This is my favorite card in the set. I just love it.

"Hey Ulamog. Could I get you to stand in front of this door? You know, check ID and make sure no one tries to sneak in with snacks? Oh, and could I get you to run through the theater with a broom after each show? Sweet, dude."

This card is so horrible, I wish I could rate it a 0.

There is nothing horrible about this card. I dont see anything wrong with being able to stop your enemies strongest monsters in their tracks for 1 mana.

Kirtar's Desire, but grats a keyword, and has no additional effect.

The great eldrazi stopper as ZEVIL said it.

Great card for keeping down those dangerous Eldrazi, plus the flavor text is a laugh.

Actually, after actually PLAYING against this card, I can tell you that it's pretty awesome at being REALLY annoying!

Anyone saying this is crap doesn't understand how this card is supposed to be used. (HINT: You don't play it on your own creatures!)

Oh you just tapped your 10 mana for Kozilek. Now he's just a big, fat, expensive doorman.

Yeah, the half-pacifism is pretty sweet with all of the mega creatures running around.

I LOVE the artwork for this card... it is beyond perfect.

Nice shield for defending. What is that, a dinner plate?

5 for having doody in the name.

Also deals with Vengevine without letting it come back. In decks that don't use attacking creatures as a win-con, this card is the practically the same as removal.

Love it. Absolutely epic card. 5/5

By times when you could have creature destruction for cmc 1, this card is really useless. White - in addition - shouldn't get auras that enchant creatures an opponent controls. Therefore this feels more like a blue card in my opinion.

I guess its an okay card. Might be okay in extended but in limited this card screw this card. i dont mind this card because if someone uses this on one of my creatures i can actually put this use do to the defender sub-theme, but there is no way I am going to use this card if someone can also use this to their advantage. it would be better if enchanted creature cannot attack. this card fails by giving enchanted creature defender.

Against the eldrazi annihilaters, this is awesome.

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
It totally saved my bacon against those dang annihilators and level uppers in my draft tonight, but anywhere else, just suffer the one extra mana and play the always-legal pacifism. This will always be viewed as a half-pacifism, but that doesn't make it bad at all. 4.5/5 in limited, but strictly worse than pacifism in constructed.

Hello? It's cheap, effective, and it gives your Grotag Seige Runner an easy target.

Kirtar's desire is strictly better assuming you do not want to use the defender keyword. if you do, then i guess this is, but how often is that going to happen?

Great card. The defender-matters theme of Rise is not nearly powerful enough to make this card bad. 1-mana removal will always be awesome.

@RafiqTheMiststalker in fairness, he's quite a big guy. there's no way he's gonna fit through that door.

Perfect for an Eldrazi, or really anything with Annihilator. I mean, how perfect of a guard do those things make?

@Laguz
As much as I want to agree, even in this case you can't use "Strictly". Cheaper is still cheaper. I wholeheartedly agree Pacifism is better, but enough people here don't understand the word "strictly" and continue to throw it around in every comment. We don't need to reinforce this.

That said, I like the idea behind this. But even in the "defender-matters" decks, I could never see putting this on my own creature as a benefit. You'll get one more mana out of Overgrown Battlement? One more damage from Vent Sentinel? Not worth it to me. And in an aggressive deck, the only thing worse is giving your opponent's creature vigilance. Maybe you could work out a combo with Grotag Siege-Runner, but really?

I will give it credit it limited. It does hose annihilator pretty well.

No longer standard thanks to Innistrad, which makes the flavor text that much more amusing.

Seems potentially better than pacifism in a control deck or any that focuses on evasive creatures - in such times as when you don't give a crap if they've got a blocker or not. Also, costing only 1 mana makes it really attractive to me as a control card. It's not a Path to Exile nor a Swords to Plowshares, but it's quite playable as far as I know.

Enchanted Creature takes arrow to knee.

The flavor text is a nice comment on the problems with White's worldview. The guy looks red or green to me, and this spell has con***ed him into defending the keep or town, but the pencil-pusher responsible doesn't care enough to try and get appropriate equipment to help the poor guy actually survive.

@Quibbleflux - Thank you for that. Now it's been said, and no one else need say it. We, the team, would like to thank you for taking one for us.

A great way to *** off people who take advantage of the Unleash mechanic. "Look, that Rakdos Cackler can't attack anymore, and since you Unleashed it, it can't block either!" Also handy for dealing with Flying when you don't have anything with Flying or Reach. This is a great generalist control card, and being a 1-drop, can be handy when defending yourself in the early stages against aggro players.

More useful than it looks; For instance, say you have something like Fortress Crab or another defender/utility creature that your opponent just played a spell on that forces it to attack each turn. It can't do that if it has defender. It also deals with any opponent's creature that has shadow, effectively nullifying their presence.

Yes, there may be cards that do this more efficiently, but how many of them cost one mana, have a useful keyword, and are hilarious to boot?
