perfect in most minotaur decks cause you can use the ability more than once a turn, i have a merfolk/minotaur deck with no red mana. how ever i have four didgeridoos, in one turn i can tap 12 mana for 4 4/4 haste minotaurs! i can not see how this card could ever be bad.

Don't forget-- you can also tutor for this with Trinket Mage! BROKEN.

It's indeed a very powerful card in Minotaur decks, yet there's one problem:
They are a very unfortunate tribal type.

I'd rather play this card with Conspiracy or Changelings.

One day they will make some badass minotaurs and this card will be worth 30 bucks and boxes of homelands will go from $80 online to 200+ like other sets in that era lol. Maybe the reason why they haven't printed any powerful Minotaurs is BECAUSE of this card....

I still don't understand this card.
So didgeridoos (aboriginal instrument) attract minotaurs (greek monsters) do they?
I'm sure the connection here is just as stretched.

Aboriginal Minotaurs.

One of the very few good things about Homelands.

Great card in Minotaur decks.

Too bad there aren't many useful Minotaurs. This card's potential is great, though.

Didgeridoo? Of all the names possible, they choose didgeridoo?

@divine_exodus:

Don't blame Wizards of the Coast, blame the "Abberdigital" Australians.

My biggest question is the ruling:
"Putting the card onto the battlefield is optional. When the ability resolves, you can choose not to."
Why would you use three mana to NOT put a card on to the battlefield? Nothing changes but the amount of mana in your pool...

Turn 1: Sol Ring, then tap for this.
Turn 2: Pay the 3, bring out Zedruu the Greathearted
Turn 3: Give your opponent the didgeridoo, and HOPE TO GOD they're not running some sort of Homelands Minotaur deck.

You: I cast digeridoo!
Opponent: *trollface* Lol, you gonna swarm me with minotaurs?
You: Nope, I cast Artificial Evolution!
You: Naming slivers!

@MacBizzle
Imagine, a serious as hell Legacy tourney.
You've got your digeridoo out, and a fetchland in play. You also have enough mana sources to activate the Digeridoo without fetching a land.
Your opponent has an untapped Island, and you know he has exactly one Stifle in hand.
You have no minotaurs in hand. But you might still activate the digeridoo, just to get him to counter the ability so you can safely fetch a land.

What happens when Flanders gets to name a card

Gave it a 5 for what it does. Pity the tribe is weak as hell

I think this card has a bad reputation for two reasons:
1. Didgeridoos actually exist in the real world, why on Earth would i spend my time crafting something I can buy from a zoo gift store?
2. Minotaur subtype really limits the card and gives it a bit of confusing flavour, that said, it still combos with 29 cards with the minotaur subtype and an additional 74 cards with the shapeshifter subtype...you can still use it with some very good shapeshifter cards, bringing in a Quicksilver Gargantuan at instant speed for {3} instead of {5}{U}{U}? Not the greatest card ever, but still has tons of potential...if you are going this route, just beware of the mighty Goatnapper.

@tcollins: You can't get Quicksilver Gargantuan into play with this. They would need "Changeling" not just shapeshifter creature type.

With all the new Boros minotaurs that came with RTR, This is definitely something people should start looking out for.

This card is so great. To summon your army of minotaurs you don't need to have red magic, or any magic - you just blow on the mighty didgeridoo and a thundering herd of bull-headed beasts bursts through the nearest wall, ready to do your bidding.

There should be a version for giants called Bagpipes.

ok, so i get that creature spells used to be summon spells (i was there, maaan), and that the 'directly into play as though just summoned' clause means it can't immediately tap/attack or be countered, but does it mean simply that, or should it read 'as though it were just cast'? i.e. will my quirion dryad benefit from my pseudo-casting of a minotaur?
also: i'd recommend picking up some of these things now, if you're interested in playing legacy minotaurs. i got my x4 set just a few months ago on ebay for something like $2 and prices have already climbed considerably.

@thevegetable: When you put a minotaur onto the battlefield using Didgeridoo, that does not count as casting the minotaur. The minotaur cannot be countered (as it is not being cast as a spell), and it does not trigger effects that happen when something is cast (like, say, Quirion Dryad).

This is how all "put something onto the battlefield" effects (e.g. Show and Tell) work. For example, Emrakul has an effect that only happens when it is cast. Emrakul is commonly used with Show and Tell, which allows you to put Emrakul onto the battlefield but does not trigger Emrakul's "when you cast ~" ability because you are not casting Emrakul.

"But... what does an aboriginal wind instrument have to do with creatures from greek mythology?"
Okay, apparently MaRo cleared that up today - http://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/61095861845/what-is-a-digeridoos-connection-to-minotaurs
