I really hope they revisit Minotaurs some day. And when they do, this card will be waiting.

Name makes it sound like it should be unhinged, but it's not. And it's actually not too bad.

Just wait guys, one day they will print a block where a Minotaur tribal is powerful, then this card will suddenly become godly!

I love this card. However, it's likely the reason why there have been so few Minotaurs compared to other tribes. Comes out first turn, by turn 3 you're cranking out (on avg) 3/3's with some extra bonus (Haste, Super First Strike, 3 dam to a flyer, etc) at Flash speed no less, for 3 colorless mana.

The first time I ever read about this card, I made it my mission to get 4 and make my Minotaur deck. And mrredhatter is right, Game-Trail Changeling is the current rockstar in my Minotaur deck.

Clearly Minotaurs are Australian. How else does this make sense?

Don't forget that this ability is instant-speed and reusable.

I run this with Aether Charge, Changeling Titan, Changeling Hero, and Changeling Berserker. Once you get something to champion (any creature will do), and champion 3 times, your Minotaurs/Beasts/Kittens will make a loop of infinite damage. A veritable kitten cannon, if you will.

I feel like the defining card in a Didgeridoo-Changeling deck would actually be Kazuul Warlord. He starts off as a 4/4 for 3 colorless, which is great already, and since your Changelings are all allies, he pumps them as well. I love Didgeridoo.

Digeridoo, AEther Storm, and multiple minotaurs all in the same set--were they conscious of this nigh-unstoppable combo before the cards were set to print? My guess is they were not, as Wizards certainly would have reigned in the power level on this remarkably broken combination of cards. Never would players have trembled at the mention of the name Homelands!

Heaven only knows what they were thinking when they decided that Minotaurs badly needed to be turned into a tribe. It might have worked, had they printed any Minotaurs worth playing?! And here we are, over 10 years later, and aside from Changlings, I still don't think there are enough decent Minotaurs to fill out a deck. This card is so random and so Homelands.

Use your imagination people:
T1: Island, Didgeridoo
T2: Mountain, tap for Mass Hysteria or Forest, tap for Concordant Crossroads, end of opponents turn, tap Island for Artificial Evolution to change Minotaur to Eldrazi
T3: Land, beat face with the Eldrazi of your choice!

I played an all blue deck like this with out the haste and would consistently attack turn 4 with a huge Eldrazi so it's not a stretch at all, except the haste part...

I appreciate how gatherer clarifies the you "may" part in the ruling.

"Putting the card onto the battlefield is optional. When the ability resolves, you can choose not to."

Is there a combo that i'm not aware of that involves activating artifact abilities or involving the player's hand being targeted? otherwise i'm stumped as to why you would pay 3 mana and not use the ability.

Unfortunately on the reserve list, which means the inevitable Minotaur tribal deck in Theros won't have this to aid it. Except for Legacy and Vintage.

Definitely a must for a Minotaur deck. Even if it wasn't on that &$@# Reserved List it wouldn't be in Theros without being renamed and costing more.

ok, so i get that creature spells used to be summon spells (i was there, maaan), and that the 'directly into play as though just summoned' clause means it can't immediately tap/attack or be countered, but does it mean simply that, or should it read 'as though it were just cast'? i.e. will my quirion dryad benefit from my pseudo-casting of a minotaur?
also: i'd recommend picking up some of these things now, if you're interested in playing legacy minotaurs. i got my x4 set just a few months ago on ebay for something like $2 and prices have already climbed considerably.

@thevegetable
the card now reads "You may put a Minotaur permanent card from your hand onto the battlefield."
so no it is not cast. I want this card reprinted in Theros, I want it reprinted so bad.

Watching the price of this rise from $0.40 to $16.00 before settling at about $8.00 made for an entertaining week. It sort of felt like I was part of the stock market. :P

Here's hoping we see some kind of Minotaurakul, the Aeons Horned badass huge enough and swingy enough to make cheating it into play worth your time. Because if I see "RUG Didgeridoo" on a top 8 list for Legacy I will die laughing.

It's in case your opponent has some kind of instant-speed trick that'd jack your minotaur or something. Gather Specimens or something like that. Better to keep it in your hand than let your opponent get it, eh?

Question to fellow Minotaur tribalists: Is it worth it to have Didgeridoo now that there's Ragemonger?

Background: Back to the game after a decade long break, and I'm making my first constructed deck from all the stuff I'm drafting. Minotaurs are fun, so I figured I'd go with that.

Now, the way I see it, Minotaurs make a lot of sense in Red and Black. Kragma Warcaller can be HUGE, especially when there's more than one on the field. Ragemonger helps shave off a stray colored mana, so a lot of minotaurs are reduced to 1-3 CMC.

At this point alone, it sounds like kind of a toss up on how useful didgeridoo is. Playing more Ragemongers honestly sounds like the smarter plan, since it also has value as being a minotaur and gets any tribal bonuses that are already on the battlefield.

Second point: Rakdos, Lord of Riots. Play him after having a Ragemonger already out. Hit an opponent with a Lightning Strike next turn. Play all of your minotaurs for free.

When this card was printed, there were only four Minotaur cards in existence (Anaba Ancestor and Anaba Bodyguard later getting errata'd.) Truly Didgeridoo was ahead of it's time.

It's a must have in a Minotaur tribal deck. Even when most Minotaurs cost 3cmc, it fixes your colors! Boros Reckoner won't require you to avoid putting down swamps. Minotaur Skullcleaver suddenly makes for a great surprise blocker with Didgeridoo's ability to place your Minotaurs on the battlefield at instant speed, and anything with cost higher than 3 completely breaks the battlefield. Having a Minotaur Aggressor suddenly charge at you for 6 on turn 3 is scary.
