Impressively solid infecter, and the drawback seems practically irrelevant unless you topdeck it late game against another infect deck.
Just hope you don't play someone playing infect with white splash for Arrest.

An infectious Juzám Djinn.

Excellent drawback for such a powerful creature.

This is the kind of suicidal power infect needs.

I think this will be a Mother everyone will fear. Why Hell Mrs, Vorhees.

Except for once when a tumble magnet kept tapping him, once this guy hit the board, I was assured victory at the pre-release. My favorite four drop in the set.

This card is insane when it is given any boosts and trample. Got a foil and a normal at the pre release and it was victory after victory. Terrible late game against an infect deck.

This card is just as fun to play with as it looks... my #1 card from the prerelease.

I think the biggest problem is that she's trying to fight over the 4-drop slot with Hand of the Praetors.
But otherwise, this is a great threat for infect.

Basically its a big infectious Juzam Djinn (with stats at 8/10) that deals 2 damage to you every turn. As stated before
Well worth the posion counter for such a big infector

This card compares directly to Juzám Djinn and seems to come out ahead. Back in the Revised, 4th, 5th days I didn't think we would ever say that.

Huge bomb in sealed for me...Also, a respectable infect card that can drop turn 3!

OKay...why has nobody said Distortion Strike yet? Cmon. Two turns later you win, and that's if you aren't using it in an infect deck. Crazy.
Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon can do the same thing, but your wallet doesn't hurt as much afterwards.

Equip with Bonehoard for the win. Loving it! Plus the artwork looks like Aliens making it more awesome.

love it, only bad against another infect deck. just make sure to have a sacrifice engine handy, or else when you lose your momentum you may die.

Not sure if this is an automatic for-of in a dedicated infect deck. It seems to clog up the curve a bit when in the same deck as Hand of the Praetors.

I feel like this is the only newer phyrexian card that follows the phyrexian way of sacrificing something in order to gain more power.

for anyone who thinks "meh 4/5 for 4, not too great" think again!

in reality this is the equivalent of an 8/5 for 4, except the opponent is not allowed to gain that life back in any way, and if it would deal damage, you put 4 -1/-1 counters on the creature instead.

AKA: 5 stars

Guys, forget using this in an infect deck. Those who said Hand of the Praetors is better are correct (for dedicated infect), but imagine 4 copies of this creature in a control deck. Assuming you aren't playing an infect deck, his drawback is negligible. Combine that with his 8/4 body, and you've got a beater better than Plague Sliver or Juzám Djinn.

I am very glad I chose to purchase this guy.
I felt like my B/G infect really needed some bigger, scarier Infect creatures mid-game, I was running Tangle Angler in his place...

Needless to say the deck has improved greatly. It is a bit open for chump blocks, but Unnatural Predation takes care of that.

I drafted this and made a pretty solid black/white infect deck with it. It's a great bomb in standard, because by the time it comes out, your opponent is nearly dead, dead, dead, and never to return.

kite sail, being hit by a 5/5 infect with flying only happens twice. Infect with high toughness is nice to see.

the only real flaw with this card is that it competes with hand of the praetors for the 4-spot

any other vorthos's out there feel her art was made for a blue card? the vials and everything sticking out of her seem like what was in the style guide for blue

Funny thing is that even without the drawback many here still wouldn't think of it as constructed-worthy.

Drop Vathmother, pray she stays there and next turn, drop down a Neurok Invisimancer for the lols, might work.

It's refreshing to see new cards with drawbacks. Well thought out ones at least.

people act like the poison counter is a drawback. unless youre playing vs infect, youre not going to die from poison. games do not last 15 turns.

5/5, not as cool but imo more powerful than hand of the praetors. theres a reason pretty much ever monoblack infect runs two of these.

This card pairs nicely with Phyrexian Crusader to form the core of a blue-black infect deck I built:

I agree with most of the posters that the drawback is irrelavant, but I disagree with most about Hand of the Praetors. I actually like Vatmother better.

best arrest target ever. :D

makes it do more harm than good to your opponent. but if you can't do anything to this thing, it WILL run all over you before you can do anything

Puts yourself on a ten turn clock, which is okay because your opponent is on a three turn one instead. 5/5

Could be a reasonable finisher in non-infect decks as well. As with infect in general, consider pump spells. Fallen Ideal next to carrion or sengir autocrat is game.

@stille_nacht

Not allowed to gain that life back in any way, huh? I cast LEECHES!
