It's 4 power and toughness spread out across 2 creatures with Vigilance. Sure, 2/2s with Vigilance usually cost {W}{W}, but this gives you them in an easily splashable form. Extra bodies means Anthems have twice the effect, and they can block twice as many things.

It's at least 3/5, though probably not 3.5/5.

I think it's more that the art is depicting Barbu Rooftop, and Yaszen's reacting to the event portrayed. It makes most sense if you imagine Yaszen giving "respectfully" harsh emphasis.
