I have to say, when building a Sliver deck, this card is a must. Other cards I would recomend would be Crypt Sliver, Shifting Sliver (because generally you won't be playing against another sliver deck), and perhaps Muscle Sliver and/or Sinew Sliver (the timeshifted version of Muscle Sliver).

This card is pretty much broken. Once you play this, many decks will be rendered entirely impotent.

Very nice sliver although a bit of an expensive casting cost. I suggest this sliver used with Crystalline Sliver for best sliver protection.

good sliver but not the best to high of mana cost and it is only a 2/2 i would think it woul be a 3/3 for its mana cost plus if theres a ghostflame sliver or a colorless creature your in trouble

@agalloch: Wrath of God will still destroy all your creatures even if they have protection from white. You're only really protecting them from m@ss damage spells, above and beyond what Crystalline Sliver can do.

Ever since the inception of gemhide sliver, I have found that dropping crystaline sliver (heresy yes I know) in favor of these has prove more profitable. Its still a potential turn 3 drop that gives you unblockability, and an easy time defending (realistically it does), protection is under rated imo, especially this card.

5 Mana is not hard to pump out if your sliver deck is decent.

Saved my slivers from harm several times :D

Still, better uses for 5 mana, i'll stick to my crystallines unless in edh.

i hate this guy. my friend has it in his sliver deck, and my best deck is mono green (although i don't prefer that color) and 5 mana to make all of his slivers unblock able and indestructible with only one card is exemplary. Question, is colorless considered a color?

I prefer this over Crystalline Sliver. Mass removal is one of the biggest enemies for Sliver decks. This can protect against that. Crystalline Sliver can't.

@nammertime: Thank you. I stand corrected.

despite it's high CMC this still seems incredibly underrated. in most circumstances it will serve the purpose of crystalline Sliver, shifting sliver, and make them perfect blockers too.
it might cost a few more mana but it serves as 3 cards, one of which doesn't actually exist.

i do not see how wrath of god (white) will harm things that have protection from white...

Wrath of God does not work because protection only protects those creatures from being targeted. M@ss removal does not target, it simply destroys everything, similar to Damnation, Plague Winds, Akroma's Vengeance, etc.

Totally worth the cost. Protection encompas$es not only color-hosed shroud, but also unblockability and damage prevention, which are very powerful a$sets on a creature deck.

Clearly the sliver in the picture chose pro-red.

probally the best sliver there is, means your slivers cant be targeted by spells of the color, they are unblockable by creatures of the color, and when you block any damage done to your slivers by creatures of the chosen color are prevented (barring trample damage)

So one quick specific question
I am using this card in my sliver deck and
my opponent uses "Astral Slide" in his cycling
deck, i have already choosen protection from
white using ward sliver, can he use "Astral Slide"
to remove my slivers from game or they are
protected?

Thanks in advance

Since it doesn't say as long as it's in play, can this be bounced and recast for multi colored protection?

Ward Sliver has always been a game winner for me. Sure it's 5 mana for a 2/2, but there are so many easy ways to crank out slivers without worrying about mana.

Prot isn't nearly as potent as it used to be nowadays, but it is still a solid contributor to any sliver build.

One of the only ways for Slivers to screw over Nameless Inversion.
