This with Doubling Season would be crazy

Doubling season? Why? Just play Dragon Broodmother.

Doubling Season? Broodmother? This is an artifact that uses charge counters!
the card you want to play with it is Energy Chamber

only worth it with 10 mana, but atleast it's reusable. unlike Snake Basket which only gives tokens once.

I'm confused, how can something have two X values at once?

@JoshuaFH Here's an example: You play this spell with the intention of Variable Colorless being 3. So, you must pay 3+3 (A.K.A. 6).

The Doubling Season combo would have twofold (er, fourfold) benefits if I'm not mistaken. First it would double the number of charge counters, then it would double the number of snakes you get for each charge counter. Crazy enough these two cards were in standard together.

Muraganda Petroglyphs would pop out 3/3 snakes all over the place.

I like the option of being able to cast it for 0 and just wait until Energy Chamber starts kicking in. Can also be searched for with Trinket Mage, so it's kinda playable in casual artifact decks :)

Oh, I'll add this together with my Trinket Mages and Grand Architects, because we ALL know how fun it is to get a BAJILLION snakes for attacking ore chump blocking, right???...

NOT TO MENTION having a Everflowing Chalice to add to the mana sinking FUN!!

I had 62 creatures under my control with the help of this card once, against my friend who was playing with a Green/White. Long-ass game. but when I won, it was totally worth it.

I love combining this with coat of arms.

I slipped this into my proliferate deck.

Just a few voltaic keys, everflowing chalices, contagion clasps and contagion engines, with a few thrumming birds as well.

1,000+ snakes.

Snakes.... It had to be snakes...

In practice, I find myself loathing the inefficiency of the first batch. It just isn't a fun card without some help. Besides proliferate, Essence of the Wild pushes it over the edge.

Run with Sigil Captain and Muraganda Petroglyphs. By that time you can play this with at least two counters, and two 5/5 creatures every turn is more than worth it.

Doubling Season of course but don't forget Goblin Bombardment!

In Commander, I hardcasted this for 10 in my Teysa, Orzhov Scion deck. That was fun times.

Hmm, I'me have a hard time thinking about the cost and reward for this card. Let's see the numbers without counter shenanigans.

Cast for {2} - {5} for a 1/1 boost. I suppose it's batter than The Hive

Cast for {4} - {5} for two 1/1's. I would say this is about the same power level as The Hive, a vanilla 2/2 is worth about a 1/1 with evasion.

Cast for {6} - {5} for three 1/1's. When you're still comparable to The Hive, you know you're not that good. Clearly this card was not meant for an aggro format. Fortunately the Orochi are pretty much the only tribe that can come close to Elves in raw mana accel.

Cast for {8} - {5} for four 1/1's. We're entering casual only levels here. For an initial investment the size of Akroma you get a Goblin Rally with a less supported card type (granted, if you use a five-mana card in goblin tribal you are doing it terribly wrong) each turn. I imagine it gives you a pretty consistent board presence in a format like casual EDH, where 8 mana is midgame.

Cast for {10}- {5} for five 1/1's. Well hatchery, you're finally cost-p/t efficient. If you can't win with an Increasing Devotion each turn you're going to have a hard time winning.

Cast for {12} - {5} for six 1/1's. Now THIS is what Urzatron is REALLY for. Did you think it was about Colossi or Eldrazi? Nope. The best thing to do with that is get a Conquerer's Pledge each turn. Six snakes man! Six of them! Also, past here we don't gat any sorceries with the same cost and same token number.

Cast for 14 - {5} for seven 1/1's. Hey, did you know that no card has ben printed with the mana cost of {14} colorless mana anywhere on it? We have reached the point where there are no applicable sorceries, but a Symbiotic Wurm dying has the same effect. Pretty neat.

Cast for {16} - {5} for eight 1/1's. The closest thing we can get to this effect is Sekki, Season's Guide, but you usually don't get that effect all at once. Beyond here we get very, very few symbols for these numbers.

Cast for 18 - {5} for nine 1/1's. There is nothing that specifically makes nine 1/1 tokens, or nine or anything, I believe.

Cast for 20 - {5} for 10 1/1's. Yay, the number of token is now twice the cost to summon them!

Cast for {100} - {5} for 50 1/1's. Dang, those Orochi must be getting busy. If you can't win with 50 power on the board each tun, you're probably in a position where you have 100 mana to spend. You'd have just gotten milled out in EDH, for cripes sake! Unless you just want to have a cool win-con in your infinite mana deck, why?

Cast for {1000000} - {5} for 500,000 1/1's. Hmm, that or choosing all targets for all spells? Decisions, decisions...

From this, I'd say that the nursery is definitely meant for mana accel and/or lategame. For best results, use in a Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro Shaman EDH deck. The power in this card is versatility; I wouldn't play it if it was stuck in any one mode, but it's still powerful. I feel that making the activation cost {4} or {3} wouldn't have made it too broken. All in all, a meh card.

Undoubtedly the most fun thing to do with infinite manay. Also searchable with both Trinket Mage and Tolaria West.
