I have heard people naysay this, and although I can understand why, I still enjoy playing it and find it a good card. It's nice to have a card to help you get out of that awful stuck-on-three-lands, or the even worse stuck-on-two-lands feeling.

this card isnt terrible, but it only shines in certain situations. It costs more overall than mulldrifter being evoked or Council of the Soriatami, but you can spread it out over a couple of turns, it can be tutored for with Fabricate in an artifact deck. also, after the initial investment of 2 the card draw ability is instant speed and VERY hard to counter. not a bad card

Good synergy with Sanctum Gargoyle.

Under-rated card. Its 1 more mana than divination, but split over 2 turns so you can pay it when you only have 2 available (eg mana screwed) and once its down it can be activated at instant speed.

I run 3 of these in my grixis control deck. What some of you don't realize is the hability to gain card advantage leaving your lands untapped. Turn 4 negate/essence scatter with a courier's capsule on play means that you will either counter or get card advantage. You just need to know how to use your resources wisely and this is one of the few decent if any decent option for card advantage on control.
The problem with blue right now is not the counterspells (although it may need a soft counter-for-everything) but the lack of decent card draw engine on early turn. I guess it's hard for wizards to find the right balance as 1 less cmc than divination for the same effect would be broken and the fact that ponder doesn't give card advantage. I find this an elegant but half good option to that problem but not strong enought to bring blue to top tier.

Ardent Plea can cascade into this; and then you can crack it whenever you need.

This card makes Sun Titan read "When Sun Titan enters the battlefield, draw two cards."

A good solution to the problem is reprint accumulated knowledge.

Its decent. It can help you get some card advantage early on. I just wish the white member of this cycle was as playable. 3.5*

I like the flavour. Plus the flavour of carrying around magic trinkets with you seems cool to me. Too bad you can't fetch it off of a Trinket Mage :(

Run Think Twice instead. Same concept, but you can play the first half at instant speed while netting a card, big difference.
