Try him with the father of the Nayan gods,
step 1: pop out an 8/8 token to block the death toucher
step 2: block death toucher with token
step 3: deal damage to death toucher so it dies
step 4: a little game of catch with a giant beast

Very efficient beater. And throwing your gigantic critters at the opponent's face after combat is pure fun. :) 4/5.

Sure giants throwing creatures at players is fun, but...

...wait...

It's a 4/4 with Lifelink for 4?
I LOVE MULTICOLORED!!!

Just remember that throwing creatures is more of a last ditch effort than a constant attack strategy without a constant token maker.(see other posts)

I'd like to see somebody making 2/2 tokens and using that ability at the end of an opponent's turn to make a red and white Vicious Hunger.

Was better before the new rules, but still very amazing. Ball Lightning, attack for 6, fling before end of turn. Pew Pew, 12 damage.

Makes for a great combo with Marrow Chomper or Thunder-thrash Elder. My back-up back-up plan for my devour deck if my creatures cant get through.

I have this card in foil, but the set symbol is definitely not the elvish looking helmet from lorwyn. its some sort of shooting star with one of the streaks arched behind it. anyone know whats up with that? its not shown above and i havent seen it anywhere else. i know its not the beatdown box set symbol but looks kinda like it.

There are several good ways to use this creature, if for no other reason than he's only 4 mana for a lifelink creature, but that second ability is very interesting. Yes you have to sacrifice a creature, but you could use token, or you could use dominus of fealty or sarkahn vol to take your opponents creatures to whack them with. Primarily what makes the ability so attractive is actually the amount of combat tricks you can play with it. Imagine you sneak a token past your opponents defenses, play a colossal might on it to do 5, then sacrifice it to do another 5, for a total of 10. You could also put a devour creature into play, devour everything else for a huge creature, then throw it at your opponent for an immediate game finisher. If one of your creatures has first strike, it can also do damage, then be sacrificed to do all its damage a second time. Admittedly your not going to want to sacrifice creatures left and right unless you have a steady supply of tokens, but if your creature is about to die anyways, or be removed by a spell, then may as well get some more damage in. Can also save your creatures from exiling, if its about to be exiled you can sacrifice it to do damage, and then at least you can revive it later. A synergistic devour combo might be goblin assault enchantment, then voracious dragon which deals damage based on the amount of goblins it eats when it comes into play, then sacrifice it with brion to do some major damage.

my giant deck is built around this card.. pop out a hamletback goliath or a borderland behemoth, get out Brion with giant harbinger, wait 'til their power is equal to opponent's life total, sac and BOOM. one hit KO.

Use Righteousness with this. Block an opponent's big creature with one of your own, then fling it to do some serious damage to them. That would definitely make them think twice about attacking you again. :)

Now, with the Legendary Eldrazi, you can fling them and get everything in your graveyard back to fling again. You just have to save 1 red to do it and you can get the not-so-insignificant damage across the turn they come in.

Granted, it is a total waste of an Eldrazi, but it would still be funny. "How'd you lose that game?" "I had Ulamog thrown at me"

Just wanted to point out that lifelink triggers when you fling a creature.
So.
It's awesome.

Great card, but... I've got a couple questions about the flavor... how does whipping your creatures in a planeswalker's face gain you life; and how is performing this same action in any way related to protection and order?

Don't get me wrong, I'm lovin' the lifelink, and the fact that he's red/white perfectly suits me; I just don't understand... you know... why.

I now use this in EDH, and have all of the wacky combos built in. I think my favorite one is using Phyrexian Processor, paying an opponents life total, and flinging the token at them for instant death, with you gaining all of that life back. Kinda awful, but so much fun.

I have a question. Lifelink says "Whenever this creature deals damage you gain that much life." So since its ability specifically says "Brion Soutarm deals damage equal to the sacrificed creatures power to target player." Wouldnt you gain the life because Brion Soutarm is technically inflicting the damage? If so it suprises me nobody has said anything about it.

I wish Lord of Extinction had colours that more suited this guy...throwing HIM at an opponents face would be hilarious... too many mana loops to jump through though. Nonetheless a great card!

Just wondering, do cards like firebreathing, giant strength, bloodlust etc. count toward a flung creatures power?

He's a fantastic EDH general, mainly due to the fact that his sacrifice-based ability is just really hard to deal with. Red/white is a bit of an underwhelming color combo, but you soon start to realize just how little even 40 life is when you're facing down Brion and an ever-growing Hamletback Goliath or War Elemental.

There's something satisfying about saying his name.

BRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOON STOUUUUUUUUUUTAAAAAAAAAAAARM. Try it out when you summon him, when you attack with him, when you fling things with him, when you win a game, when you win the lottery, whenever.

Turn 1: Forest, Birds of Paradise
Turn 2: Plains, Elvish Piper
Turn 3: Mountain, Brion Stoutarm, he should be be able to hold off any major threats for the next turn,
Turn 4: Pass
Opponent's turn: He attacks, Pipe in Meglonoth, Righteousness on the Meglonoth, Toss it with Brion, successfully deal 26 damage and gain 13 life, while defending, on your enemy's 4th/5th turn.

Here's a pretty nifty combo:

1) Get Brion out
2) Get Mirror Entity out, along with any other creature.
3) Equip Deathrender to the third creature.
4) Spend mana to make the other creature as strong as you can (it also has +2/+2 due to the Deathrende)r.
5) Sacrifice creature and send down another one due to Deathrender.

Repeat for a few turn.

(Sorry for the double post, other one got messed up.)

One of the nice things about red and white, both colors have very playable walls. So with that in mind, Glyph of Destruction is a nice combat trick with Brion in play. Not an overwhelming game winner, but a nice solid play.
