Arguably the best of the Chancellors just because Green has the easiest time getting him out. His abilities are also pretty powerful.

Vigilance and Reach are both very necessary utilities in Mono-Green EDH. Both on one card seems pretty good to me.

hmm. dont know wat to think of this one yet. with four of him i could cut llanowar almost all together for overgrown battlement. wish he had trample. but i like reach. alot.
overgrown battlement LOL that card sucks. how bout turn one CHANNEL, LOTUS COBRA, TARMOGOYF, RAMPANT GROWTH, 2 Magus of the Vineyards, Elvish Visionary, and much more. plus 6/7 with Vigilance & Reach w/ Amazing art. WOW! It kills baneslayer and demigod. pretty dam good 5/5

With a mere seven of these in your opening hand, you can cast one of them for free.

if you reveal this card from your hand, you can get out a turn 1 overgrown battlement, turn 2 drop down any other 2 drop defender then tap the overgrown for another overgrown, turn 3 you have 9 mana, useing a mere 4 cards. And you didn't even cast on of them, so you can spend your 7 of your 9 mana on that.

i see many mulligans to 5 (maybe even 4) to get this and lotus cobra for an opening hand.
Turn 1: Reveal Chancellor, play land, cast Lotus Cobra Turn 2: Fetch, crack fetch, cast Harrow, cast another Harrow, cast Caged Sun (naming green) Turn 3: Fetch, crack Fetch, cast Harrow, cast Emrakul the Aeons Torn

If you had 4 of these in hand and 3 Simian Spirit Guide you COULD cast it first turn legally...although you'd have only 3 Chancellor of the Tangle in hand, and would be extremely susceptible to removal...

Vigilance is interesting on this guy, but it combos really well with Reach. Hopefully we'll see more of it in Green in the future, and that this isn't just a case of New Phyrexia doing whatever the hell it wants.
It just hasn't showed up in any particularly interesting card, save for the Cavaliers maybe, but that was part white, so people didn't notice too much. I can say I'm happy to say a big cool rare with it (and with a fitting second keyword). Maybe, if this gets popular, green vigilance will be more known.
More than black haste, anyway.

Turn one Fauna Shaman and then discard him next turn.

My favorite Chancellor for sure. Not that it's hard to giver him Trample.. but it would have been nice if he had it.

you can use this guy in a red green aggro deck to pwn your friends:
chose to draw first opening hand: 4 chanceler of the tangle, 2 lotus cobra, 1 misty rainforrest top of deck: urabrask the hidden reveal the chancelers first turn draw urabrask use 4 mana for 2 lotus cobras play and trigger fetch land for forrest use 2 of the 4 mana the cobras give you as red mana tap forrest and use other 2 mana for any other color and play urabrask who gives himself haste and own your opponent with a 4/4 haste giver on turn 1

Vigilance is a great combination with reach, and its opening hand ability can allow you to accelerate dramatically.

This is effectively a first-turn forest substitute that only works on the first turn, the only thing any self-respecting elf deck requires to go off.

For all these "Lotus Cobra on turn 1" people, sure you can drop Lotus Cobra turn 1, and that *could* lead to an interesting combo. But these combos will never be practical. They're so pathetic they could be stopped by a simple Hornet Sting. Once they remove the Cobra, your entire hand becomes completely useless and you've pretty much lost.

Awesome ability...but I wonder why they went with reach over trample?
Gameplan: Reveal all 3 chancellors, get a 1/1 haste goblin and 2 {G} your first turn.
Drop Swamp, and than play both groundswells with your mana from Chancellor of the tangle (making goblin a 9/9) swing with goblin, tap swamp and cast Tainted strike, you now have a 10/9 infect haste.
probably not gonna get this as your opening hand and it can be stopped but the fact its possible is still scary. stuff like this is why they made gut shot and mental misstep .

i want to use this guy to get demon of death's gate out on turn one. I'm thinking either vault skirge or the one mc living weapon with this guy and mox opal would do it. Then give him tainted strike and win turn two.

Chancellor of the Tangled isn't very a good card. It's reveal ability is the worst out of all the chancellor's.

On the play, reveal four from your opener and proceed to play Garruk Wildspeaker. You then realise his first ability has no legal targets so proceed to pump out a 3/3. Fun times ahead?

I can't seem to see how this thing's abilities tie in with both the creature, and each other.
First up, the "Chancellor" perk. That's kinda cool, I'll admit. Potentially speeds up your first turn, but other than that, eh. If you don't have a 2-drop, this won't help you too much.
Now, can someone explain to me why a beast has reach and vigilance? Those are the last two keywords I would think of when looking at this thing. Trample is an obvious choice, but overall, I don't mind too much. Maybe it's so big it can just pluck a drake out of the sky, I dunno.
What irks me the most about this card is how disjointed it's abilities are. Every other Chancellor's abilities have lined up, from generating tokens to slowing opponents. So explain to me the relation between generating mana and being a massive, walking net to catch dragons? I'm not seeing the connection, Wizards.

Would be way sweeter if revealing him granted an emblem with something like "at the beginning of your pre-combat main phase add {G} to your mana pool." A nice little nod to Eladamri's Vineyard, but not as obscenely fast paced.

Assault Strobe, 1/1 double Striker, pay six life, 7/7 double striker, giant growth 10/10 double striker. Of course it doesn't have trample so your opponent need only block with a 1/1 but...

Not a spectacular card but I plan on using it for mana turn 1 and then exiling it for Allosaurus Rider. I'm not used to playing three creatures on the first turn (even though that means you've spend 6 cards already).
Best contender I can think of for the one drops is Experiment One.
Show Chancellor of the Tangle -> forest -> Experiment One x2 -> Allosaurus Rider
Assuming you play a forest next turn that's two 2/2s and a 3/3 ready to attack turn two.

I guess wizards figured they had already given us Baloth Woodcrasher, Ezuri's Brigade, Terra stomper, & Liege of the Tangle...so we had enough gigantic trample for some time...
Although with the new squad hawk filled meta, maybe reach will be more valuable...
