god this card is dumb. seriously? put it on spikeshot goblin for a nigh-invincible creature that can mega-burn anything on the board (assuming you put any number of uber cheap equips on him that improve power)

A great card! Shroud rocks. I'd use this on my burn which uses tattermunge maniacs, blood knights and countryside crushers as killing engine. I might as well use this with hypnotic specters and tombstalkers on mono black ^^ Mono black has the nasty problem of getting slaughtered by well-rounded slighs and alike, this card in a black deck evens the matchup.

This card works really well in a lot of different decks in different formats. One friend of mine has an artifact aggro-combo deck which relies on cards such as Tolarian Academy, Tinker and Metalworker with Staff of Domination for crazy combo wins. The Greaves ensured that it was done by turn 3 or 4 with a bad draw, and very hard to remove thanks to the shroud

Solid card, but maybe a little overused.

Equip for 0 is just wrong. If this had equip for 1 it wouldn't be nearly as stupid. Giving haste is kind of a big deal.

Should cost 1 and 1 to equip, words can't describe how broken this card currently is.

Give anything haste for free multiple times? Should at least cost 1 to equip, this is silly.

It greaves me to know this card exists.

Got outright stomped by a blinged out Llanowar Elves last night in a three player game.

That was embarassing.

i just looked at this card for the first time. O M G. giving shroud OR haste to any creature after turn 2 for 2 mana is good enough, but both? really? did anyone else realize u can just reequip it for free everytime u play a better creature? i give it like a 5.5/5 i mean, cooooomee oooooooonn

Traded a Phyrexian Vatmother for one of these today. I think I got the better deal.

The only real downside to this is that you can only equip as a Sorcery so you can't shift it over to another creature if they're being targeted during your opponent's turn, then again if it wasn't that way, this would possibly be more broken than Skullclamp.

I'll agree that having an equip cost of zero is just too good. There are just too many creatures you can play that if you have this out with them, basically say "answer with removal now, or forever hold your peace." Like, I dunno, Deep-Sea Kraken. I love the idea of this card, but equip costs of zero are just broken. Wizards appears to agree with the sentiment, evidenced by printing Bone Saw over Shuko.

Y'know what this would be fantastic on? Emrakul. Yeah. Think about it.

Shroud is cool thing for your creatures, which are for using thier abilities, but this card give them also HASTE! If you have a creature with nice tap-ability, this is the coolest shoes for it.

I use for example with Royal Assassin.

while the affects are cost of this card are great, the shroud affect has one serious drawback,
The official rules for shroud are as follows:
702.16. Shroud
702.16a Shroud is a static ability. "Shroud" means "This permanent or player can't be the target of spells or abilities."

meaning you can't target the equipped creature with even you're own spells or abilities that can directly target it. That includes other equipment.

Aside from all of the excellent suggestions other users have made, I'd like to also mention how great these shoes are in reanimator decks. Not only does it make your newly risen creatures immune to spells, but also gives them the ability to attack immediately. Combine this with the innate "come into play" abilities of many modern fatties, and you could easily change board position greatly. Think about it:

Unearth a Cosmic Larva and slap Lightning Greaves on. Swing for 7 with trample.

Zombify Arcanis the Omnipotent and slap on the shoes for a 3 card tap.

Cast Dread Return on Nicol Bolas, slap on a Lightning Greaves and hit for 7 in the air with massive discard.

The possibilities are endless, and the fact that this is both cheap (to equip and cast) and colorless, and not even a rare, makes this card amazing.

EVERY EDH DECK

Absurdly good, with an initial investment of a measly {2} you can give most creatures that come under your control two great keyword abilities that would increase their CMCs by {2} anyway

Anyone? I haven't heard anyone consider using this with Phyrexian Negator.
IT'S WHY THIS CARD WAS IN THE DUEL DECK!

@Kryptnyt: This card doesn't have any effect on Wrath of God, since Wrath does not target. Even creatures with shroud die to Wrath and similar board-wipes.

@HaseoYamazaki: The "drawback" of this card isn't as big of a deal as you seem to think. No, you cannot target the equipped creature with your own spells or equipment, but as long as you have at least one other creature in play, you can simply shift the Greaves to the other creature for free, do whatever you need to on the first creature, then shift the Greaves back to it when you are done. It leaves the creature vulnerable to instant removal while you do it, but that's not that big of a drawback in my book. Just wait until your opponent is tapped out before doing it.

Cards that help out creature decks are always ok in my book. Wrath of God needs a weakness, and shatter needs a job.
@TheMurderousKitten
That's not exactly where I was going with that. Say you have a few creatures in play and a lightning greaves. You're pressuring your opponent, he's got a few creatures as well, and he wraths. Well, feel free to pop in a creature and swing in through his conveniently empty board.
Also, haste increases the damage output of your creatures. You want to squeeze every ounce of value out of the bastards that you can. The shroud on greaves is nice, its true, but the haste is what I like most.
