Makes me laugh to think that Fusion Elemental costs the same as this epicness.

Find your amoebic changeling and use it to take over any of your opponents creatures for 3 and tapping the amoebic changeling.

Fusion Elemental isn't legendary, so it wouldn't be as good. My question is, if this is supposed to be a 'premium deck' why didn't any of the cards get new art? And why didn't they reprint the Sliver Queen?

I at least wanted to see if Sliver Overlord would be getting a new look, but since I already have the old one and all the Slivers that come in this deck, the only reason I'd bother buying this would be to have them holofoil'd and with new card frames, neither of which I actually care about much. : /

- They can't reprint Sliver Queen since the card is on the "Reserved List", i. e. a list of cards that WotC doesn't want to reprint, ever.

- "Legendary" does not equal "good"

- I'd also expected to see some new Art on the Overlord.

- Now to the Card:
It's tutoring Ability is great in late game. Too bad you can't take over your opponents creatures when you have Crystaline or Ward Sliver out. Wins the Mirror Match, Antisliver-Sliver.

Face it, not that good. "Gain control of target sliver"? Come on, they said Sliver Ancient was too narrow? Then what is this?

If you use this card with Unnatural Selection, do you lose control of "target Sliver" at end of turn (once it is no longer a Sliver)?

I am happy. The premium deck that I bought has two sliver overlords. Nothing else is missing but I got two.

I have to say this looks a lot better with the new card layout, even though the old one brings back memories.

Lol-z combo...

Bazaar Trader and Hivestone, give the hivestone to them, pull out your Sliver Overlord, start taking all their creatures.

It's not good.
How can it become Mythic Rare

How can you say it's not good? A 7/7 for WUBRG is pretty good on its face, plus it gets ALL the bonuses of every sliver you have already played, plus it can tutor for any of the myriad slivers that exist in your deck to solve any problem you need to.

I love this guy,

Wasn't sure about him until I had my sliver deck up against another sliver deck, managed to get both him and sliver legion into play.

Promptly stole all of his slivers and had a multitude of (insert ridiculous P/T stats here), flying, trampling, pro-black, flanking, shrouded...

It just got really silly.

best sliver ever as amazing as so many slivers all he will get you all and the exact slivers you need he is even more powerfull then he looks I want to make a sliver deck with 4 of him 4 Crystalline Sliver so they cant kill him and 4 Gemhide Slivers so I can get him out and pay for his ability easily if you dont win withina few turns after you get him out you are not using him right.

Make an EDH sliver deck and make this guy your general. I guarantee your friends will never want to play EDH again.

Holy crap, this makes me want to build a Sliver deck so bad. Just looking at all the Sliver decks, I know exactly how'd I construct it too. Insanity will soon ensue on the table top.

Sliver Overlord is in general a powerful creature. Add in the fact that he becomes more powerful with each other sliver on the field of play... and when gotten from the Premium Deck you get Coat of Arms too...
Simply put Slivers are epic

Man, this card is one of the main reasons I'm leery about sideboarding a Hivestone for an upcoming tribal tournament. Having all their slivery bonuses apply to my creatures is very nice, but not if it allows them to take everything. I guess that's why I have stuff like Swords to Plowshares.

You honestly don't need to think much to make Sliver decks, in EDH or otherwise. Aggro for the unimaginative, as it pretty much builds itself.

I hate Slivers. Always a pain. I always use Life's Finale to drop as many power houses as I can, just to follow it up with dropping The Mimeoplasm to eat them out of the graveyard, and then recycle my boardwipes and repeat.

Like I said, boring. Boring to play, and boring to play against.

Also, don't we wish to open up Magic to as many players as possible? So why on earth would you run these in hopes of scaring people out of the game? Or even a specific format?

so if someone plays an Iona, Shield of Emeria after youve played sliver overlord and they choose say green can i still activate his abilities?
sonorhC
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Omega137: If it's just Ward Sliver that's causing you problems, you can fix that with a Ghostflame Sliver. Crystalline Sliver will still mess it up, though.

