Spirits seem to be kicking it up a notch.

I approve.

Claustrophobia for one more mana on a 3/3 flying body?

Commander Review: not that great. As a 3/3 it will die quite quickly more often than not, and then the tap effect will be over as well. Not horrible though.

So few comments for one of the coolest cards in Dark Ascension?

I guess we really didn't need another Fiend Hunter, even though this can bash somebody's face in for the win.

But OH GOD WILL THIS BE A BOMB IN LIMITED!

This is really good for casual IMO. It's not the next Sower of Temptation, but it's a big speed bump on a decent body early on and later it's a must answer or you'll effectively lose your biggest hitter.

Bloodline Keeper, you won't be making tokens for a while. Unless of course you Victim of Night me... please don't...

So no, it isn't a sower of temptation. On the other hand, his body is bigger and that allows him to survive more burn, kill, and fights with other dudes.

Played with at the Prerelease. Won me every single game It managed to hit the table. Not by itself, mind you, but damn near close enough.

Claustrophobia on a big body.

seems good with drogskol captain. Gives it a bonus as well as hexproof making it extremely difficult for them to get their creature back.

This is creature efficiency, and blue no less.

Perhaps someone can answer a question I have about cards like this: it doesn't say anywhere on the card that Dungeon Geists must remain in play continuously for the opponent's creature to remain tapped. So, can a player flicker Dungeon Geists, tap a second creature an opponent controls, and have two creatures tapped by the one Dungeon Geists?

I guess what I'm asking is does the geist's effect continuously check whether it's in play or not, or only during an opponent's untap step?

Nirvana: When a creature is exiled for even a moment, it's considered to not be under ANYONE'S control, so the first lockdown is dispelled. This also applies to Sower of Temptation--if it get blinked, you don't get two creatures, rather you potentially change which one she's enthralling.

Card proper: Hello there, likely core set bait. Can we hope this means the Lorwyn Incarnations will be displacing the Titans, since you could conceivably take Frost Titan's non-combat purposes?

Before PT: Dark Ascension:
Rather meh card, forgettable, maybe a dollar at the most
After PT: Dark Ascension
Whoa this thing is totally great because Finkel used it $4 card

And like Olivia before it, it'll fall quite a ways again(possibly going back to $1) over the next couple weeks.
I can't quite find the proper words to describe us. They definitely need some kind of negative connotation to them.

(Sarris has a Doom Blade in hand.)
SARRIS: Let me remind you, sonny: I am a general. If you are counting on me to let your Dungeon Geists live long enough to demonstrate the difference between them and Fiend Hunter, then you are making a deadly mistake.
TAGGART: Well, let me tell you something, Sarris: It doesn't take a great player to recognize a bad one. You're sweating.
SARRIS: You fool! You fail to realize that, with your Dungeon Geists gone, my Grave Titan will untap during my next untap phase and tear through your life total like tissue paper.
TAGGART: And what you fail to realize is my Dungeon Geists... are dragging Drogskol Captains!

I hate that it's rare - makes me think they didn't see it having any constructed value, and were just trying to keep it from dominating limited. Very good card. At uncommon, it could have been 2/3, or even 1/3 - as it stands, this card is probably exactly as good as Finkel figured. Huge tempo swing - and when you wipe the board, you don't get your creature back.

As though blue need another creature in block.

I had this, cackling counterpart, and some other rares in a draft. First round, I played this, counterparted it twice, and still lost. Guess what got me. Freaking vault of the archangel made it impossible to block anything, and I could never do enough damage back to catch up. Very frustrating.

Its so good, why is it rated under 4? 4 cmc 3/3 flier is standard, but lets make them have a creature not be able to block, attack, or use abilities that require tapping until it dies. Even if they kill it upon entering the board, you still tapped a creature so its not completely useless.

Cheaper Mana Cost Frost Titan basically.

@Nirvava - don't forget, even though the ability to tap still works if u can blink the geists on ur opponents turn (a' la Restoration Angel and Cloudshift. One won't stay tapped, but after thier untap step, its still tapped anyway...then you can tap something else down. My friend effectively one a game with this...he tapped down my wurmcoil...so i phyrexian metamorph my wurmcoil, you only really need one lol. Then he keeps blinking it, over and over and over, on my turn, so neither one could ever attack.

Guys. This is a 3/3 flying for 4 that has a free Claustrophobia attached. There is not a reason on this earth to not rate this 5/5.

My spirit deck's main removal. Also, the fact that its a 3/3 really helps against pyroclasm and all those other wipes. Most of my other spirits have a toughness of 2 or less. Also, it saves my Niblis of the Breath from tapping duties.

Compare to Somnophore: they both have the same mana cost, both have flying, and both have an ability that involves tapping opponents' creatures without enabling them to untap as long as the card is on the Battlefield.

The key difference in their designs is the trigger for the ability, and it appears WotC balanced the advantage/disadvantage of Dungeon Geists' trigger with the advantage/disadvantage of Somnophore's trigger.

While Dungeon Geists' triggered ability is an enters-the-Battlefield ability, and hence easier to trigger than Somnophore's deals-damage-to-a-player triggered ability, Dungeon Geists is limited in that it can restrict only one creature, while there is no limit to the number of creatures Somnophore can restrict, as long as it does damage to a player once for each trigger. Interestingly, Somnophore's ability can trigger even without combat damage, so if Somnophore is granted a way to deal damage to a player via a noncombat method, such as through being enchanted by Psionic Gift, the ability can trigger.

Balancing the comparatively greater ease of Dungeon Geists' trigger and the lower maximum number of creatures affected with the comparatively lesser ease of Somnophore's trigger and the higher maximum number of creatures affected demonstrates thoughtful design considerations on WotC's part.

It also is possible that Dungeon Geists' power and toughness, each 3, compared to Somnophore's power and toughness, each 2, was a bonus advantage because of the limit on its number of affected creatures.

Huh, I saw this card at release but its taken near two years for me to realize it is not a random worm like spirit but a spirit carrying a dude. Wow.

Because the targeted creature is tapped when Dungeon Geists comes into play, it'll still take an untapping phase for it to untap even after the Geists are dealt with.

As far as flavour goes, I like to imagine the kidnapped creature worming back up those steps before it can get back into combat.
