I enjoy how he has taken the time out of his wurm-fleeing to strike a Captain Morgan pose.
Now THAT'S a bard.

This makes 7 green cards that give or have Vigilance. Share that color pie!

I don't exactly get why gaining vigilance has to be made optional and seriously can't think of any situation where this could become disadvantageous, but well having the choice whether to do it or not has never hurt. Didn't suppose to get green Vigilance in that block, but i like it.

You may want your creatures to become tapped for attacking. If you are playing against a rampage deck with lures, tapping your creatures to attack benefits you rather than having them all have to block, and die.

I'm really beginning to like this guy. He is a decent defender, makes all my allies have vigilance, and doesn't die to lightning bolt. He really is pretty good.

Considering that other green allies like Oran-Rief Survivalist and Graypelt Hunter are at the normal curve and have cumulative permanent bonuses, a 1/4 for 4 with a mediocre until-end-of-turn effect is pretty terrible.

@Mode: The major reason is that players can forget triggers, so if it's a "may" it saves a lot of trouble. Sure, this thing won't be played in tournaments (where it matters if you forgot a trigger and when), but they do the same on many cards.

Adrian Rosada had one of these in his Heartstabber Hurtdown deck which won the draft.
I still dont understand why, he must have been really desperate for a creature as its the only ally in the deck, and there are no ways to give it haste, so really it is a vanilla 4 for a 1/4 in green.... I would have put in an extra land...
anyway its a descent card as it gives vigilance to all your ally creatures, and outside of white which is pretty good to have, although vigilance isn't a game winning ability it is one of my favourite abilities, i even made a similar ability based off it in a set i made on mse 'pounce,' a creature with pounce can only block if it is tapped

One of only two bards in magic. He's a smashing fine chap to hang around with, but don't let him meet your mother. @Mode The only reason I can think of is that if you want to draft Allies on MTGO you have to be quick at clicking "yes" because ALL ally triggers are optional. I drafted an awesome ally deck once but I timed out. It really did suck.

One, that's an elf with a bitchin' beard. Two, the *** is green doing with Vigilance? Three, underwhelming for an Ally, but at least he does something interesting. Vaguely.
