that was supposed to kill you results in his or her entire army getting bounced.
Bonus objectives: 1) Use against an army of tokens. 2) Use against an army supported by +1/+1 counters or auras. 3) Bounce so many creatures that opponent has to discard at end of turn.
This card is pure beauty.

Unfortunately, by the time I got this off, my opponent was slow-rolling Knight Watch and was able to replay both of his dudes, so I got little value out of this. Then again, it was round 4 of the prerelease, and we were both undefeated up until that point, so he was no slouch, and had a nuts deck.

@the_trendkill: No they have more land out. It's not like they go back to casting one creature a turn. They can cast two or three. The main thing is unless those creatures have haste, it will still be a major setback and buy you some time. Especially if they were tokens or had counters on them. Plus it leaves your creatures open to attack. But it is nothing like Time Walk or getting an extra turn.

Gorgeous, game-winning card. Every game I've played this card, it was the game-changer. Will be interesting to see how much play it gets in standard.

I'm shocked that people are saying this hoses Gruul and Simic, but nobody's mentioned how badly it rapes Boros. Battalion requires three or more attackers, and Boros played correctly is highly aggressive. If you bounce an entire Battalion it raises the odds of that player having to discard at EoT, as well as setting their aggro deck back two full turns (assuming no Fervor-like effects are in play). Since you're probably running control elements while playing this, that could easily give you enough time to lock the game up.
Yeah, in general this card f*cks aggro up and it deserves a higher rating. One well-timed Aetherize can signal defeat almost entirely on its own.

This is such a beautiful card. I run Evacuation, Wash Out, Cyclonic Rift, and Devastation Tide (among other spot bouncers like Into the Roil). Each of these cards does different things, but Aetherize does things the others don't. It's playable far earlier than Cyclonic Rift's overload cost (4 vs 7). It ignores colors. It's one-sided, but potentially works on your own creatures. It's a versatile card. It doesn't replace any of the others, but it has a spot. It can certainly buy you a number of turns. When you're low on life and your opponent is dropping elves, tapping out mana to pump them all up before swinging, and you bounce them all back, you've just bought yourself valuable time. Any of the other cards may not have been playable that early.

I quite often carry Evacuate in my more creature-vulnerable blue decks to avoid being swamped, with the understanding that it'll set me back a little bit if I have to use it. This card clears up that problem, AND even has a lower casting cost.
Very useful. Not a staple, but for the right blue deck this is a godsend.

"i got a question its my turn i play mark of mutiny take opponents 4/4 creature he becomes a 5/5 creature i attack with him and a 2/2 creature of mine then play devour flesh on his stolen creature then he plays Ætherize in response what happens ?? "
@ daniel92380: First of all, you can't play Devour Flesh on a creature. You cast it on a player, and it's their choice what creature to sacrifice. They don't have to choose which creature to sacrifice until the spell resolves.
But the answer to your question is, it depends. If you cast Devour Flesh during your second main phase, then their Ætherize would do nothing, because there are no attacking creatures outside the combat phase. See the rulings on Ætherize. In that case, when you cast Devour Flesh you'd get to choose which of your creatures to sacrifice, and you'd probably choose to sacrifice the creature you had borrowed with Mark of Mutiny. If you did, it would be sacrificed and you'd gain 5 life. Simple.
On the other hand, if you had made the mistake of casting Devour Flesh during your end of combat step, your creatures would still be attacking, so Aetherize would return them to their owner's hand. That's you for the 2/2 and your opponent for the 5/5 (which would only be 4/4 when he recast it, of course). Then, if you controlled any more creatures that hadn't attacked, you'd have to sacrifice one of them. If you didn't control any more creatures, Devour Flesh would just do nothing.

This card strikes fear in your opponent every single time they know you have it. I personally like bluffing about having it just to make them extra wary about sending too many attackers. For extra EDH fun, make sure you aetherize someone's huge army when they're sending it all at someone else! They never see it coming!

This thing is nucking futs in EDH, especially if you're using it with Bident of Thassa and any way to get it out of the graveyard. There's nothing more satisfying than ruining an alpha strike from a Relentless Rats EDH.

How is this card not rated higher? It's so powerful and reliable. Definitely one of the better cards out of GTC. I mean, c'mon! "Take no combat damage and set your opponent back a few turns." For . Only 3.7 stars? Deserves at least 4 IMO.

☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
I agree - definitely needs to be a 3.5 - 4 star. A common that is to return all attacking creatures to their owner's hand. Unlike Evacuation, you can only use it on **ATTACKING** creatures, which I can see as a disadvantage in a number of cases, though more often than not I find myself needing spells like this when creatures are attacking me - in which case I'm glad this exists - and cheaper than Evacuation. I'd definitely run both.