@gantz036: Iona, Shield of Emeria stops opponents from casting spells of the chosen color, but it doesn't stop them from using abilities. If you've already got this guy out when Iona hits the field, you can continue to use him. But if he was in your hand at the time, you wouldn't be able to cast him.

I love it to death..... but when used in a sliver deck, it has a major drawback. if your opponent manages to take control of Sliver Overlord, your creatures will quickly turn agaist you. I like to use Runed Stalactite to equip to an opponatnts creatures and then immediatly take controkl of them for 3.

How about Unnatural Selection? Not only does it provide easy creature stealing, but If you're playing EDH multiplayer, Unnatural Selection is also a great multiplayer tool, since you can buff other players' creatures with your slivers at instant speed.

Do you know why I love slivers?
They are great fun bringers
They have poison and blades and wings
They are legions and queens and kings
They have overlords and can tutor up their kin
They just swarm and grow if you let them begin
So don’t be afraid of my one-armed friend
They have poultice dudes with them to mend
They have acid and fungus and wakes of flame
They will just keep growing till I win the game
With fury and hides full of gems or crystal skin
A shifting sliver lets me swing for the win.
Aura shards and vindicate and psionic entity
And mistform beasts to take your identity
Reflex, roots, shadows and sedge
Toxin, two heads, victual, vampiric and sledge
Barbed and armored, watcher and ward
No matter which, each is a lord
Haste, trample, firebreathing, first strike
Flanking, buffs, provoke and psych
Regenerate, shroud, draw and lifelink
Frenzy, mill, reach and blink
Shade, mana, shadow and reach
Flying shadow, protection and leech
But do you know the best thing of my army’s twin-tailed forms?
My little sliver pretties come in swarms.

It's not that Wizards doesn't want to reprint cards on the reserve list (in fact there are a number of cards on it they DO want to print again), it's that they promised they wouldn't reprint them to preserve the secondary market and have the integrity to stand by their word.

How exactly would you equip Runed Stalactite to your opponents' creatures? I mean, I guess that would be a novel use for Magnetic theft, but you'd get a maximum of 4 shots with it, wasting up to 5 slots in your deck(equipment + 4 copies of magnetic theft). Using Amoeboid Changeling accomplishes the same thing, as many times as you can untap him, he's tutor-able with Overlords search ability, AND he gets all the bonuses from your slivers.

One problem I've found in my testing of this guy as a general, and he is an amazing general. But I found it's easy to shut him down. Just slap a Faith Fetters, or Arrest on him, and he's out of the game, in all ways. It's gotta be something that stops his ability usage though. I still give this card a 5/5 though. This was the fist big bad sliver I owned, and started my love of them. I own two, both from the scourge set, one normal, one foil. (the foil is my general.)

What would be really funny is if you were running Olivia Voldaren as a commander against this Sliver EDH. "Oh, you played your commander? Well, now he's a vampire, and now he's mine..." Then you laugh hysterically as you beat his face in with his own commander while taking his slivers one-by-one.

In my opinion, the best choice between the three possible sliver generals in EDH. Why? Nobody will dare to play their OWN sliver EDH against a general that can take the majority of their deck with ease. More importantly though, it has the ability to tutor for **ANY** sliver in your deck, including the other two legends. So sure, you can make all your Sliver Queen combo shenanigans, but with Overlord, you can get the pieces faster. Seems like a win-win to me.

This a tough EDH general to fight.

You can tutor artifact/enchantment/creature removal, life gain, evasion, shroud, protection from a color, poisonous, etc. Then, to make matters even worse, your 7-power, unblockable, untargetable, untuckable general kills with commander damage in 3 hits.

However, the raw power is NOT the problem.
The problem is that he plays the same EVERY game. It's boring. And counter to the vision of EDH:

"The Banned List for Commander is designed not to balance competitive play, but to help shape in the minds of its fans the vision held by its founders and Rules Committee. That vision is to create variable, interactive, and epic multiplayer games where memories are made, to foster the social nature of the format, and to underscore that competition is not the format’s primary goal. It sets out to define the parameters of Official Commander while recognizing that local groups may wish to modify things to suit their own needs." -Sheldon Menery
